Bimetallic Co/Zn-ZIF as an Efficient Photocatalyst for Degradation of Indigo Carmine

  • Cobalt-incorporated zeolitic imidazolate framework ZIF-8 was synthesized by a simple one-pot synthesis method at room temperature. Powder X-ray diffraction patterns and energy dispersive X-ray spectrum confirmed the formation of the bimetallic Co/Zn-ZIF structure. UV-Vis diffuse reflectance spectra revealed that the bimetallic ZIF had a lower HOMO-LUMO gap compared with ZIF-8 due to the charge transfer process from organic ligands to cobalt centers. A hydrolytic stability test showed that Co/Zn-ZIF is very robust in aqueous solution - the most important criterion for any material to be applied in photodegradation. The photocatalytic efficiency of the synthesized samples was investigated over the Indigo Carmine (IC) dye degradation under solar simulated irradiation. Cobalt incorporated ZIF-8 exhibited high efficiency over a wide range of pH and initial concentration. The degradation followed through three distinct stages: a slow initial stage, followed by an accelerated stage and completed with a decelerated stage. Moreover, the photocatalytic performance of the synthesized samples was highly improved in alkaline environment rather than in acidic or neutral environments, which may have been because in high pH medium, the increased concentration of hydroxyl ion facilitated the formation of hydroxyl radicals, a reactive species responsible for the breaking of the Indigo Carmine structure. Thus, Co/Zn-ZIF is a promising and green material for solving the environmental pollution caused by textile industries.

대체농업자재가 사과의 수량 및 품질에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Agro-chemical Alternatives on the Yield and Fruit Quality of Apple)

  • 사과원에서 사용하고 있는 대체농업자재들이 사과나무의 생육 및 사과품질에 미치는 영향을 검토하기 위하여 수행하였다. 사과 재배중에 사과잎의 엽록소함량은 처리 자재중 삼요소, 목탄분말, 토탄 및 키토산 처리구에서 약간 높은 경향을 나타내었다. 과실내 당함량은 삼요소, 아미노산, 그린이온칼슘 처리구에서 높았으나 처리간에 차이가 컸으며, 비타민 C함량은 모든 처리구에서 공히 세포분열기에 논았다가 비대기에는 약간 낮아진후 수확기에 다시 증가하는 경향으로 삼요소구에서 가장 많았다. 사과원에서 농약을 전혀 살포하지 않고 대체농업자재만을 사용한 경우 사과의 상품과율이 관행농법으로 재배한 처리구 보다 25% 정도가 감소한 반면에, 농약을 관행으로 살포하면서 처리한 목탄분말, 아미노산 및 미네랄C 처리구에서는 과중이 250g 이상인 상품과율이 90%이상 생산되었다. 따라서 수량과 품질을 고려할 때 영년생 작물인 사과원에서는 장기적으로 화학비료와 농약 사용량을 서서히 줄여가면서 대체농업자재를 혼용 또는 복합적으로 사용함으로서 친환경적인 과수원 경영방법으로 정착이 가능할 것으로 생각된다.

Structure and Heme-Independent Peroxidase Activity of a Fully-Coordinated Mononuclear Mn(II) Complex with a Schiff-Base Tripodal Ligand Containing Three Imidazole Groups

  • New complex $[Mn(II)H_{1.5}L]_2[Mn(II)H_3L]_2(ClO_4)_5{\cdot}3H_2O$ (1), where $H_3L$ is tris {2-(4-imidazolyl)methyliminoethyl} amine (imtren), has been prepared by reacting manganese(II) perchlorate hexahydrate with the imtren ligand in methanol. X-ray crystallographic study revealed that the imtren ligand hexadentately binds to Mn(II) ion through the three Schiff-base imine N atoms and three imidazole N atoms with a distorted octahedral geometry, and the apical tertiary amine N atom of the ligand pseudo-coordinates to Mn(II), forming overall a pseudo-seven coordination environment. The hydrogen-bonds between imidazole and imidazolate of $[Mn(II)H_{1.5}L]^{0.5+}$ complex ions are extended to build a 2D puckered network with trigonal voids. $[Mn(II)H_3L]^{2+}$ complex ions constitutes another extended 2D puckered layer without hydrogen bonds. Two layers are wedged each other to constitute overall stack of the crystal. Peroxidase activity of complex 1 was examined by observing the oxidation of 2,2'-azinobis(3-ethylbenzothiazoline)-6-sulfonic acid (ABTS) with hydrogen peroxide in the presence of complex 1. Generation of $ABTS^{+{\cdot}}$ was observed by UV-vis and EPR spectroscopies, indicating that the complex 1, a fully-coordinated mononuclear Mn(II) complex with nitrogen-only ligand, has a heme-independent peroxidase activity.

Spectrophotometric Determination of Some Fluoroquinolone Antibacterials through Charge-transfer and Ion-pair Complexation Reactions

  • Two simple, rapid and sensitive spectrophotometric methods for the determination of three fluoroquinolones, namely levofloxacin, norfloxacin and ciprofloxacin have been performed either in pure form or in their tablets. In the first method, levofloxacin and norfloxacin are directly treated with bromocresol green (BCG) in dichloromethane while ciprofloxacin is allowed to react with the same dye in aqueous acidic buffer. Highly yellow colored complex species were formed instantaneously in case of levofloxacin and norfloxacin or after extraction into dichloromethane for ciprofloxacin. The formed complexes are quantified spectrophotometrically at their absorption maxima at 411 nm for levofloxacin and 412 nm for norfloxacin and ciprofloxacin. The second method involves the reaction of levofloxacin with ${\rho}$-chloranilic acid ( ${\rho}$-CA) and norfloxacin with tetracyanoethylene (TCNE) in acetonitrile to give complexes with maximum absorbance at 521 and 333 nm for the two drugs, respectively. Adopting the first procedure, calibration graphs were linear over the range 1- 20 ${\mu}g\;mL^{-1}$ with mean percentage recoveries of 100.41 ${\pm}$ 0.72, 99.99 ${\pm}$ 0.54 and 100.23 ${\pm}$ 0.91 for the theree drugs, respectively. For the second procedure, the concentration ranges were 15-250 ${\mu}g\;mL^{-1}$ for levofloxacin using ${\rho}$-CA and 0.8-16 ${\mu}g\;mL^{-1}$ for norfloxacin using TCNE with mean percentage recoveries of 99.88 ${\pm}$ 0.45 and 100.26 ${\pm}$ 0.68 for the two drugs, respectively. The proposed methods were successfully applied to determine these drugs in their tablet formulations and the results compared favorably to that of reference methods. The proposed methods are recommended for quality control and routine analysis.

리튬 폴리머 전지를 이용한 태양광 LED 조명시스템 (The Photovoltaic LED Lighting System applying Lithium Polymer Batteries)

  • 에너지의 고갈을 대비하여 자연을 이용한 태양에너지에 대한 연구는 매우 중대하고 필연적인 과제이다. 이와 더불어 최근 우리나라는 저탄소 녹색성장에 있어 신성장 동력산업의 일환으로 저소비전력, 환경친화적인 조명기구로 LED(Light Emitting Diode)를 선정하여 연구 개발을 촉진하고 이를 활용한 다양한 새로운 산업이 창출되고 있다. 본 개발 내용은 리튬 이온 배터리의 뛰어난 성능을 가지며 폭발 위험성이 현저히 적은 리튬 폴리머 전지를 사용한 태양광 LED 조명시스템을 개발하였다. 태양광 패널은 100W 용량으로 제작하고, 전원공급시스템은 다양한 생활전기로 사용할 수 있도록 직류(DC) 및 교류(AC) 전원을 모두 갖추어 기능상의 편의를 고려하였다.

훼로시안化 칼리움에 依한 鐵의 微量適定法 (Volumetric Determination of a small amount of Iron with Potassium Ferrocyanide)

  • A titration of a small amount of iron with standard potassium ferrocyanide using potassium thiocyanate as indicator has been studied. A sample solution containing $0.1{\sim}1.0$ mg. $Fe^{3+}$ in 60 ml. is pipeted into 100 ml. Erlenmyer flask and the pH of the solution is adjusted to $1.5{\sim}3.0$ with 0.1 N or 1 N $HNO_3$ and $NH_4OH.$ To this solution one ml. of 1 M KCNS solution as indicator is added. The solution colored by iron thiocyanate complex is titrated with 1/200 M or 1/400 M standard solution of potassium ferrocyanide from a 5 ml. micro-buret. Near the end point, when the color of sample changes from deep red to green, about 20 ml. of ether is added and shake the flask vigorously. The red color is extracted to the ether layer. To settle the ether layer a few drops of ethanol is added and then standard solution is added dropwise and shake vigorously. The end point is reached when the color of the ether layer disappears owing to the quantitative formation of $Fe_4[Fe(CN)_6]_3.$ In this titration, 0.lmg. of $Fe^{3+}$ can be determined within 1.0% of titration error, provided the following optimum conditions, i.e., pH $1.5{\sim}3.0$, final concentration of KCNS indicator; $0.01{\sim}0.02M$, at room temperature. The titration found to be interfered by the presence of slightly soluble salts, stable complex forming ions and the ions which would be reduced by ferrocyanide or oxidized by ferric ion.

근적외선 필터용 인산계 유리의 광학적 특성 및 구조적 특성에 미치는 CuO 의 영향 (Effect of CuO on the Optical and Structural Properties of Phosphate Glass for Near-Infrard Filter)

  • Optical characteristics and structural changes depending on CuO content in phosphate glasses that are used in near-infrared (near-IR) filters were investigated. With phosphate glasses that contain 1-9 mol% CuO, changes in optical transmittance, optical absorption, and color coordinate were measured with a UV-VIS spectrophotometer. An XPS (X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy) analysis was performed to determine valence of copper ion that influences optical characteristics in near-IR filter glasses. Structural changes in glasses depending on CuO content were also analyzed by FT-IR (Fourier transform infrared) and Raman spectrophotometers. From the UV-VIS spectrophotometer results, strong absorption peaks at 220 & 900 nm were found and transmittance was decreased. The color coordinates of the glasses were shifted to the green color direction with CuO addition for increasing absorption of long wavelength range spectra, in spite of the amount of $Cu^{2+}$, which gives a blue color to glasses, and which was increased in XPS results. Also, structural de-polymerization of glasses with CuO addition were found by FT-IR and Raman results.

수전해용 공유가교 SPEEK/Cs-TPA/Ceria 복합막의 제조 및 특성 연구 (The Preparation and Characteristics of Covalently Cross-Linked SPEEK/Cs-TPA/Ceria Composite Membranes for Water Electrolysis)

  • Ceria ($CeO_2$) was used to scavenge free radicals which attack the membrane in the polymer electrolyte membrane water electrolysis (PEMWE) circumstance and to increase the duration of the membrane. In order to improve the electrochemical, mechanical and electrocatalytic characteristics, engineering plastic of the sulfonated polyether ether ketone (SPEEK) as polymer matrix was prepared in the sulfonation reaction of polyether ether ketone (PEEK) and the organic-inorganic blended composite membranes were prepared by sol-gel casting method with loading the highly dispersed ceria and cesium-substituted tungstophosphoric acid (Cs-TPA) with cross-linking agent contents of 0.01 mL. In conclusion, CL-SPEEK/Cs-TPA/ceria (1%) membrane showed the optimum results such as 0.130 S/cm of proton conductivity at $80^{\circ}C$, 2.324 meq./g-dry-membrane of ion exchange capacity and mechanical characteristics, and 65.03 MPa of tensile strength which were better than Nafion 117 membrane.

매생이 추출물이 난소를 절제한 흰쥐의 혈소판 응집과 혈청 내 지질 조성에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Capsosiphon fulvecense extract on Inhibition of Platelet Aggregation and Serum Lipid Level in Ovariertomized Rats)

  • 여성의 폐경에 의한 eskogen의 감소는 심혈관계질환을 빠르게 진행시킨다고 알려져 있다. 최근 새로운 식품으로 각광받고 있는 매생이 추출물을 갱년기장애를 일으킨 횐쥐에 투여하여 혈 중 지질 수준변화와 항 혈소판 응집 능을 통해서 그 효과를 검토해 보았다. 매생이 추출물을 갱년기를 유도한 횐쥐에 투여하여 혈소판 응집 능에 미치는 영향을 검토한 결과 난소절제에 의하여 혈소판응집이 활성화되었는데, 매생이 추출물을 투여한 군에서 혈소판응집이 억제되는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 또한 난소 절제에 의해 total-cholesterol의 함량이 증가되었는데, 이는 매생이 추출물을 투여함으로써 감소하는 경향을 보였다. 혈 중 중성 지방에서는 매생이을 투여한 모든 군에서 난소를 절제하지 않는 군과 비슷한 함량으로 감소하였고, 또한 혈중 HDL-cholesterol은 매생이 추출물 모두 난소 절제한 군과 비교해서 높은 경향을 나타내어 매생이 추출물이 혈액과 관련된 심혈관계 질환에 유효한 효과를 나타낼 것으로 사료된다.

암모늄 디나이트라마이드염의 합성 및 액상연료화 연구 (Preparation of High Purity Ammonium Dinitramide and Its Liquid Mono-propellant)

  • 친환경 대체연료물질로서 ammonium dinitramide (ADN, $NH_4N(NO_2)_2$)는 상온에서 안전하고, 안정하지만 실제 적용을 위해서는 고순도가 요구된다. 소량의 불순물은 단일계 액상연료용 추력기 내 촉매의 분해반응을 억제하며, 비추력을 저하시키고, 노즐 막힘과 같은 부작용을 초래한다. 따라서 본 연구는 반복추출, 활성탄에 의한 흡착, 그리고 저온추출방법을 적용하여 합성한 ADN을 정제하였고, FT-IR, UV-Vis 및 IC 분석을 통하여 화학적인 순도를 평가하였으며, 최종 순도로서 IC 분석기준으로 99.82%를 획득하였다. 또한, ADN을 주 산화제로 활용하는 액상연료를 제조하였으며, 최소 $148^{\circ}C$에서 분해되는 단일계 추진제를 합성하였다. 그러나 상안정화를 위하여 우레아를 연료물질로 추가하였을 경우, 분해온도는 $188^{\circ}C$까지 상승하였다.
