The purpose of this paper is to calculate the excavation volume of unequal interval grid using nonlinear boundary in earthwork volume determination. The formulas by unmerical annlysis in this paper is compared with linear and nonlinear spot level method of unequal interval grid. As a result algorithm of derived formula by numerical analysis should provide a better accuracy than the linear and unlinear spot level method currently in use. Practical application of each method is illustrated by three model test.

Beat is a phenomenon, where the magnitudes and frequencies of the voltage and the current fluctuate. This paper describes a quantitative analysis of the beat phenomenon of a wind farm using the envelope of a current during intertie/grid fault conditions. In this paper, the ratio of the crest to the trough of the envelope curve and the time interval between adjacent troughs are defined and used to evaluate the beat phenomenon quantitatively. Beat phenomena under various fault and wind conditions are analyzed. The proposed quantitative analysis seems simple but effective in the more understanding of beat phenomenon of a wind farm, and thus can be used as a basis for operation and/or protection of an intertie.

To predict the viscous boundary layers and wakes around a ship, the CFD techniques are commonly used. For the efficient application of CFD tools to practical hull farms, a 3-D field grid generating system is developed. The present grid generating system utilizes the solution of Poisson equation. Sorenson's method developed for 2-D is extended into 3-D to provide the forcing functions controling grid interval and orthogonality on hull surface, etc. The weighting function scheme is used for the discretization of the Poisson equation and the linear equations are solved by using MSIP salver. The trans-finite interpolation is also employed to assure the smooth transition into boundary surface grids. To rove the applicability, the field grid systems around a container ship and a VLCC with bow and stem bulb are illustrated, and the procedures for generating 3-D field grid system are explained.

In the Nordic grid, a trend observed the recent years is the increase in grid frequency variations, which means the frequency is outside the normal range (49.9-50.1 Hz) more often. Variations in the grid frequency leads to changes in the speed of rotation of all the turbines connected to the grid, since the speed of rotation is closely related to the grid frequency for synchronous generators. When the speed of rotation changes, this implies that the net torque acting on the rotating masses are changed, and the material of the turbine runners must withstand these changes in torque. Frequency variations thus leads to torque oscillations in the turbine, which become dynamical loads that the runner must be able to withstand. Several new Francis runners have recently experienced cracks in the runner blades due to fatigue, obviously due to the runner design not taking into account the actual loads on the runner. In this paper, the torque oscillations and dynamic loads due to the variations in grid frequency are simulated in a 1D MATLAB program, and measured grid frequency is used as input to the simulation program. The maximum increase and decrease in the grid frequency over a 440 seconds interval have been investigated, in addition to an extreme event where the frequency decreased far below the normal range within a few seconds. The dynamic loading originating from grid frequency variations is qualitatively found by a constructed variable $T_{stress}$, and for the simulations presented here the variations in $T_{stress}$ are found to be around 3 % of the mean value, which is a relatively small dynamic load. The important thing to remember is that these dynamic loads come in addition to all other dynamic loads, like rotor-stator interaction and draft tube surges, and should be included in the design process, if not found to be negligible.

The effect of the grid resolution on the hydrodynamic simulation has been investigated by using CCHE2D and EFDC. Since a high resolution of the grid results in the increase of computation time, an appropriate grid resolution should be selected by considering the efficiency of simulation according to the objectives of projects. In order to understand the effect of grid resolution and determine the optimal grid resolution, several cases with different lateral grid resolutions have been simulated for the reach of Nakdong river at the confluence of Kumho river for the floods in 2006. Orthogonal curvilinear grids for the domain have been constructed from the survey products at the sections with the longitudinal interval of 20 m. Area-elevation curve and the comparison of simulated results with measured stage at the specific station have been used to check the effect of grid resolution. From the results, the existence of optimal grid resolution has been observed, which ensure both efficiency of computation and certainty of results.

We describe a method to decompose a cube with trilinear interpolation into a collection of tetrahedra with linear interpolation, where the isosurface topology is preserved for all isovalues during decomposition. Visualization algorithms that require input scalar data to be defined on a tetrahedral grid can utilize our method to process 3D rectilinear data with topological correctness. As one of many possible examples, we apply the decomposition method to topologically accurate tetrahedral mesh extraction of an interval volume from trilinear volumetric imaging data. The topological correctness of the resulting mesh can be critical for accurate simulation and visualization.

For the purpose of producing of grid D.E.M based on National Digital Map accurately and efficiently, We must carefully consider arrangement and numbers of it's elevation information, supplement interpolation method of control point information for maintaining accuracy. According to each combination, each of them has an effect on estimate elevations. This study, after finishing experimental analysis of several grid distance and interpolation methods, aims at presenting the optimal grid distance and interpolation method in the production of grid D.E.M by using of National Digital Map. The results are as follows: First, The result of experimental analysis shows that the method of Kriging is a very excellent interpolation method in the production of grid D.E. M by using National Digital Map. Second, For the purpose of determining grid distance, this study present that twice of the amount of contour interval to make producing grid D.E.M is optimal distance.

In recent years, the energy storage systems such as LiB, NaS, RFB(Redox-Flow Battery), Super- capacitor, pumped hydro storage, flywheel, CAES(Compressed Air Energy Storage) and so on have received great attention as practical solutions for the power supply problems. They can be used for various purpose of peak shaving, load leveling and frequency regulation, according to the characteristics of each ESS(energy storage system). This paper will focus at 1 MWh RFB system, which is being developed through the original technology project of energy material. The output of ESS is mainly characterized by C-rate, which means that the total rated capacity of battery will be delivered in 1 hour. And it is a very important factor in the ESS operation scheduling. There can be several options according to the operation intervals 15, 30 and 60minutes. The operation scheduling is based on the optimization to minimize the daily electricity cost. This paper analyzes the cost-saving effects by the each operating time-interval in case that the RFB ESS is optimally scheduled for peak shaving and load leveling.

The TCAD(Technology Computer Aided Design) software tool is a popular name to be able to simulate the semiconductor process and device circuit. We have developed a two-dimensional TCAD software tool included an editor, parser, each process unit, and 2D, 3D graphic routine that is Integrated Environment. The initial grid for numerical analysis is automatically generated with the geometric series that use the user default(given) line and position separated with grid interval and the nodes corresponding to each mesh point stoic the all the possible attribute. Also, we made a data structure called PIF for input or output. Methods of ion implantation in this paper arc Monte Carlo, Gaussian Pearson and Dual-Pearson. Analytical model such as Gaussian, Pearson and Dual-Pearson were considered the multilayer structure and two-dimensional tilted implantation. We simuttaneously calculated the continuity equation of impurity and point defect in diffusion simulation. Oxidation process was simulated by analytical ERFC(Complementary Error Function) model for local oxidation.

The purpose of this paper is to design a hydraulic actuator to operate under high pressure conditions. The flow characteristics under design conditions of hydraulic actuator were numerically conducted by commercial fluid dynamic code(ANSYS CFX V11). The numerical analysis was performed by transient technique according to the variation of stroke times, which was changed from 0 to 1 second by interval of 0.01. Turbulence model, $k-\omega$ SST was selected to secure more accurate prediction of hydraulic oil flow. The ICEM-CFD 11 and CFXMesher, reliable grid generation software was also adapted to secure high quality grid necessary for the reliable analysis. According to the simulation results, the flow rate which was supplied to the hydraulic actuator was 30.4l/min. These results are in good agreement with design results within 3.5% error.
