Korea Marine Environment Management Corporation (KOEM) has waste oil facilities in 13 ports to collect and treat waste oil, bilge, etc. from ships based upon the Marine Environment Management Act of Korea and MARPOL 73/78 convention. Those facilities were designed and have been operated simply to discharge water under the level 15 ppm of oil contents. However, bad smells occurred from rotten organic matters in waste water and direct discharge of harmful substances to receiving water caused civil appeals. Therefore, KOEM tried to develop new process for treatment of oily waste water from ships, which could mitigate harmful substances, save cost, calm down civil appeals and contribute to marine environment preservation. This process consists of 3 steps to remove oil contents via gravity variation at first, $O_3$ input to contact water and organism deposition by inputting condensate deposits. Then finally upper water will be discharged, and the deposited substances in the bottom will be compressed through spinning machine to transfer to the designated contractors for treatment of wastes. This is very effective and innovative in that it could reduce 3 or 4 steps compared with existing process and mitigate not only waste oil concentration but also hard resolving materials such as colloid, ABS, phosphorus, nitrogen and bad smells. This method is expected to minimize bad smells and harmful gases, to save more than 10% of maintenance cost, and to arrange the good base for garbage treatment business dealing with waste water and bad smell.

RFID is a technology that uses radio frequency to read information in tags attached to objects or people. Because it reads the information without contact when tracking the location using tags in a RFID system, there can be errors between the actual position and measured position. In this paper, three methods (the method of radiation pattern, the method of the median value, and the method using both the radiation pattern and median value) are proposed to identify the location of objects or people using the RFID technique. The location identification system based on RFID was constructed and tags were arranged in a square pattern. The real location and experimentally predicted location of an object containing a reader were compared to confirm the error. Instead of the existing papers that obtained the approximately location of a reader by calculating the center of gravity of all tags read by that reader, in this study, the predicted location was obtained by the median value and the radiation pattern. This study validated which method was the most efficient among the three methods proposed in this paper through the data of the read tags. As a result, the method of the median value had the smallest error among those assessed.

Kyeonggi Provincial Government is considering double decker bus service to solve the problem of heavy rush hour traffic. However, the height-to-width ratio is more than 1.16 times larger than that of a general high-speed single decker bus, and the center of gravity is higher. This could cause driving stability problems, such as turnover and breakaway from the lane, especially under strong side-wind conditions at high speed. In this numerical study, the driving characteristics of a model double decker bus were reviewed under side-wind and superelevation conditions at high driving speed. The rolling, pitching, and yawing moment of the model bus were calculated with CFD numerical simulation, and the results were compared to the recovery angular moments of the model bus to evaluate the dynamic stability under given driving conditions. As the model vehicle moves on a straight level road, it is stable under any side-wind conditions. However, on a curved road under side-wind conditions, it could reach unstable conditions dynamically. There is a chance that the bus will turn over when it moves on a curved road with a radius of gyration less than 100 m under side-wind (15 m/s). However, there is a very small chance of breakaway from the lane under any driving conditions.
Digital image watermarking is the method that can protect the copyright of the image by embedding copyright information, which is called watermark. Watermarking must have robustness to intentional or unintentional data changing, called attack. The conventional watermarking schemes are robust to waveform attacks such as image compression, filtering etc. However, they are vulnerable to geometrical attacks such as rotation, scaling, translation, and cropping. Accordingly, this paper proposes new watermarking scheme that is robust to geometrical attacks by using invariant centroid. Invariant centroid is the gravity center of a central area in a gray scale image that remains unchanged even when the image is attacked by RST including cropping and proposed scheme uses invariant centroids of original and inverted image as the template. To make geometrically invariant domain, template and angle compensated Log -Polar Map(LPM) is used. Then Discrete Cosine Transform(DCT) is performed and the watermark is embedded into the DCT coefficients. Futhermore, to prevent a watermarked image from degrading due to interpolation during coordinate system conversion, only the image of the watermark signal is extracted and added to the original image. Experimental results show that the proposed scheme is especially robust to RST attacks including cropping.
The this study, the effect of rice husk flour (RHF) as scavenger on formaldehyde emission rate and formaldehyde content from urea-formaldehyde (UF) resin bonded RHF content wood particleboards (PB). Two type of particle size ($30{\mu}m$ and $300{\mu}m$) of RHF was premixed with the UF resin at 5% and 15% by weight. The performance of UF resins is greatly influenced by the curing characteristics in their curing processing. The curing behavior was monitored activation energy ($E_a$) by DSC and pH variation according to RHF contents. PB with dimensions of $27cm{\times}27cm{\times}0.7cm$ was prepared at a specific gravity of 0.75 using $E_1$ and $E_2$ class UF resins. Formaldehyde emission and formaldehyde content from RHF filled PB bonded with UF resin was measured by 24 h desiccator and perforator method, respectively. RHF causes an increased pH of UF resin. $E_a$ of the modified UF resin decreased independently of RHF particle size. As the pH and the $E_a$ variation of the UF resin containing RHF increased, the amount of formaldehyde content decreased. The formaldehyde emission and formaldehyde content levels of the PB bonded with 15 wt% of $30{\mu}m$ RHF and $E_2$ type UF resin were low and satisfied grade $E_1$, as measured by 24 h desiccator and perforator method. The result of a comparison between 24 h desiccator and perforator test using PB showed that the linear regression analyses show a good correlation between the results for the 24 h desiccator and the perforator tests. The linear regression of a correlation between the desiccator and the perforator was Y=4.842X-0.064 ($R^2=0.989$). RHF was effective at reducing formaldehyde emission and formaldehyde content in urea-formaldehyde adhesives when used as scavenger.
Recently, the occurrence of a ship capsizing was analyzed as the main cause of the lack of stability or loss because of the improper management of the center of gravity, the movement of cargo or heavy weight when excessive steering occurs or when navigating during bad weather. Thus, to prevent a ship from capsizing, it is necessary to secure stability to enable the ship's return to its upright position, even if a dangerous heel occurs. The GM is a crucial evaluation factor regarding stability, which the navigation officer uses to preserve stability. In this study, based on the stability data collected from the operating of ships for five years, The GM by ship's type according to the operating status was analyzed specifically such as a ship's length, breadth, and gross tonnage. The feature of the GM distribution according to a ship's length was confirmed, and after performing the correlation analysis between the breadth and the GM, the ratio of the GM to breadth was calculated, and the result was compared with the previous ratio. Additionally, a simple approximation formula and minimum GM for the estimation of the GM by ship type were proposed by the regression analysis of the GM using the gross tonnage (GT)/breadth (B) to reflect the trend of larger ships being built. The results of this study are expected to be used as data for the review of securing a stable GM on ships.

Numerical analyses were carried out to simulate tilting control on the suction pile for offshore wind power embedded into cohesive soil and cohesionless soil using finite element software, ABAQUS. A 3-dimensional suction pile was modelled as a wished-in-place pile with $1^{\circ}$ tilted from vertical line. The inner room of suction pile was divided into 3 separate rooms for tilting control, and point load was applied to the center of gravity of a separate room to restore the original position of the suction pile. From numerical analyses, required suction pressure was obtained for desired tilting degree, and the maximum/minimum principle stresses of concrete skirt and the Mises stresses of inner steel wall were collected at original position. It was found that the required suction pressure was about 410 kPa for cohesive soil, and about 1,800 kPa for cohesionless soil.; likewise, obtained stresses were greater for cohesionless soil than cohesive soil.

This study was a basic research to obtain the knowledge of physical properties of the upper sedimented sandy soil in the Nakdong river delta area. The characteristics of shear strength and permeability with fine content and relative density were also investigated. The upper sedimented sandy soil near paddy and lower soft clay layers showed high percentage of fine content, and the rest parts had about 5% of fine content. The specific gravity regardless of depth and location was almost constant. The upper sedimented sandy soil mostly had particle size about 0.1 ~ 0.4mm regardless of sedimentation environment and has illite, a clay mineral, in the entire soil samples. The results of direct shear tests on remolded specimens of the upper sedimented sandy soil revealed that the friction angle and cohesion increased with relative density, but its effect was not significant. The fine content was significant, that as increasing it, the friction angle decreased and cohesion increased linearly. The permeability decreased with relative density and fine content, and the permeability of soil containing more than 15% of fine content was independent on the relative density.

The rubber crawler system for farm machine is composed of driving units such as track rollers, driving sprockets and rubber crawlers. Vibration characteristics of the rubber crawler system varies by driving speed, center of gravity, mass□moment of inertial□location arrangement of track rollers and dynamic parameters such as dynamic spring constant (k) and viscous damping coefficient (c) of a rubber crawler. In general, vibration of the rubber crawler system occurs by reason for mechanical interaction between the rubber crawler and track rollers. Because the dynamic spring constant and viscous damping coefficient vary periodically by mechanical characteristics(deformation characteristics) of the rubber crawler when track rollers drive on the between lugs of the rubber crawler. Therefore, both dynamic parameters k and c were expressed as Fourier series by authors through the shaking test of the rubber crawler and further, vibration characteristics of the rubber crawler system could be simulated analytically. However, actual values of dynamic parameters k and c are different from those obtained by the shaking test because dynamic characteristics of the rubber crawler vary by the effect of variable tension and driving resistance of track rollers. So, actual values of k and c should be identified in the condition of actual driving test. In this study, dynamic parameters such as k and c of the rubber crawler system, which are expressed as Fourier series, were identified using the Gauss-Newton Method. Therefore, validity of identified parameters k and c was discussed through the simulation using experimental data of actual driving test. As a result, in the Fourier series of dynamic parameters of spring constant k and viscous damping coefficient c, excellent parameter convergence and simulation were observed using the Fourier series' zero order and first term of the dynamic model. Furthermore, it was clarified that identification for model parameters which are fitted to actual dynamic motion (vibration) wave of the crawler system was possible by using the time series data observed in vertical and pitching motion of the crawler system.

In this study, the various load cases by specified by the IEC61400-1 international specification and GL Regulations for the wind energy conversion system were considered, and a specific composite structure configuration which can effectively endure various loads was proposed. In order to evaluate the structure, the structural analysis for the composite wind turbine blade was performed using the finite element method(FEM). In the structural design, the acceptable configuration of blade structure was determined through the parametric studies, and the most dominant design parameters were confirmed. In the stress analysis using the FEM, it was confirmed that the blade structure was safe and stable for all the considerd load cases. Moreover the safety of the blade root joint with insert bolts, newly devised in this study, was checked against the design loads and also the fatigue loads. The fatigue life for operating more than 20 years was estimated by using the well-known S-N linear damage rule, the load spectrum and Spera's empirical equations. The full-scale static test was performed under the simulated aerodynamic loads. from the experimental results, it was found that the designed blade had the structural integrity. Furthermore the measured results were agreed with the analytical results such as deflections, strains, the mass and the radial center of gravity. The studied blade was successfully certified by an international institute, GL, of Germany.
