This paper gives reviews on current research status in telecommunication network design. Two problems are identified as major research issues. One is the WDM network design problem, where traffic grooming, virtual topology design and routing and wavelength assignment problems are considered. The other is the OSPF weight setting problem which was proposed as a practical method to implement traffic engineering capability in IP networks. After presenting surveys on those problems, we discuss potential challenging research issues in telecommunication network design.

This study explores 1) the cultural meanings that television beauty programs deliver, 2) the ways consumers consume TV beauty programs, and 3) the differences in the meaning of television beauty programs according to personality types. An Enneagram was used to define different personality types. The Enneagram explained personalities according to underlying core energies and was useful to grasp consumer behavior. Exploratory data were collected through in-depth interviews of fifteen women in their twenties who watched television beauty programs regularly. The personality types were classified according to three core energies: head-centered, heart-centered, or body-centered. The results were: First, television beauty programs were celebrity-focused, product-focused, and consumer-focused. They were found to help consumers improve their appearance in an appearance-oriented contemporary society by sharing appearance management information. Second, consumers consumed the products from television beauty programs as well as sought a "beautifully transformed self". Third, cultural meanings moved first from a culturally-constituted world to consumer goods through television beauty programs that then moved these goods to the individual consumer through symbolic consumption behavior along with grooming rituals, evaluation practices, appreciation practices, and accounting practices. Symbolic consumption behavior differed with personality type: heartcentered consumers transferred meaning through grooming rituals and appreciation practices, head-centered consumers through evaluation practices, and body-centered consumers through accounting practices.

Background and Purpose : The hemiplegic upper extremity is affected in many stroke patients, and recovery is often poor. The purpose of this study was to assess the efficacy of electroacupuncture (EA) in enhancing the upper extremity motor and functional recovery of ischemic stroke patients. Subjects and Methods : Forty ischemic stroke patients (the upper extremity Fugl-Meyer motor scale (FM) score lower than 46, lesion location within middle cerebral artery territory) within 2 weeks of stroke onset were randomly allocated to either an EA group that received EA treatment or a control group that received only routine ward care. The EA was applied at Quchi-Shousanli (LI11-LI10), Waiguan-Hegu (TE5-LI4) points on the hemiparetic side six times per week for 4 weeks. The frequency of stimulation was 25-50Hz and the intensity was set at a level sufficient to induce muscle contraction. EA treatment was given for 30 minutes and all patients of both groups received standard rehabilitation program. Outcomes were assessed, in a blind manner, before treatment began and at 4 weeks after treatment, with the FM, the Motor Power score (MP) for shoulder/elbow, and the subsection of the Modified Barthel Index (MBI) for drinking/feeding/dressing upper body/grooming. Results : These 2 groups had comparable clinical characteristics, lesion location, lesion size, and pretreatment impairment scores. By the end of treatment, the EA group showed significantly more improvement than the control group in the subsection of the FM for shoulder/elbow/coordination (6.4 vs. 3.7; P=0.047) and the MP for shoulder/elbow (5.3 vs. 3.3; P=0.008). The subsection scores of the MBI for drinking/feeding/dressing upper body/grooming were not significantly different between two groups. No adverse effects due to treatment were found Conclusion : These results suggest that EA enhances the upper extremity motor recovery of acute stroke patients. However, this study failed to demonstrate any significant functional benefit related with upper extremity. Future study should be carried out in a larger sample size and use the functional outcome measure that is more specific and sensitive to the upper extremity.

Objective : This study is conducted in order to investigate the effect of Banggibongnyeongtang(BBT) on Lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced depression. Method : LPS $5{\mu}g$ was injected to lateral ventricle. Experimental groups were administered BBT intraperitoneally. Depressive behavior was confirmed by weight change, sucrose preference, open field test(OFT), and forced swimming test(FST). The plasma concentration of $IL-1{\beta}$ and $TNF-{\alpha}$, Corticotropin-Releasing Factor(CRF), Adrenocorticotropin Hormone(ACTH) and Corticosterone(CORT) were measured by ELISA. Result : BBT did not change the body weight significantly than LPS group, but on sucrose preference, BBT increased significantly in LPS+BBT400 group compared to LPS group (P<0.05). In the OFT, BBT increased spending time in the central zone and decreased grooming number. LPS+BBT400 group increased central zone-spending time, and decreased grooming number than LPS group significantly (P<0.05). In the FST, LPS+BBT400 group decreased immobility time than LPS group significantly (P<0.05). BBT decreased $IL-1{\beta}$ concentration does-dependently, but only with significant decrease in LPS+BBT400 group than LPS group in plasma (P<0.05). But BBT did not decrease $TNF-{\alpha}$ concentration significantly in plasma. BBT decreased plasma CRF, ACTH, and CORT. And CRH and CORT of LPS+BBT400 group were shown significant decrease comparing with LPS group (P<0.05). Conclusion : It is postulated that the anti-depressant effect of BBT can be validated through inhibition of HPA axis abnormal activity by the anti-inflammatory effect.

광회선 분배 시스템(OXC)은 전광통신망(Optical Transport Network)에서 광신호 간 연결을 원격으로 설정해 줄 수 있는 노드(Optical Network Element)이다. OXC는 다수의 입력/출력 링크를 가지며 하나의 입력/출력 링크에는 다수의 파장 다중된 광신호 채널이 존재한다. OXC는 하나의 입력 링크를 통하여 입력되는 다수의 파장 채널을 서로 다른 출력 링크로 연결해 주거나, 다수의 입력 링크로부터 입력되는 파장채널을 하나의 출력 링크로 연곁해 줄 수 있는 optical grooming 기능을 수행한다. 또한 자국에서 광신호를 Add/Drop할 수 있는 기능을 가질 수 있다. (중략)

본 연구는 WDM Mesh 망에서 SDH 수요가 주어졌을 때, 여러 개의 SDH 수요를 효과적으로 routing하는 방법을 통해 grooming 효과를 극대화시켜 전체 Mesh망에서 사용되어지는 총 Lightpath의 수를 줄이는 것을 목적으로 한다. 그리고 이렇게 해서 구해진 Lightpath의 수를 각 링크의 용량제약으로 하여 SDH 수요의 routing 비용을 최소화하는 것을 부차적인 목적으로 한다. 이것을 수리모형으로 바꾸면, Network Synthesis 문제와 Integer Multicommodity 문제로 모형화 할 수 있다. 해법으로는 Path-Formulation을 통한 분지평가법을 사용하였다. 전산실험결과를 보면 상용 패키지인 CPLEX를 이용하여 푼 것에 비해 수행속도 면에서 훨씬 빠르게 나타났고, 문제의 사이즈가 커짐에 따라 CPLEX를 사용하여 해결할 수 없는 문제에 대해서도 해를 구할 수 있었다.

It is said that the chinese medicine, Ginseng root has some effects on the central nervous system . Ginseng saponin was prepared from Ginseng methanol extract and its effect on general behavioral activity was studied in rats. Each experimental group was composed of 8 rats. The behavioral activity of rats was observed in terms of 7 components i.e. sleeping, lying, grooming, rearing, walking, eating and drinking. In each group, total duration of behavior-observation was 2 hours, which were devided into four 30 min-intervals. The behavior-observation was done 10 times for each interval, so total number of observation was 40 times throughout 2 hours. Ginseng sapoain showed central nervous system stimulant action in reduced sleeping component and in increased activity components. From the results of this study, it is suggested that Ginseng saponin inhibits the extrapyramidal action of chlorpromazine.

The age after the French Revolution was the period of experiment and change in dress for both men and women. Directly after the close of the Reign of Terror, Directoire(1795-1799) became the extreme fashion known as incroyables and merveilleuses which mean 'impossible' or 'unimaginable'. This study aimed to investigate the sociocultural phenomena which affect to clothing change through the French Revolution period and clothing analysis of incroyables and merveillues. Furthermore, this study will contribute to establishing the theory of clothing culture and help predicting clothing change in accordance with social circumstances. Incroyables and merveilleuses represent extreme opposites in sleekness of attire and grooming. Incroyables required an unkempt, wrinkled appearance and a contrived carelessness. Merveilleuseses show the exaggerated transparency and simplicity in the fashions of female. Also, they devoted to the worship of the antique and the masculine fashions. This fashion madness appeared as the result of revolutionary social change. Their costume showed characteristics of the transition period between French Revolution and Classic period. However, they simply carried existing tendencies to the point of caricature by an enthusiastic overstatement.

This study was done to investigate the ADL differences between before and after home care. For this survey, the Barthel index, an ADU(activities of daily living) assessment, and general history questions were asked. Functional performance, i.e. ADL, was studied in a population a total of 56 men and women aged 65 and older from the city of Taejon. Among the independent subjects, women, 73 years of age and older, married status, 1-2 times taking home care per month, the case answering 'Quite' about satisfactory of home care, elderly dwelling with others and who have helper and spouse, elderly having a snack regularly, are statistically significant. Also ADL differences were found in grooming, getting in and out chair, getting on and off toilet, walking 500 meters on the level. Further studies should evaluate the activities of daily living to predict important disability-related outcomes.

통신시스템의 발전과 더불어 WDM 전송기술의 등장은 미래의 다양한 광대역 서비스의 제공이 가능하게 되었다. 하지만, 개별 수요들이 요구하는 대역폭이 광파장의 대역폭에 비해 매우 작으므로. 개별 수요들을 다중화하여 하나의 광경로를 통해 전송하는 수요집적(traffic grooming)에 관한 연구들이 많은 관심을 받고. 있다 본 연구는 mesh 구조의 WDM 통신망에서의 수요집적 및 광경로 설정에 관한 문제를 다루고 있다. 주어진 네트워크 상에 하나의 가상노드와 아크를 추가하여 새로운 네트워크를 구성하고 이를 대상으로 목적함수를 사용되는 광파장의 수를 최소화하는 혼합정수계획 모형을 수립하였다. 아울러. NP-Complete로 알려진 본 문제의 해를 효과적으로 구하기 위한 발견적 해법을 제안하며, 실제 다양한 실험을 통해 제안된 알고리즘의 효율성을 보인다.
