In all major industries ranging from powder industries and advanced ceramics, to the food and pharmaceutical manufacture powder industries, the main production process is the spray dryers. In this paper, a systematic approach is used and six rules are obtained for the basis of the fuzzy model. A fuzzy model is based on the past behavior of the target system and expected to be able to reproduce the behavior of the target system. The output of the developed fuzzy model shows, graphically and statistically, a high level of face validity. Therefore, it is concluded that the developed fuzzy model mimics the actual process and can be considered, with confidence, as a reliable model to study, analyze, and improve the existing process.

The basic mechanism of the granular sludge formation which is the most important factor in the start-up and stable operators is not confirmed yet. In this study, the effect of granular sludge formation was investigated with the different substrate concentrations and the various ratios of substrate supply/deficiency. The granular sludge formation in the UASB reactor was closely related to the substrate concentrations and the ratio of substrate supply/deficlency The granular sludge formation was not accelerated at low substrate concentration. It was convinced that granular sludge formation was accelerated when the substrate supply with high concentration was stopped at UASB reactor. From this experiment, it was estimated that granular sludge was formed by the combination of hydrogen utilizing bacteria that form hydrogen condition and acid forming bacteria at substrate deficit condition by mutual symbiosis. Though the removal efficiency of organic matter was decreased as the influent substrate concentration was Increased, the higher the influent substrate the better the granular sludge formation.

Dysplastic epiglottis is extremely rare congenital malformation, which usually occurs in association with other laryngeal anomalies. Hypoplasia is the most common type in epiglottic malfomations. Other abnormalities include rudimentary, aplasia and bifid etc. Mostly, they are found in infancy and early childhood, and diagnosis at adulthood is extremely rare. A 69-year-old man with chronic cough and globus sense visited our clinic. Laryngoscopic findings revealed a unique form of epiglottis. He had no history of laryngeal trauma, tumors, head and neck surgery, and radiation. There was no another anomaly in the laryngo-pharynx. Because of a mass-like lesion at the apex of epiglottis, we performed the laryngeal microsurgery. The pathology revealed as granulation tissue. We report a rare and unique case of dysplastic epiglottis in elderly patient with a brief literature review.

A 2-year-old male Tosa was admitted for treatment of a non-healing wound on the right forelimb. Skin tests were unremarkable; however, the lesion contained severe proliferative tissue. Surgical treatment was conducted due to the extensive skin defect and granulation tissue present. Following removal of the proliferative tissue, the wound was closed using the adjustable horizontal mattress suture method with multiple punctate relaxing incisions. The proliferative tissue healed completely after the surgical treatment. This technique can be considered an alternative treatment for the proliferative tissue when conditions require a skin graft or flap after surgical treatment.

A spinal epidural hemangioma is rare. In this case, a 51 year-old female patient had low back pain and right thigh numbness. She was initially misdiagnosed as having a ruptured disc with possible sequestration of granulation tissue formation due to the limited number of spinal epidural hemangiomas and little-known radiological findings. Because there are no effective diagnostic tools to verify the hemangioma, more effort should be put into preoperative imaging tests to avoid misdiagnosis and poor decisions).

The captopril matrix tablets composed of polyethylene oxide(PEO) was prepared and administered to beagle dogs. Captopril matrix tablets were prepared using direct compressed method and wet granulation compressed method with various ratios of drug to PEO. The diffusion rate of captopril matrix tablets followed on the Higuchi's diffusion model. With increasing hardness of captopril matrix tablets, release rate was decreased. Each formulation was evaluated by the area under the curve (AUC) and time course of plasma captopril concentration after oral administration to beagle dogs. The $AUC_{0-12}$ were $9.126\;{\mu}g\;h/ml$ and $6.417\;{\mu}g\;h/ml$ for the matrix tablets and conventional tablets, respectively. Therefore, the bioavailability of captopril matrix tablets was greater than that of commercial product. It is suggested that captopril matrix tablets using PEO is a useful sustained release formulation.

Brachial plexus schwannoma is rare. A case of a 28-year old woman who complained of a palpable mass in the right axilla is presented. She had previous incisional biopsy on the axillary mass. Brachial plexus magnetic resonance imaging revealed a well circumscribed contrast enhancing mass on the right distal cord of the brachial plexus. EMG revealed normal. Tumor resection was performed with the transaxillary approach. Though dense granulation tissue obscured normal brachial plexus nerve anatomy, using the surgical microscope and nerve stimulator, grossly total tumor resection was performed. She is free of any neurologic symptom at three months postoperatively.

There are various ways in classification methodologies of data mining such as neural networks but the result should be explicit and understandable and the classification rules be short and clear. Rough set theory is a effective technique in extracting knowledge from incomplete and inconsistent information and makes an offer classification and approximation by various attributes with effect. This paper discusses granularity of knowledge for reasoning of uncertain concepts by using generalized rough set approximations based on hierarchical granulation structure and uses hierarchical classification methodology that is more effective technique for classification by applying core to upper level. The consistency rules with minimal attributes is discovered and applied to classifying real data.

본 논문은 기호 코딩 및 정보입자를 이용한 유전자 알고리즘의 전방향 퍼지 집합 기반 뉴럴네트워크 (Information Granules and Symbolic Encoding-based Fuzzy Set Polynomial Neural Networks ; IG and SE based FSPNN)의 모델 설계를 제안한다. 기존 퍼지 집합기반 다항식 뉴럴네트워크(FSPNN)의 구조 최적화를 위해 이진코딩을 사용하였다. 그러나 이진코딩에서 스트링의 길이가 길면 길수록 인접한 두 수 사이에 발생하는 급격한 비트 차이라는 해밍절벽이 발생하였다. 이에 제안된 모델에서는 해밍절벽의 문제를 해결하기 위해 기호코딩을 사용하였다. 제안된 모델은 각 입력에 대해 MFs의 개수 만큼 규칙을 생성하는 Fuzzy 집합기반 다항식 뉴럴네트워크(FSPNN)를 그대로 사용한다. 그리고 IG based gFSPNN의 평가을 위해 실험적 예제를 통하여 제안된 모델의 성능 및 근사화 능력의 우수함을 보인다.

The microwave tissue coagulation therapy was originally used for hemostasis in the hepatic surgery, which is effectively applied in the endoscopic surgery such as the hemostasis of gastric ulcer or tumor bleeding, stenosis relieving of esophageal or rectal stenosis and tumor reduction in inoperable early cancer cases.We experienced one case of the restenosis after the tracheal reconstruction. The patient, who was 42 year-old male, had severe dyspnea due to the tracheal stenosis for 4 years. The resection of tracheal stenosis and tracheal reconstruction was done. But the restenosis occurred at the tracheal anastomosis site because of the protrusive granulation at one month after operation. The patient was successfully treated by the microwave tissue coagulation therapy.
