This paper examines the design for improving the wiper system of rotorcraft. During rotorcraft operation, the wiping performance and excessive clearance can decrease. The wiper system consists of a wiper arm assembly, motor, convertor and flex drive. If there is a problem with the wiper system, the operation ability decreases because the operation is restricted in a rainy environment. There are two main causes of the problem of the wiper system: the lifting forces acting on the wiper arm in aircraft flight and the excessive gap of the components. To remedy these two problems, the wiper arm was improved. The improvements included increased contact pressure on the wiper arm (spring tension), improved gear clearance, and material and shape changes. Durability test, aircraft ground test and flight test were carried out to verify the improved shape, and it was confirmed that the wiping performance and clearance problems were solved. Currently, the rotorcraft is operated without problem by applying the improved shape, and this design improvement process will be a useful reference for future rotorcraft development.

This paper reports the fabrication of a DVB-T/H System in Package (SiP) that is able to receive and process the DVB-T/H signal. The DVB-T/H is the European telecommunication standard for Digital Video Broadcasting (DVB). An IC-embedded Printed Circuit Board (PCB) process, interpose a chip between PCB layers, has applied to the DVB-T/H SiP. The chip inserted in DVB-T/H SiP is the System on Chip (SoC) for mobile TV. It is comprised of a RF block for DVB-T/H RF signal and a digital block to convert received signal to digital signal for an application processor. To operate the DVB-T/H IC, a 3MHz DC-DC converter and LDO are on the DVB-T/H SiP. And a 38.4MHz crystal is used as a clock source. The fabricated DVB-T/H SiP form 4 layers which size is $8mm{\times}8mm$. The DVB-T/H IC is located between 2nd and 3rd layer. According to the result of simulation, the RF signal sensitivity is improved since the layout modification of the ground plane and via. And we confirmed the adjustment of LC value on power transmission is necessary to turn down the noise level in a SiP. Although the size of a DVB-T/H SiP is decreased over 70% than reference module, the power consumption and efficiency is on a par with reference module. The average power consumption is 297mW and the efficiency is 87%. But, the RF signal sensitivity is declined by average 3.8dB. This is caused by the decrease of the RF signal sensitivity which is 2.8dB, because of the noise from the DC-DC converter.

In order to geometrically correct high-resolution satellite imagery, the sensor modeling process that restores the geometric relationship between the satellite sensor and the ground surface at the image acquisition time is required. In general, high-resolution satellites provide RPC (Rational Polynomial Coefficient) information, but the vendor-provided RPC includes geometric distortion caused by the position and orientation of the satellite sensor. GCP (Ground Control Point) is generally used to correct the RPC errors. The representative method of acquiring GCP is field survey to obtain accurate ground coordinates. However, it is difficult to find the GCP in the satellite image due to the quality of the image, land cover change, relief displacement, etc. By using image maps acquired from various sensors as reference data, it is possible to automate the collection of GCP through the image matching algorithm. In this study, the RPC of KOMPSAT-3A satellite image was corrected through the extracted matching point using the UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehichle) imagery. We propose a pre-porocessing method for the extraction of matching points between the UAV imagery and KOMPSAT-3A satellite image. To this end, the characteristics of matching points extracted by independently applying the SURF (Speeded-Up Robust Features) and the phase correlation, which are representative feature-based matching method and area-based matching method, respectively, were compared. The RPC adjustment parameters were calculated using the matching points extracted through each algorithm. In order to verify the performance and usability of the proposed method, it was compared with the GCP-based RPC correction result. The GCP-based method showed an improvement of correction accuracy by 2.14 pixels for the sample and 5.43 pixelsfor the line compared to the vendor-provided RPC. In the proposed method using SURF and phase correlation methods, the accuracy of sample was improved by 0.83 pixels and 1.49 pixels, and that of line wasimproved by 4.81 pixels and 5.19 pixels, respectively, compared to the vendor-provided RPC. Through the experimental results, the proposed method using the UAV imagery presented the possibility as an alternative to the GCP-based method for the RPC correction.

The free-stereo mosaics image without GPS/INS and ground control data can be generated by using relative orientation parameters on the 3D model coordinate system. Its origin is located in one reference frame image. A 3D coordinate calculated by conjugate points on the free-stereo mosaic images is represented on the 3D model coordinate system. For determining 3D coordinate on the 3D absolute coordinate system utilizing conjugate points on the free-stereo mosaic images, transformation methodology is required for transforming 3D model coordinate into 3D absolute coordinate. Generally, the 3D similarity transformation is used for transforming each other 3D coordinates. Error of 3D model coordinates used in the free-stereo mosaic images is non-linearly increased according to distance from 3D model coordinate and origin point. For this reason, 3D model coordinates used in the free-stereo mosaic images are difficult to transform into 3D absolute coordinates by using linear transformation. Therefore, methodology for transforming nonlinear 3D model coordinate into 3D absolute coordinate is needed. Also methodology for resampling the free-stereo mosaic image to the geo-stereo mosaic image is needed for overlapping digital map on absolute coordinate and stereo mosaic images. In this paper, we propose a 3D non-linear transformation for converting 3D model coordinate in the free-stereo mosaic image to 3D absolute coordinate, and a 2D non-linear transformation based on 3D non-linear transformation converting the free-stereo mosaic image to the geo-stereo mosaic image.

For the tactical vehicles operated by the Korean army, the hub-reduction portal axle was applied considering Korea's topographical characteristics. Hub-reduction was applied to a Korean military vehicle to increase the vehicle body to secure ground clearance and improve the driving capability on rough roads, such as unpaved and field land by increasing the torque. The Korean military is operating tactical vehicles after various performance tests, including durability driving, but wheel damage occurred in one of the vehicles operating in the front units. Failure analysis revealed many damaged parts, including the hub, making it difficult to determine the cause. Therefore, an analysis of the failure occurrence mechanism for each damaged part was conducted, which confirmed that the cause of wheel breakage was a hub. Furthermore, the root cause of the hub breakage was a crack due to internal pores and foreign matters. In addition, a realistic improvement plan that can be applied throughout the design, manufacture, and shipping stages was presented using the fishbone diagram analysis. The derived improvement plan was verified through unit performance tests, including CAE and actual vehicle tests, and by reflecting this, the driving safety of Korean tactical vehicles was improved. Finally, it is expected that the proposed method for analyzing the failure occurrence mechanism will be used as reference material when analyzing the quality problems of similar military vehicles in the future.
A derivation of new release limit, named Derived Release Limit(DRL), into the atomsphere from a reference nuclear power plant has been performed on the basis of the new system of dose limitation recommended by the ICRP, instead of the (MPC)a limit which has been currently used until now as a general standard for radioactive effluents in Korea. In DRL Calculation, a Concentration Factor Method was applied, in which the concentrations of long-term routinely released radionuclides were in equilibrium with dose in environment under the steady state condition. The analytical model used in the exposure pathway analysis was the one which has been suggested by the USNRC and the exposure limits applied in this analysis were those recommended by the USEPA lately. In the exposure pathway analysis, all of the pathways are not considered and some may be excluded either because they are not applicable or their contribution to the exposure is insignificant compared with other pathways. In case, the environmental model developed in this study was applied to the Kori nuclear power plant as the reference power plant, the highest DRL value was calculated to be as $9.10{\times}10^6Ci/yr$ for Kr-85 in external whole body exposure from the semi-infinite radioactive cloud, while the lowest DRL value was observed 3.64Ci/yr for Co-60 in external whole body exposure from the contaminated ground, by the radioactive particulates. The most critical exposure pathway to an individual in the unrestricted area of interest (Kilchun-Ri, 1.3 km to the north of the release point) seems to be the exposure pathway from the contaminated ground and the most critical radionuclide in all pathways appears to be Co-60 in the same pathway. When comparing the actual release rate from KNU-l in 1982 with the DRL's obtained here the release of radionuclides from KNU-1 were much lower than the DRL's and it could be conclued that the exposure to an individual had been kept below the exposure limits recommended by the USEPA.

In this study, we suggested the period of tide observations is proper to calculate the mean sea level(MSL) precisely on Incheon tide station using wavelet analysis, and newly determined then the vertical reference surface of Korea using the calculated MSL. In order to calculate the height difference between the calculated MSL and specific ground station (ICGP) near the Incheon tide stations, we performed the laser measurements directly to the sea surface where located below ICGP. The orthometric-height of ICGP was determined that corrected the height difference to the calculated MSL using linear interpolation method. Finally, we connected the orthometric-height of ICGP with the original benchmark (ORBM) using GPS leveling methods for determining the new orthometric-height of ORBM. As the results, there is a variation amount of 0.026m between the new MSL was calculated in this study and old MSL was calculated in 1910's. Also, there is a difference of 0.035m between the new and old orthometric-heights of ORBM. The connection (or leveling) error of 0.009m was revealed in new orthometric height of ORBM with consideration of MSL variation which may caused by the error of GPS ellipsoid height and/or geoid model. In this study, we could be determined precisely the orthometric-height of ORBM based on the new MSL of Incheon Bay using only GPS leveling method, not a spirit leveling method. Therefore, it is necessary to determine the vertical datum strictly using long-term and continuously tide observations more than 19 years and to use the GPS leveling method widely in the height leveling work for the effective changeover from the orthonormal to the orthometric in national height system.
Multi-spectral drones in agricultural observation require quantitative and reliable data based on physical quantities such as radiance or reflectance in crop yield analysis. In the case of remote sensing data for crop monitoring, images taken in the same area over time-series are required. In particular, biophysical data such as leaf area index or chlorophyll are analyzed through time-series data under the same reference, it can be directly analyzed. So, comparable reflectance data are required. Orthoimagery using drone images, the entire image pixel values are distorted or there is a difference in pixel values at the junction boundary, which limits accurate physical quantity estimation. In this study, reflectance and vegetation index based on drone images were calculated according to the correction method of drone images for time-series crop monitoring. comparing the drone reflectance and ground measured data for spectral characteristics analysis.

Public sports facilities, which have increased in number due to continued government attention and investment, are used by a large number of residents in the province. However, the safety management in some facilities is limited due to being carried out with reference to safety management standard manuals as a mere formality. The purpose of this study was to analyze the current safety management status of public sports facilities in Gangwon and to seek out a policy direction that can be used safely by provincial residents. To this end. the study made a comprehensive review of central government and Gangwon government policy trends in sports facility safety management in Gangwon along with actual cases, from which it made the following suggestions for policy directions. First, it proposed the designation and operation of specialized institutions using locally established development and municipal companeie,. universities and cooperatives. and the training and fostering of safety managers for sports facilities. Secod, it proposed the establishment of a foundation to promote a sport facility safety culture such as designation of and commendation for excellent facility safety management on the provincial level. holding case presentations on safety and responsiveness. sports safety experience plazas, sports safety classes, and cartoons for public relations. Third, it proposed setting the foundation for a safety management system that takes into account the greater quantity of leisure sports facilities compared to other cities and provinces. Fourth, it proposed the establishment of an institutional basis to establish support ordinance for sports facility safety management that meets the local conditions in Gangwon. Fifth, it proposed safety management measures for sports facilities at the central government level in parallel with a basic plan for sports facility safety management tailored to Gangwon that matches the conditions on the ground in the region.
In this study, the effect of repeated traffic vibration on the long-term stability of mine openings is analyzed for re-utilization of abandoned mine galleries. The research mine in this study is an underground limestone mine which is developed by room-and-pillar mining method, and a dynamic numerical analysis is performed assuming that the research mine will be utilized as a logistics warehouse. The actual traffic vibration generated by the mining vehicles is measured directly, and its waveform is used as input data for dynamic numerical analysis, As a results of dynamic numerical analysis, after 20,000 repetitions of traffic vibration, the mine openings is analyzed to be stable, but an increase in the maximum principal stress and an additional area of plastic zone are observed in the analysis section. As shown in the changes of displacement, volumetric strain, and maximum principal stress which are measured at the mine opening walls. It is confirmed that if the repeated traffic vibration is continuously applied, the instability of the mine openings can be increased. Authors expect that the results of this study can be used as a reference for basic study on utilization of abandoned mine.
