Study of pile foundation using spiral pile (나선형 파일을 이용한 말뚝기초에 관한 연구)

  • This study examined a pile foundation using a spiral pile. To maintain the structural safely, a foundation for connecting the ground and the ground structure is needed. On the other hand, noise and vibration, etc. cause problems when constructing a foundation on adjacent structures or urban areas. A study of the spiral foundation of a new shape with low vibration and noise was carried out to solve these problems. A study of pile foundations was carried out on a scaled model test and compared with the results of Meyerhof's bearing capacity theory. The scaled model test results showed that the bearing capacity increases with increasing pitch angle and length of the spiral pile. To verify the measured bearing capacity in a test with theoretical results, the bearing capacity of the actual spiral pile and scaled model pile were examined and compared. The ultimate bearing capacity of the spiral pile can be increased by increasing the foundation length and pitch angle. This study complements existing foundation construction problems and contributes to a better effect and safety.

Geostationary Orbit Surveillance Using the Unscented Kalman Filter and the Analytical Orbit Model

  • A strategy for geostationary orbit (or geostationary earth orbit [GEO]) surveillance based on optical angular observations is presented in this study. For the dynamic model, precise analytical orbit model developed by Lee et al. (1997) is used to improve computation performance and the unscented Kalman filer (UKF) is applied as a real-time filtering method. The UKF is known to perform well under highly nonlinear conditions such as surveillance in this study. The strategy that combines the analytical orbit propagation model and the UKF is tested for various conditions like different level of initial error and different level of measurement noise. The dependencies on observation interval and number of ground station are also tested. The test results shows that the GEO orbit determination based on the UKF and the analytical orbit model can be applied to GEO orbit tracking and surveillance effectively.

  • The study aims to propose a method that shall rapidly acquire 3D spatial information of the frequently changing city areas by using the low altitude aerial images taken by the UAV. The artificial 3D model of the artificial structures was constructed using the aerial image data photographed at the test area, calibration data of the non-metric camera and the results of the ground control point survey. Also, the digital surface model was created for areas that were changed due to a number of civil works. Through the above studies, the possibilities of constructing a 3D virtual city model, renewal of 3D GIS database, abstraction of changed information in geographic features and on-demand updating of the digital map were suggested.

Seismic Response Analysis of Lightly Reinforced Concrete Shear Walls

  • Global and local behaviors of a lightly RC shear walls are investigated in this paper. For the sake of cyclic behaviors, nominal ground accelerations of 0.15 g, 0.40 g and 0.55 g which associated with natural periods of the walls are applied as listed in French CAMUS-2000 shake table test. Modified Kent & Park model, Drucker-Prager model for concrete material and $Giufr\acute{e}$-Menegotto-Pinto model for rebar are used for time history analyses using fiber/solids elements respectively. Alternatively, Eulerian beam analysis are discussed by imposing inelastic hinges at the most possible plastic hinge location using modified Takeda's trilinear model with stiffness reduction. Relative displacements, base shears, bending moments of 5-story shear building with 36-tons of mass under bi-lateral seismic excitation are extracted and compared with EC-8, PS-92 and KBC-09 provisions. Multi-scaled degradation process; material damage, elemental fracture and structural failure in turn is discussed in the view of numerical accuracy, efficiency and limitation depending on three different model-based analyses.

  • Tunnels are widely used for special purposes including roads, railways and culvert for power transmission, etc. Its cross-section shape is determined by uses, ground condition, environmental or economic factor. Many papers with respect to behaviours of adjacent ground and existing structure tunnelling-induced have been published by many researchers, but tunnel cross-section have rarely been considered. A collapse of tunnel causes vaster human and property damage than structures on the ground. Thus, it is very important to understand and analyse the relationship between behavoiurs of ground and cross-section type of tunnel. In this study, the behaviour of ground due to tunnel excavation for underground station below the grouped pile supported existing structure was analysed through laboratory model test using a trap-door device. Not only two cross-section types, 2-arch and box, as station for tunnel, but also, offset between tunnel and grouped pile centre (0.1B, 0.25B, 0.4B) are considered as variable of this study. In order to measure underground deformation tunnelling-induced, Close Range Photogrammetry technique was applied with laboratory model test, and results are compared to numerical analysis.

  • In recent years, the use of underground spaces becomes more frequent and the demands for urban tunnels are rapidly increasing. The urban tunnels constructed in the ground with a shallow and soft cover might be deformed in various forms on the face, which would lead, the tunnels to behavior 3-dimensionally, which may have a great impact on the longitudinal load transfer. The tunnel face might deform in various forms depending on the construction method, overburden and the heterogeneity of the ground. And accordingly, the type and size of the distribution of the load transferred to the ground adjacent to the tunnel face as well as the form of the loosened ground may appear in various ways depending on the deformation form of the tunnel face. Therefore, in this study was conducted model tests by idealizing the deformation behavior of the tunnel face, that were constant deformation, the maximum deformation on the top and the maximum deformation on the bottom. And the test results were analyzed focusing on the deformation of the face and the longitudinal load transfer at the ground above the tunnel. As results, it turned out that the size and the distribution type of the load, which was transferred to the tunnel as well as the earth pressure on the face were affected by the deformation type of the face. The largest load was transferred to the tunnel when the deformation was in a constant form. Less load was transferred when the maximum deformation on the bottom, and the least load was transferred when the maximum deformation on the top. In addition, it turned out that, if the cover became more shallow, a longitudinal load transfer in the tunnel would limited to the region close to the face; however, if the cover became higher than a certain value, the area of the load transfer would become wider.

A study on stresses and displacements of the ground according to the closure ratio of tunnel face during tunnel excavation (터널 막장폐합비에 따른 지반 응력 및 침하량에 대한 연구)

  • This paper presents a new approach of closing the tunnel face with sprayed concrete to reduce the stress at the tunnel face and displacement occurring at the ground surface during tunnel excavation. In order to carry out this research, the experimental and numerical studies are performed. In the experimental study, the model tests are carried out according to the closure ratio of tunnel face, tunnel depth and tunnel excavation length. The model test results are analyzed and interpreted by numerical calculation in order to verify both results obtained from experimental and numerical studies. It is clearly found that the tunnel face stability is decreased in decreasing the closure ratio of tunnel face. The results also show that the tunnel face is stable when the closure ratio of tunnel face is larger than 80%. This research will be very useful to develop the economical tunnel face closing system.

  • Software vulnerabilities impose a significant burden on developers, particularly in debugging and maintenance. Automated Software Vulnerability Repair has emerged as a promising solution to mitigate these challenges. Recent advances have introduced learning-based approaches that take vulnerable functions and their Common Weakness Enumeration (CWE) types as input and generate repaired functions as output. These approaches typically fine-tune large pre-trained language models to produce vulnerability patches, with performance evaluated using Exact Match (EM) and CodeBLEU metrics to assess similarity to ground-truth patches. However, current methods rely on teacher forcing during fine-tuning, where the model is trained with ground-truth inputs, but during inference, inputs are generated by the model itself, leading to exposure bias. Additionally, while models are trained using the cross-entropy loss function, they are evaluated using discrete, non-differentiable metrics, resulting in a mismatch between the training objective and the test objective. This mismatch can yield inconsistent results, as the model is not directly optimized to improve test-time performance metrics. To address these discrepancies, we propose the use of reinforcement learning (RL) to optimize patch generation. By directly using the CodeBLEU score as a reward signal during training, our approach encourages the generation of higher-quality patches that align more closely with evaluation metrics, thereby improving overall performance.

  • Ground subsidence caused by damaged water pipe and sewer is recently increasing due to the aging of city and pipeline in many city. Although many recent studies have verified characteristics of ground subsidence due to wastewater pipe breakdown, research about characteristics of ground subsidence due to water pipe is insignificant. subsidence due to water pipe is insignificant. This study aims to identify the ground failure mechanism caused by water and sewer pipe breakdown. Accordingly, we conducted an indoor model experiment to verify characteristics of ground subsidence considering characteristics of ground and ground failure. The water pipe pressure and velocity head was considered to find out ground subsidence mechanism. Also comparative analysis is conducted by analyzing relative density and fine-grain content considering embedded condition of water pipe. When the relative density and seepage pressure is low, small scale ground subsidence can occur, but when the conditions are opposite, ground subsidence occur in large scale and expands to ground level over time. Furthermore, it is acknowledgeable that ground cavity that is formed after soil run off due to seepage in deep earth, maintains steady strength and stays on the ground level for long period.

Corner Braking Test and Simulation for Development of VDC System (VDC장치 개발을 위한 코너제동 실험 및 시뮬레이션)

  • The influence of braking force generated by one tire on vehicle dynamics was investigated by simulation and ground test. A 8 d. o. f vehicle model was developed for simulation. And a special device to apply brake pressure to individual wheel was built for vehicle test. As a result of corner braking test on straight driving, the dynamic responses such as yawrate, lateral acceleration and roll angle were produced in the vehicle, which were in a good agreement to the simulation results. This shows that comer braking used in VDC system can control vehicle dynamics to improve controllability and directional stability.
