  • In this paper, we proposed a continuously variable true time-delay for transmit linear phased-array antenna sing chirped fiber gratings(CFGs) and a tunable laser source. Average group delay-slope of the CFG was treasured to be 177 ps/nm at L-, S-, and X-band. Simulation results show that the maximum gain of the transmit linear phased-array antenna with the beam steering angle of 180$^{\circ}$ is 11.6 dB at 10 GHz.

  • We have carried out two-beam interference experiments to form holographic gratings on amorphous $MgF_2$/As-Ge-Se-S multi-layer. In this study, holographic gratings have been formed using He-Ne laser(632.8nm). under different polarization combinations. The diffraction efficiency was obtained by +1st order intensity. The maximum diffraction efficiency of As-Ge-Se-S single layer and $MgF_2$/As-Ge-Se-S multi-layer were 0.8% and 1.4%

  • We derive the analytic equations for the transmission gain spectrum of a phase shift controlled (PSC) DFB filters with complexed coupled gratings considering both facet reflections and the phase of gratings using the transfer matrix method. The number of parameters of the equations is reduced by using the parameter of effective phase shift defined by the sum of the phase shift in a PSC region the effect of both facets reflections and the effective phase shift on the transmission gain spectrum and verify the validity of those equations from the computer simulation results. Computer simulation results show the PSC DFB filter with a pure index coupled grating has the widest tunable range and that with a pure gain grating has the largest side mode suppression ratio.

  • We present wide-viewing characteristics of a twisted nematic liquid crystal display (TN LCD) achieved by adopting dielectric surface gratings (DSGs) as alignment layers. The experimental data and the numerical analyses consistently show that the optical compensation effect inherent to the TN LCD with the DSGs greatly reduces the contrast inversion of the TN LCD.

In this study, holographic gratings have been formed using He-Ne laser(632.8nm) under different polarization combinations(intensity polarization holography, phase polarization holography). The diffraction efficiency was obtained by +1st order intensity and formed grating structure was investigated using atomic force microscopy.

  • We report on the polarization-insensitive design and fabrication of an arrayed waveguide gratings (AWG's) using sol-gel derived silica glass films formed on fused silica substrates to provide cheap and stable tools for better design. An arrayed-waveguide grating multiplexer with raised structure is fabricated in order to effect polarization sensitivity. Since polarization is usually not known after propagation in an optical fiber. passive WDM components such as monolithic wavelength demultiplexer have to be polarization insensitive. Here, we observed that polarization have effect on crosstalk of output spectrum in arrayed-waveguide grating

  • In a metal grating manufacturing process, the cutting operation allocates the gratings and cut them out from given panels or a plate sheets. Before the cutting operation an operator generates a cutting plan. The cutting plan should decide how pieces of metal rectangles i.e., gratings, are allocated and cut from the panel. This plan generation is a deal of weight on the production cost. the generation of cutting plan is similar to the general two-dimensional cutting problem. In this paper, we first define cutting problem and Af algorithm of Artificial Intelligence to solve the problem. Also, through a simulation, we compare the proposed cutting algorithm to an existing method in terms of material loss

  • Optical fiber gratings have been intensively studied for applications in optical fiber communications and sensor systems due to their all-fiber configuration, low insertion loss, low cost, and high flexibility. Especially, cladding mode coupling fiber devices such as long period gratings (LPG) and acousto-optic tunable filters (AOTF) have been developed as a gain equalization filter in erbium doped fiber amplifier (EDFA) for wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) systems$^{(1-2)}$ . • We propose a novel method for the beam focusing by a single subwavelength metal slit surrounded by chirped dielectric surface gratings. In the proposed method, the period of each grating is chirped to make a focused beam at the desired position. Design of the grating structures for optimal beam focusing and the analysis of the field distribution are conducted based on the rigorous coupled wave analysis (RCWA). It is shown that the focused beam is formed at 1.5${\mu}m$ from the metal substrate and its full width at half maximum (FWHM) is 411nm.
