A variety of design processes from 2D graphic to 3D models are meeting improved consumers' confidence of modern clients. However, the current design methods are limited to meet consumers' needs and express a design concept what a designer wants to show. Therefore the study here tries a test of hybrid space simulation combined with previous models and digital media technology, which can be used for multiple contents. The study can contribute to suggesting virtual space simulation that can help clients' spatial understanding in this media era and deliver emotional language of designers as well by utilizing the strong point of multi-sensible media.

This study aims to figure out diversity and complexity of modern design by analysing surrealistic characters of Jaime Hayon and Marcel Wanders design, who are working actively in diverse design fields including graphic design, product design, and space design. First fundamental theories of surrealism was reviewed, and structure for analysis was made by studying characters of design representation derived by surrealistic concepts. And then design projects in the fields of furniture and product design, interior space design, and project design that were performed by two designers after the year 2000 were analysed. Two designers assume critical attitudes in mass production of functional design which is made by only machines, and they have something in common pursuing creative and imaginative design by making unique artistic elements by using modern technology. In this way, they create surrealistic fantasy in their design. On the other hand Jaime Hayon and Marcel Wanders show interesting differences in modes of expression. Hayon creates unique and organic forms and characters based on his creative imagination, and he enjoys to express boldness and amusement. Wanders shows sophisticated and elegant duality by dramatic balance between intricate patterns and minimal forms. Both designers have important influences in modern design as creative leaders always pursuing new things and representing complex tendency of modern society.

Despite the recession that has affected people's consumption of clothing, the 'Gold Kids' market shows steady growth. This study analyzed the characteristics of components that make up infant and children's wear brands. Firstly, this study found the linguistic features of infant and children's clothing brands. Most brand names have common characteristics such as idiomatic expressions, combination and separation of vocabulary, and more than 6 syllables. Also, when they formative brand quality, they frequently used words like 'girl', 'kid' and 'baby' to clarify the category of the brand product. Also it is meant to present a clear brand concept to the target consumer to offer their brand information and product characteristics. Moreover, English is widely used in the brand names, and they used appropriate symbol graphics that fit the titles and qualities of the brands. Second, to strengthen their brand identity and inherent concepts, infant and children's clothing brands normally use their own particular brand colors wich makes special and strong visual impressions on the target consumer. Also, they mainly use applied sans serif typeface showing the softer brand quality. Brand logos have different visual expressions depending on their brand value and the target consumer. The word type of the logos presents clear brand identity and information to the target consumer. Through the study, we found that infant and children's clothing brands tend to use written brand names for the logo type more than graphic symbol logo patterns. This indicates that infant and children's clothing brands tend to emphasize information transfer rather than visual graphic symbols when they organize brand logos.

The aspirations toward newness and uniqueness, which are represented as the main character of modern society and the motivation of the Art, have made the media for the Art, Design and Image varied and developed. As one of those streams, laser technology has stood out for the visual media of mystery and fantasy in the field of Public Entertainment, Image Exhibition and Art, and also it could be accelerated by the advancement of Electronics and Physics. This study focuses on the image creation by the laser technology, as the great product of the state-of-the-art science, whose physical feature produces visual effect of fantasy. As the first approach, the knowledge on the physical feature and technology of laser and system composition should be preceded in the step of planning and creation of laser image. Through the further understanding on graphic feature of laser image which increases the artistic quality of the image, this study hopefully activates the laser image works by the specialists and the artists in the field, and finally the creation of master-pieces.

Composite vessels for high pressure gas storage are commonly used these days because of their competitive weight reduction ability maintaining strong mechanical properties. To supplement permeability of composite under high pressure, it is usually lined by metal, which is called a Type 3 vessel. However, it has many difficulties to design the Type 3 vessel because of its complex geometry, fabrication process variables, etc. In this study, therefore, GUI (graphic user interface) optimal design code for Type 3 vessels was developed based on semi-geodesic algorithm in which various factors of geometry and fabrication variables are considered and genetic algorithm for optimization. In addition, hydrogen vessels for 350/700 bar that can be applied to FCVs(fuel cell vehicles) were designed using this code for verification.

Computer development and new printing technology allow us to express a new type of digital textile designs those were not possible in the past. In this study, watercolor overlaying effect of various colors was tried using airbrush tool in Photoshop program. Photoshop program is a powerful graphic tool and can be used in textile design area to generate various types of designs. Woven texture was also applied to the design to give yarn dyed effects or rich appearance. Photoshop program was also used to develop woven texture without the help of the professional textile CAD. Photoshop channels enables the designers to apply various textures to the image. Plain weave and houndstooth were applied in this study. Colorways of the developed designs having watercolor effect and woven texture by applying Photoshop color adjustment function. Quick and simultaneous changes of colors were possible using this method. The developed textile designs were printed by transfer DTP. Successful textile design prints were expressed and showed watercolor overlaying effect and woven texture. The printed textiles show a little brighter color, and therefore, sample printing is recommendable in case of color sensitive production.

A hand controller in teleoperation is a man-machine interface device that provides real-time interaction between a human operator at control site and a slave manipulator at remote site. In this paper, we examine the design issure related to various types of hand controllers in use. Emphasis is placed on bilateral hand controllers and their design parameters. We describe the design of a new 6 degree-of-freedom universal force-reflecting hand controller to control a remote Schilling Titan manipulator. This hand controller allows the operstor to maintain spatial corresponence in remote manipulative operation and fell a sense of contact with the environment. Finally, we demonstrate the graphic simulation of the hand controller to verify its design characteristics.

In the design of any picture book, graphic artists employ the use of color, typeface and illustration to produce attractive book covers. This study is an analysis of selected book covers in the 'Africana Children's Book Awards' (Young Readers category) between 2009 and 2014. The book covers are mainly illustrations originally done in media such as acrylics and oil paintings on canvas. In the article, the author analyses the front covers in terms of hue, Saturation and brightness using a colour map. This work also discusses why certain colours have been used in the design of the covers thus; providing information on color scheme trends for picture books in the Children's Africana Awards Category.

This paper describes a computer-aided die design system of progressive die for making CPT grid. An approach to the development of the automatic design system is based on knowledge-based rules. The developed system is designed by considering several factors, such as grid geometry and punch profile. Grid, a key component of electronic gun, is formed through a sequence of many operations, among which the pilot piercing, beading, notching, bending, swaging and slotting etc. Using the developed system, design parameters are determined and output is generated in graphic forms. Therefore the developed system provides part drawing and the assembly drawing of die set.

In this study, the design method of filament wound composite pressure tanks was established by using finite element analyses. Pressure tanks were designed with and without a load sharing metallic liner. A GUI(graphic user interface) program was developed to increase the efficiency of analyses. The replacement ratio was defined in order to replace a metal pressure tank with a composite one. Finally, the best design model that is satisfied with design requirements was suggested.
