An Analysis Method for the Transient Ground Impedance Using Variable Frequency and Lightning Impulse Current (가변주파수 및 임펄스 전류를 이용한 과도접지임피던스 분석)

  • The transient ground impedance depending on configuration, size, and material of grounding electrodes as well as the shapes of impulse currents, has a significant affect on the performance of the grounding system. This paper presents experimental results in regard to the analysis method of transient ground impedance using the lightning impulse and variable frequency currents. Also a new estimation method to replace the effective surge impedance for transient ground impedance was proposed. The ground electrodes used in this experiment are virtual ground electrodes including both resistance and inductance components, carbon ground electrode with 1[m] length, copper electrode with 9[m] length and counterpoise with 40[m] length. Ground impedances using the proposed method were measured respectively. Comparing with the ground impedance using variable frequency current the conventional ground impedance($Z_1$) calculated from the peak values of impulse voltage and impulse current is observed more correct method for evaluating the performance of ground electrode than the effective surge impedance.

  • In this paper, in order to predict and prevent electrical fires that occur in the power system, we measured the informations of electric power, and then proposed a system to predict the electrical fire using these informations. To this end, we analyzed the correlations for over-current, overload and overheating. These states are caused by the grounding current and the leakage current, and are the main causes of an electrical fire. Use these correlations to derive the derivative of the fuzzy rules for membership function. The designed algorithm was simulated by utilizing the informations of the actual power of the switchgear-panel.

Operating properties of resistive type superconducting fault current limiters with a single line-to-ground fault (1선지락사고에 대한 초전도한류기의 동작특성)

  • We analysed the operating properties of resistive type superconducting fault current limiters (SFCLs) based on YBCO thin films with a single line-to-ground fault. When a single line-to-ground fault occurred, the short circuit current of a fault phase increased up to about 6 times of transport currents immediately after the fault instant and was effectively limited to the designed current level within 2 ms by the resistance development of the SFCL. The fault currents of the sound phases almost did not change because of their direct grounding system. The unsymmetrical rates of a fault phase were distributed from 6.4 to 1.4. It was found that the unsymmetrical rates of currents were noticeably improved within one cycle after the fault instant. We calculated the zero phase currents for a single line-to-ground fault using the symmetrical component analysis. The positive sequence resistance was reduced remarkably right after the fault but eventually approached the balanced positive resistance component prior to the system fault. This means that the system reaches almost the three-phase symmetrical state in about 60 ㎳ after the fault. The ground currents were almost 3 times of the zero phase mts since most of the fault currents flowed through the grounding line.

  • In this paper, a methodology has been proposed according to which, after carrying out a set of soil's resistivity measurements using Wenner Four-probe data, one can compute the parameters of the multilayer earth structure using a genetic algorithm(GA). The results provided by the GA constitute the indispensable data that can be used in circuital or field simulations of grounding systems. The methodology allows to proceed toward a very efficient simulation of the grounding system and an accurate calculation of potential on the ground's surface.

  • This paper describes the design and fabrication of a Risk Voltage Meter (RVM) which can analyze the step and touch voltages in grounding systems. The meter consists of a sine-wave power source which generates up to 300 [$V_{rms}$] in ranges of 45 [Hz]~1 [kHz], a 8 Ch. data acquisition module, and a personal computer. Also, a noise elimination method by a digital band-pass filter during measurement is proposed.

  • 접지시스템은 전력설비에 대하여 인체의 안전을 확보함과 동시에 기기 및 장치의 절연 파괴를 방지하고 통신 잡음을 제거하여 정보 전송의 양질화를 이루는 기능성 향상을 위한 시스템으로, 사고 발생시 대지를 통하여 고장 전류를 신속하게 방전함으로서 기준전위를 유지하는 것을 목적으로 하고 있다. 이러한 접지시스템의 계획과 시공에 있어서 도심지에서의 충분한 접지공사 부지를 확보하는 것은 현실적인 어려움이 있으므로, 건축물 기초 구조물을 접지극으로 활용하여 접지시스템의 효과를 증대 할 수 있는 방안을 제시하고자 한다.

Development of Algorithm for the Decision of Ship's Strong Wind Warning Levels

  • Marine weather information provided for vessels is mainly offered by radio devices such as NAVTEX, Weather Fax., and others. However, the information is too general for large areas, and lacks more detail. So, many seafarers are disinclined to use the information to initiate proper readiness of vessels' safety, avoiding marine accidents such as grounding, hull and cargo damage, but cannot develop an optimal and economical navigation plan, considering the inadequate level of low precision weather information. The purpose of this paper is to develop a strong wind warning system, based on the digital anemometer installed on the bridge. This study analyzed the data on 10-minutes average wind speed, when the vessel's grounding accidents happened in Korean ports. Results reveal that the vessel's strong wind warning algorithm, can estimate the growing of wind speed two-three hours in advance.

  • This paper describes sheath induced voltage and operating characteristic of cable cover protection unit(CCPU) in underground transmission cable. Real cable system operating by 154kV XLPE cable was modelled for simulation. Sheath induced voltage and operating characteristic of CCPU were analyzed. In particular, sheath induced voltage was analyzed in case of individual grounding and common grounding, respectively, and operating characteristics of CCPU were compared each other.

Frequency-dependent electrical parameters of soils as a function of the moisture content (수분함유량에 따른 토양의 전기적 파라미터의 주파수의존성)

  • The electrical parameters of soils are highly dependent on the various factors such as types of soil, chemical compositions, moisture content, temperature, frequency, and so on. The analysis of soil parameters is of fundamental importance in design of grounding systems. In this paper, we present the experimental results of frequency-dependent impedance, resistivity, permittivity of soils as functions of types of soil and moisture content. The impedance and resistivity of soils are decreased as the moisture content and the frequency increase. In particular, the variation of the soil resistivity with the frequency is pronounced in the conditions of high resistivity and low moisture content. On the contrary, the permittivity of soils are sharply decreased with increasing the frequency below 10kHz and the frequency-dependent permittivity of soils are highly changed in the conditions of high moisture and low resistivity.

  • This paper presents the installation of measuring system for the transient behaviors of grounding system impedances using portable impulse current generator. The measuring system is controller, with controller, power supply, impulse current generator and data aquisition system. In the evaluation of the impulse response in a ground electrode, the step response is calculated based on the ratio of the voltage and current observed.
