  • Nitrate removal was examined from May to October 2003 of a surface flow treatment wetland cell, which was a part of a treatment wetland system composed of four wetland cells and a distribution pond The system was established on rice paddy near the Kohung Estuarine Lake located in the southern part of the Korean Peninsula. Effluent from a secondary-level night soil treatment plant was funneled into the system. The investigated cell, 87 m in length and 14 m in width, was created in April 2003. An open water was designed at its center, which was equivalent to 10 percent of its total area. Cattails (Typha angustifolia) were transplanted from natural wetlands into the cell and their stems were cut at about 40cm height from their bottom ends. Average $25.0\;m^3/day$ of effluent from the treatment plant was funneled into the cell by gravity flow and average $24.1\;m^3/day$ of its treated effluent was discharged into the Sinyang Stream flowing into the lake. Its water depth was maintained about 0.2 m and its hydraulic detention time averaged 5.2 days. Average height of the cattail stems was 42.5 cm in May 2M3 and 117.7 cm in September 2003. The number of stems averaged $9.5\;stems/m^2$ in May 2003 and $16.4\;stems/m^2$ in September 2003. The growth of cattails was good. Temperature of influent and effluent averaged 25.9 and $26.7^{\circ}C$, respectively. $NO_3$-N loading rate of influent and effluent averaged 176.67 and $88.09\;mg/m^2\;day$, respectively. Removal of rf03-N averaged $89.58\;mg/m^2\;day$ and its removal rate by mass was about 50%. Considering its initial operating stage in which cattail rhizomes and litter layer on the bottom were not Idly established, the $NO_3$-N removal rate of the cell was rather good.

  • In this paper, when the moving object move to the three-dimentional space, the tracking system track the moving object using the fuzzy reasoning. The joint angle el of the manipulator rotate from $0^{\circ}\; to\; 360^{\circ}$ , and the joint angle $\theta_2$rotate from$0^{\circ}\; to\; 360^{\circ}$. The fuzzy singleton is used for fuzzification and the control rule is twenty five and the fuzzy inference method is simplified Mamdani's reasoning and the defuzzification is the SCOG(Simplified Center Of Gravity) of the fuzzy controller To measure of the performance of the designed system, the fuzzy controller is compared with the CTM(Computed Torque Method) controller at the same condition. when the disturbance torque is ON, the both of CTM and fuzzy controller tracked object without error, However, the disturbance torque changed 0.4N, the CTM controller is 10 times greater than fuzzy controller at the sum of absolute error difference. The designed system is showed it's robustness against with disturbance.

  • Most of the existing multiped walking robots are biomimetic, i.e. they are designed to have the shapes of living things such as animals or insects. Even though those robots are familiar to us, they have some drawbacks in the view point of walking efficiency such as stability and walking speed. In this paper, we introduce a quadruped walking robot that can perform fast and stable walking by virtue of its distinctive leg positions. The proposed quadruped robot has a foreleg, a hindleg, a left leg, and a right leg. In the conventional robots, dynamic walking is needed to increase walking speed. Dynamic walking is difficult to be accomplished and is apt to be unstable. The proposed robot can move its legs in a manner that its center of gravity is always laid in the supporting polygon, so it can perform fast and stable walking without dynamic walking.

  • $^13CO$ chemisorbed on platinum particles in L-zeolite has been investigated by static and magic angle spinning NMR spectroscopy. The representative spectra are composed of a broad asymmetric peak with a center of gravity at 230±30 ppm and a sharp symmetric peak at 124±2 ppm which is tentatively assigned to physisorbed $CO_2$, on inner walls of L-zeolite. Overall, the broad resonance component is similar to our previous results of highly dispersed (80-96%) CO/Pt/silica or CO/Pt/alumina samples, still showing metallic characters. The principal difference is in the first moment value. The broad peak in the spectra is assigned to CO linearly bound to Pt particles in the L-zeolites, and indicates a distribution of isotropic shifts from bonding site to bonding site. The NMR results reported here manifest that the Pt particles inside of the L-zeolites channels are not collectively the same with the ones supported on silica or alumina with similar dispersion in terms of Pt particle shape and/or ordering of Pt atoms in a particle. As a result, Pt particles of CO/Pt/L-zeolite were agglomerated accompanying CO desorption upon annealing. There were no definite changes in the NMR spectra due to differences of exchanged cations. Comparison of our observation on CO/Pt/L-zeolite with Sharma et al.'s reveals that even when the first moment, the linewidtb, and the relaxation times of the static spectra and the dispersion measured by chemisorption are similar, the properties of Pt particles can be dramatically different. Therefore, it is essential to take advantage of the strengths of several techniques together in order to interpret data reliably, especially for the highly dispersed samples.

  • Purpose: This study examined the effects of heel insoles on the static balance and leg muscle activity and posture control strategy during external perturbation. Methods: Thirty healthy young men participated in the study. The subjects underwent two experimental conditions: 1) no heel insole condition (0cm) and 2) wearing heel insole condition (5cm). The static balance was measured using an I-Balance device, which measured the change in the center of gravity (COG). The onset time of muscle activation and muscle activation of the erector spinae (ES), hamstring (HAM), gastrocnemius (GCM) were measured using surface EMG electrodes to determine the change in posture control strategy during external perturbation. Results: The speed and distance of COG were significantly higher in the wearing heel insoles condition than the no heel insole condition (p<0.05). In addition, significant differences in the onset time of the GCM, HAM, and ES muscle activation were observed when there was no heel insole condition during external perturbation (p<0.017). On the other hand, no significant differences in the onset time of muscle activation were observed between GCM and HAM when wearing the heel insole condition during external perturbation (p<0.017). Moreover, muscle activation of the GCM was significantly higher in the wearing heel insoles condition than the no heel insole condition during external perturbation (p<0.05). Conclusion: These findings suggest that heel insoles may have disadvantages, and increased efforts are needed to maintain balance and change the posture control strategy during external perturbation.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the ability to maintain dynamic posturography(EquiTest) in gymnastic, freestyle skier, and figure skater. A total of 32 subjects(22 athletic woman and 10 collegiate woman) were participated in this study. Computerized dynamic posturography(EquiTest) was adopted to test sensory organization and motor control. EquiTest facilitated the quantification of the role of somatosensory, visual and vestibular systems in the maintenance of postural balance and was also pertinent to measure the reaction time to the stimulus to change center of gravity on force platform. As a result were as follow. There was not difference among with exercise group. But there was a significantly difference with between groups. It was suggested that the acrobatic and physical activity developed the function of visual system and the role of the combination of visual and vestibular system in maintaining postural balance to surrounding stimulus, and presented shorter reaction time in automatic postural response.

  • The service sector comprises two thirds of world GDP in 2005 and takes 20% of the world trade. As the technologies such as telecommunication technologies advance, the long-distance trades in services is expected to increase. But there are few empirical research on the flows of services between regions. This paper studies the pattern of flows of long-distance trades in services across the regions. Since it is very hard to collect reliable data on long-distance trade in services, we collect data from regional input-output tables of Korea. The results shows that the hard service which can be consumed spatially separated from production tends to have more long-distance trade than the soft service which is consumed simultaneously with production. It also shows that regional gross domestic production is important factor for the pattern of trades in services.

  • Since the crack self-healing materials are activated according to the exposure environmental conditions from the time of crack occurrence, it is very important to clarify the relationship between the healing performance and the exposure environmental conditions of the crack surface. In this paper, the influence of the exposure environmental conditions on the crack healing performance of self-healing repair mortar was investigated through the water permeability test. The influence of temperature and humidity on the crack width of cracked specimens was evaluated. As a result of measuring the change of the crack width, the effect of curing temperature was negligible but it was confirmed that crack-closing occurred due to the change of dry-wet condition. The healing materials produced on the crack surface of the specimens was identified as calcite minerals. Since the minerals with high density are precipitated under the influence of gravity, the healing performance is somewhat different according to the direction of the crack surface, and the healing performance was significantly improved in the wet exposure condition than the air exposure condition.
