Effect of mixed sowing treatment of green manure crops on the change of soil nitrogen amount and yield production of corn

  • This study was conducted to find optimum mixed sowing ratio of green manure crops to reduce the use of chemical fertilizer as well as to increase the crop yield potential which will foster the utilization of green manure crops in the upland field in view of environment friendly agriculture. According to the study, the mixed ratio, 50:50, of hairy vetch and green barley showed highest nitrogen production yield in the soil due to the relatively higher organic nitrogen supply from the hairy vetch plant as well as nitrogen fixation from the air rather than other mixed ratio. In the 50:50 mixed ratio of hairy vetch and green barely total nitrogen amount in the soil showed 17.2kg per 10a, but in the other treatment ratio such as 75:25, 25:75. total nitrogen fixation amount were 16.7, 16.9 respectively. We also conducted the experiment to compare the effect of the mixed sowing treatment of green manure crops on the production of corn cultivated as a succeeding plant of hairy vetch. According to the result, the mixed ratio, 50:50, of hairy vetch and green barley treatment showed highest yield potential of corn as 153kg per 10a in seed weight which is due to the relatively higher organic nitrogen supply from the hairy vetch plant as well as nitrogen fixation from the air rather than other mixed ratio. In the mixed sowing treatment of hairy vetch 100 and barley 0 ratio, the corn production showed 148kg per 10a which is 5kg lower than that of hairy vetch 50 and barley 50 ratio, but showed statistically no difference between those two treatment. Otherwise, different treatments, such as hairy vetch 75 and barley 25, 25 and 75, 0 and 100 showed statistically different each other. Therefore, it was concluded that green manure crops, such as hairy vetch, green barley and rye were very effective crops to increase the soil fertility and gave the positive effect to the crops to give vegetative and propagative growth condition and, in turn, increased the yield potential. We have to make policy to enhance the utility of green manure crops in the upland crops as well as faddy field for the soil fertility and crop yield production which will guarantee prominent quality of environment friendly agriculture products.

두과 작물의 질소고정과 유기조사료생산을 위한 작부체계 (Nitrogen Fixation of legumes and Cropping System for Organic Forage Production)

  • In order to supply 85% of total organic feed in ruminants and 80% in non-ruminants for organic animal production, nitrogen fixation ability of legume should be used in domestic roughages production. 50% of Europe organic farmer use intercropping legume in as green manure. This article is dealing with amount of biologically fixed nitrogen used by legumes and methods for estimating the transfer of biologically fixed N in rotation and separating the N benefit into fixed N and non-fixed N components are reviewed. Available data indicate that transfer amount of N to non legumes was from 50∼9.6(kg/ha) in legume-cereal rotations and proportion of legume N varied with seasons, 90% in summer, 50% in autumn. The important point in cropping system for legumes have to be included for organic forage production 6 year rotation is based on pasture system of 3 year pasture + 2 year annual(com, sudangrass), again pasture. Rye, barly and Italian ryegrass+legumes(vetch, crimson and pea) can be one of option in spring, com, soybean, sudangrass and Japanese bamyard millet would be seeded after spring harvest in the field. Farmer can make good use of rice paddy field as forge production potential area after harvesting rice. Italian, burly and rye+vetch and crimsonclover may be grown in autumn or spring time at the rice field.

풋거름작물 재배 후 추비처리가 더덕의 생육 및 사포닌 함량에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Additional Fertilization after Cultivating Green Manure Crops on the Growth and Saponin Content of Codonopsis lanceolata Trautv.)

  • Background: This study was conducted to investigate the effects of fertilization with the application of mixed organic matter after cultivating green manure crops on the growth and saponin content of Codonopsis lanceolata Trautv. Methods and Results: Five type of cultivation of green manure crops were done: hairy vetch as a single seedling crop (HV), hairy vetch and rye as a mixture of seedling (HV/R), additional fertilization with mixed organic matter after cultivation of a seedling mixture (HV/R/MO), chemical fertilizer (CF), and a non-treated control (NT). The total nitrogen content was the highest in the HV/R/MO treatment, followed by the HV, CF, HV/R and NT treatments, respectively. Nitrogen fixation was higher in the single seedling treatment with hairy vetch (HV) than in the treatment with a mixture of hairy vetch and rye seedling (HV/R). Moreover, the growth of C. lanceolata was greatly increased by the application of additional fertilizer after treatment with the mixture of hairy vetch and rye seedlings. The HV/R/MO treatment produced the highest total lancemaside content among the treatments, followed by HV, HV/R, CF, and NT, respectively. Conclusions: It was verified that C. lanceolata experienced superior growth with the application of mixed organic matter as additional fertilizer after the cultivation of green manure crops, and the content of its major saponins, lancemasides were also increased by this treatment.

호밀녹비 이용 시 중질소($^{15}N$)를 이용한 질소원 유래별 콩의 집적질소 분획추정 (Estimation of Soybean N Fraction Derived from N Sources by $^{15}N$ in Soybean Cultivation with Rye as Green Manure)

  • 월동 후 녹비용 호밀에 시용한 질소가 콩의 질소고정 및 흡수에 미치는 효과를 보기 위하여, 2004년 온실 및 2005년 포장에서 포트시험을 통해 시비질소량별 토양, 호밀 및 콩의 질소회수율을 조사하였다. 1. 2004년 온실폿트 시험에서는 호밀에 시용한 질소비료 량이 증가할수록 호밀지상부가 토양에서보다 질소비료로부터 질소를 흡수하는 비율이 증가하였다. 호밀이 없는 조건에서는 논흙이 밭흙보다 콩의 건물 중 및 질소흡수량이 현저히 증가하였는데, 지력이 높았던 논흙에서는 밭흙에 비해 콩이 질소고정 유래 질소의 비율이 상대적으로 낮아지고 토양유래 질소의 비율이 높았다. 2. 밭흙에서 무녹비와 대비하였을 때 호밀녹비 이용 시의 콩 시비질소회수율은 낮았지만 토양의 시비질소회수율(질소유기화)이 높아 전체회수율은 높았으며, 또 호밀녹비 이용시 콩의 시비질소회수율은 호밀에 대한 질소시용량이 많을수록 증가하였다. 3. 2004년 온실포트 실험에서의 콩의 근류고정유래의 질소비율은 약 $92{\sim}95%$로 2005년 포장포트에서의 $82{\sim}84%$보다 약 10% 정도 높았으며, 콩의 근류고정유래 질소량 및 질소량 분획 추정에서는 2년 모두 Difference method와 $^{15}N$ method간 차이를 보이지 않았다.

풋거름 보리-헤어리베치 혼파 작부체계에서 몰리브덴 시용이 질소 고정, 이동 및 수량에 미치는 영향 (Application of Molybdenum Enhances Nitrogen Fixation and Transfer, and Biomass Production under a Hairy Vetch/Barley Mixture Cropping System)

  • 본 연구는 풋거름보리와 헤어리베치 혼파 작부체계에서 Mo 시용이 풋거름 작물의 수량, 헤어리베치의 공중질소 고정율 및 헤어리베치에서 풋거름보리로 질소 이동율에 대한 정량적 평가를 실시하였다. Mo 2.0 kg/ha 시용에서 풋거름 작물의 최대수량을 나타내었다. 그리고 풋거름 작물의 최대수량을 나타낸 Mo 2.0 kg/ha 처리에서 헤어리베치의 공중질소 고정율은 81.7% 이었으며, 이때 헤어리베치에서 풋거름 보리로 이동된 질소는 풋거름 보리 질소함량의 53.9% 이었다. 따라서, Mo 2.0 kg/ha 처리가 풋거름 보리-헤어리베치 혼파 작부체계에서 가장 적절한 수준으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 국내에서 보고되지 않았던 헤어리베치로부터 보리로의 질소 이동을 정량화하였다는 점에서 의미가 있는 것으로 판단된다.

Performance of Mixed Cropping of Barley and Hairy Vetch as Green Manure Crops for Following Corn Production

  • BACKGROUND: Mixed cropping of legume and grass was effective system in view point of providing organic matter and nitrogen or reducing the nitrogen starvation of following crop. The relation of the change of N and P constituents depending on the cropping types and those effects on the growth and nutrient uptake of the following crop were observed. METHODS AND RESULTS: Three cropping types, hairy vetch mono cropping, barley mono cropping, and mixed cropping of hairy vetch and barley were applied. Soil properties, growth characteristics, and nitrogen production of green manure crops were observed. In additions, the effect of cropping types on the growth pattern of corn as the following crop was observed. In the mixed cropping system, creeping type hairy vetch climbed to the erect type barely for light utilization resulting in improvement of light interception rate and higher LAI (Leaf Area Index) than in mono cropping. Mixed cropping showed higher biomass production and soil nitrogen availability among the cropping types, indicating relatively much more nutrient supply and higher yield production of following crop. CONCLUSION: Mixed cropping showed relatively higher LAI (dry matter) mainly because of intense competition for light utilization usually after flowering stage. Mixed cropping also showed relatively higher yield of corn, the following crop rather than other types, mainly due to the more biomass production potential and higher N and P production ability. Therefore, mixed cropping was adaptable method to reduce or replace chemical fertilizer application for environmentally-friendly agriculture.

Rhizobium sp. RH84에 의한 간척지 환경에서의 헤어리베치 생육촉진 (Hairy Vetch Growth-Promoting Rhizobium sp. RH84 and Application to Reclaimed Land)

  • 녹비 작물인 헤어리베치의 간척지 적용을 위해 본 연구에서는 헤어리베치의 뿌리혹으로부터 분리 된 Rhizobium sp. RH84의 특성을 파악하고 이를 직접 간척지에 적용하여 헤어리베치의 생산량 증대에 이용하고자 하였다. 전보에서 분리 한 RH84의 형태학적, 생리학적 특성 및 식물생육촉진(PGP) 활성을 확인하기 위하여 옥신, 질소 고정능, 인산 가용능, sideropore 생산능을 분석하였다. 그 결과, RH84는 식물호르몬인 IAA를 $9.03{\mu}g/mL$ 생산하였고, 질소 고정 활성을 가진 균주이었다. 또한 염 농도가 0.3%인 간척지 토양에서의 헤어리베치 생장에 영향을 주며, 간척지 포장에서 약 56%의 헤어리베치 수확량을 증가시켰다. 따라서 Rhizobium sp. RH84 균주는 염 농도가 높은 간척지에서 녹비작물인 헤어리베치의 생장을 촉진시키며 수확량을 증가시키기 위한 균주임을 확인하였다.

뿌리혹 형성능과 질소 고정능이 우수한 헤어리베치 유래 Rhizobium의 분리 및 선발 (Screening of Rhizobium, Hairy Vetch Root Nodule Bacteria, with Promotion of Nodulation and Nitrogen Fixation)

  • 본 연구에서는 헤어리베치로부터 뿌리혹 형성능과 질소 고정능이 우수한 Rhizobium 균주를 분리하고자 하였다. 전국의 일곱 군데 헤어리베치 재배 지역에서 수집 후 뿌리혹으로부터 균주를 분리하였고, 헤어리베치에 분리 균주를 재접종하여 뿌리혹 형성능과 질소 고정능을 확인하였다. 그 결과, 52개의 Rhizobium 속 균주를 분리하였고, 이 중 0.5% NaCl 농도 이상에서 자라는 Rhizobium은 16균주이었다. 뿌리혹 형성능은 16개 균주 중 Rhizobium sp. RH1, RH3, RH81, RH82, RH84, RH93의 균주를 접종한 시험구에서 우수하였다. 또한, 질소 고정능을 확인한 결과 Rhizobium sp. RH84가 가장 높은 acetylene reduction activity를 보였다. 이러한 결과는 향후 염의 분포가 불균일한 간척지에 적용 시에도 헤어리베치의 생육을 촉진해 녹비 작물로의 활용 가능성을 높여주는 결과로 판단된다.
