In this study, 26 normal subjects were studied to compare the biomechanical Analysis of Lower Limbs on Speed of Nordic Walking. The biomechanical variables were determined by performing three-dimensional gait analysis, and the measurements items were spatial and temporal parameters; vertical ground reaction force; and moments of the hip, knee, and ankle joints. The purpose of this study based on the speed of Nordic Walking to the vertical ground reaction force and joint moments of each were analyzed. Nordic Walking with poles while being whether this weight is reduced to load, not the improvement of muscle activity by identify Nordic walking is to allow efficient. The results of the analysis were follows. The spatial parameters of step length, stride length significantly increased with increase in velocity(p<0.001). The temporal parameters of step time, stride time, the duration of double support use, and the duration of single support use also significantly decreased with increase in velocity(p<0.001), but cadence significantly increased(p<0.01). Analysis of the changes in ground reaction force revealed that vertical ground reaction force significantly increased at the initial contact and the terminal stance and decreased at the mid stance with increase in velocity(p<0.001). Moments of the hip and knee joints significantly in creased with increase in velocity whereas that of the ankle joint did not. Gait analysis revealed that weight-bearing decreased and moments of the hip and knee joints increased with increase in velocity(p<0.01). The results of this study may help people perform Nordic walking efficiently and Nordic walking can be used in the gait training of people with an abnormal gait.
The purpose of this study was to analyze the foot-pressure distribution of trekking boots for assessing their functionality. Subjects participated in this study included 10 university male students who had no injury experience in lower limbs and a normal gait pattern. The size of all subjects was 270mm. Five models of trekking boots, most popular in Korea (A, B, C, D & E company), were selected for the test. Using the PEDAR-X system and PEDAR-X insoles, 5 different walking stages were analyzed for the foot-pressure distribution: (a) straight gait; (b) $45^{\circ}$ turn gait; (c) $25^{\circ}$ uphill gait; and (d) $25^{\circ}$ downhill gait. Results of the foot-pressure distribution and functionality on each stage were as follow; 1. Straight gait - In case of Max ground reaction force, mean plantar pressure and Max plantar pressure, there was not a distinct tendency; however, products manufactured by E and A company showed relatively lower pressure distribution. 2. $45^{\circ}$ turn gait - In Max ground reaction force, mean plantar pressure and Max plantar pressure, there wasn't a distinct tendency; however, products manufactured by E and A company showed relatively lower pressure distribution. Results also revealed that the products manufactured by E and A company were superior to those by other companies in terms of functionality. 3. $25^{\circ}$ uphill gait - In Max ground reaction force, mean plantar pressure and Max plantar pressure, there wasn't a distinct tendency; however, products manufactured by E and C company showed relatively lower pressure distribution. Results also revealed that the products manufactured by E and C company were superior to those by other companies in terms of functionality. 4. $25^{\circ}$ downhill gait - In Max ground reaction force, Mean plantar pressure and Max plantar pressure, there wasn't a distinct tendency; however, products manufactured by E company showed relatively lower pressure distribution. Results also revealed that the products manufactured by E company were superior to those by other companies in terms of functionality. Overall, five pairs of trekking shoes selected in this study showed the excellent performance in several conditions. The findings above may provide us with the important criteria for choosing trekking boots.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the differences in muscle thickness and ground reaction force of the vastus medialis oblique and vastus lateral oblique muscles during squats at ankle angles of toe 0°, toe in 10°, and toe out 10°. Methods: In this study, 9 male and 17 female students in their 20s participated in a randomized controlled trial and were compared according to the ankle angles of toe 0°, toe in 10°, and toe out 10°. To determine the reliability and measurement of muscle thickness according to ankle angle using ultrasound equipment and muscle thickness, the participants' ankle angles-toe 0°, toe in 10°, and toe out 10°-were measured three times at the vastus medialis oblique and vastus lateralis oblique muscles during squats. At the same time, the maximum vertical ground reaction force was measured with a force plate. A total of three measurements were taken and averaged, and two minutes of squat movements were assessed between ankle angles to prevent target action. Results: The results of this study illustrated that the reliability of the vastus medialis oblique muscles and vastus lateralis oblique muscles in ankle angle was high. The difference in muscle thickness was significantly greater in comparing the toe out 10° angle with the toe 0° angle than between toe in 10° and toe out 10° in vastus medialis oblique and vastus lateralis oblique (p < 0.05). There was no statistically significant difference between the ankle angle of toe 0° and toe in 10° (p > 0.05). The maximum vertical ground reaction force was significantly greater at toe out 10° than at the ankle angle of toe 0° and toe out 10° and between toe in 10° and toe out 10° (p < 0.05). There was no statistically significant difference in the comparison between toe 0° and toe in 10° (p > 0.05). Conclusion: Squatting at an ankle angle of toe out 10° increases the dorsi flexion; thus, the stability of the ankle and the thickness of both oblique muscles increased to perform more effective squats. In addition, as the base of support widens, it is thought that the stability of the posture increases so that squat training can be performed safely.
This paper deals with numerical analysis on a high-$T_c$ superconducting (HTS) electrodynamic suspension (EDS) simulator according to the variation of the ground conductor conditions. Because the levitation force of EDS system is formed by the magnetic reaction between moving magnets and fixed ground conductors, the distribution of the magnetic flux on a ground conductor plays an important role in the determining of the levitation force level. The possible way to analyze HTS EDS system was implemented with 3D finite element method (FEM) tool. A plate type ground conductor generated stronger levitation force than ring type ground conductor. Although the outer diameter of Ring3 (335 mm) was larger than that of Ring2 (235 mm), the levitation force by Ring2 was stronger than that by Ring3. Considering the results of this paper, it is recommended that the magnetic flux distribution according to the levitation height and magnet current should be taken into account in the design of the ground conductors.

In the construction of mountain tunnels, reaction forces of the legs of steel arch supports against the ground are often expected to support the ground being excavated. In these cases, a stress concentration occurs in the ground directly under the support legs. If the bearing capacity of the ground is insufficient or displacement is not effectively constrained, the local failure of the ground under the support legs or settlement of the tunnel supports due to large deformation could result. It is therefore necessary to reinforce the support legs to reduce settlement. As a means of reducing settlement, wing-ribbed steel arch supports are well used. In this study, with the aim of finding a way to quickly reduce the settlement of steel arch support legs, effectiveness of a new type of wing ribs to reinforce steel arch supports was investigated through laboratory testing.

It is the common practice to reinforce excessively the secondary tunnel lining due to the lack of rational insights into the ground loosening loads. The main load of the secondary lining for drained-type tunnels is the ground loosening. The main cause of the load for secondary tunnel lining is the deterioration of the primary support members such as shotcrete, steel ribs, and rockbolts. Accordingly, the development of the analysis model to consider the ground-primary supports-secondary lining interaction is very important for the rational design of the secondary tunnel lining. In this paper, the interaction is conceptually described by the simple mass-spring model and the load transfer from the primary supports to the ground and the secondary lining is showed by the characteristic curves including the secondary lining reaction curve for the theoretical solution of a circular tunnel. And also, the application of this model to numerical analysis is verified in order to review the potential tool for practical tunnel problems with the complex conditions like non-circular shaped tunnels, multi-layered ground, sequential excavation and so on.
The purpose of this study was to quantify the biomechanical characteristics of the ground reaction force(GRF) during the Taekwondo's Apkubi, one of the basic movement in Taekwondo and the walking. The GRF profiles under the stance foot of Apkubi movement and walking were directly measured in sample of 20 healthy older persons. In the anterior-posterior and vertical direction, the GRF of the Apkubi movement reached to the peak braking force at 10% of the normalized stance time percent and the peak driving force at 90% of stance time, but that of the walking reached to the peak braking force at 20% of stance time and the peak driving force at 80% of stance time. In vertical force, the GRF of the walking showed two peak values, but that of the Apkubi movement seemed three peak values. Moreover the first peak vertical force was significantly(t=6.085, p<.001) greater in the walking(about 1.8 times of body weight) than the Apkubi(about 1.4 times of body weight). The walking velocity was affected significantly(over p<.05) by the braking impulse, the peak braking force and the first peak vertical force. Futhermore the peak braking force in the Apkubi showed a significant effect on the Apkubi's stride length(p<.01). So, we concluded that the braking force after the right touch down, the stance foot on the ground contributed to move the leg forward.
