  • 1. Gasoline engine sludge is a major worldwide problem 2. U.S. and European sludge have similarities 3. Stop-go driving and longer oil drains make the problem worse 4. Fuel is a major influencing factor 5. Increased use of cracked components may be cause 6. Sludge can be peproduced in controlled field tests 7. Daimler benz M102E and ford PV-2 (VE) tests have been developed to overcome problem by higher oil quality 8. The M102E and PV-2 respond in a similar way to increased dispersancy 9. High dispersant ocp viscosity modifiers appear to have unique adbantage in both tests

  • This study aims to draw meaningful points from the Chang Po Go period in which Chang Po Go, who established an integrated logistics system while operating on the seas of three nations including Japan, China, and Shilla by taking Chunghaejin, Shilla, as a base of operations in the 9th century, and to discover the need for the construction of the logistics system in northeast Asia. Also, the study intends to propose strategies for contemporary application of the logistics system used during the Chang Po Go period, based on the modern logistics concept. As a result of specifically reviewing the lesson from the Chang Po Go period, which created a paradigm for a new cooperation in logistics, the leadership of the CEO, who is prepared with the long-term vision of Chang Po Go, the implementation of an integrated system for logistics activity, and the political support of the government for private companies, will initiate a bright outlook for the construction of the logistics system in northeast Asia, amid the growing need for cooperation in logistics among the three northeast Asian countries. In this era in which northeast Asia is emerging as the center of the world economy, the cooperative model in the logistics field, which transcended the border of Chang Po Go, who built a maritime logistics network in the 9th century, will help implement a cooperative logistics system in the northeast Asian region.

  • The decay of the Old Chinese Dynasty, Tang in the 10th century caused the collapse of the political order of Southeast Asia and the neighboring countries began to try to go their own way. Japan abolished the system called "Yudangsa" and nourished the culture of Japanese style. The fang age had a respect of the′Japanese Character Culture", in which when we expressed the sound, they developed the Japanese letters ,that is, reduced Chinese characters, and systematized them as linguistic symbols and developed them into one of letter design styles. The Japanese letters which was mainly the media of the expression of the female literature were delicately shaped ′as natural materials, which finally resulted in Japan′s oldest letter modeling, Asite Letter Design Style. The Japanese letters were blended with ′Reeds around the Lake", "Sea Birds", "Birds′flying", and "Rocks", mixed with the overall shapes of the objects and assimilated into one part, and became a means for the main entertainment of the nobility such as "Singing Festival", "Conference", and "Ceremonial Events" According to the relics, the Japanese feeling of a small cosmos was represented with the fabulous skills of artifacts. In audition, "Play Painting"in the countryside is also a kind of Asite the ordinary people accepted as wit and satire. What we will have to notice is about exchange of the Chinese letter designs, when the thought focused ′on the letter design, Jobcheso was popular. The letter design Jobcheso is -a kind of letter design which represents -natural objects and was popular at the time of Yukjo Dynasty, and there are some documents of that period left both in Japan and Korea. "Hyojedo" in Korea is supposed to have been influenced by the letter design. Asite- is also considered to have been "Japanese Letter Jobcheso." Therefore, the purpose of this study is to look into the origin of the letter designs in the Chinese character culture circle, in terms of the letter design of Jobcheso.

  • In this paper, the news coverage of Chosun Art Exhibition(鮮展) in the Japanese occupational era were analyzed by the discourse analysis technique. Japan was advocated the slogan of 'escape from the asia go to the west' and calls itself as western civilized nations during Japanese occupational era. Japan's colonial rule in Asia has created a Japanese orientalism that Japan is considered as developed, and the other Asian countries are considered underdeveloped countries. The media discourse of Chosun Art Exhibition make to believe that the 'backwardness' of Korean local color arts, unlike the 'colonial superiority' of Japanese arts. In the analysis of the newspapers, Maeil Shinbo and Donga Ilbo, Japan recognize Korean arts as the 'assimilation' of Japanese arts, but with the other hand recognize the 'exclusion' of Japanese arts had a dual-in. Especially, Donga Ilbo has a vision of orientalism on the one hand and has a nationalistic perspective on the other hand.

  • Logistics needs in Asia are surprisingly increasing due to rapid growth of China Therefore, each country is trying to develop ports in order to attract logistics needs. Korea, also, begins to perform active port marketing policy, centering around Busan port and Kwangyang port, in order to become a logistics hub in Northeast Asia Recently, competitiveness of Japan has decreased due to increase in the inland transport costs, so Japanese is deliberating various counter plans. While Japan is stagnant, Korea has an opportunity for activating Busan port and Kwangyang port. This study estimates logistics costs by classifying types of delivery routes of Japanese imports and exports containers; that is, by dividing the case of using main ports in Japan, or Busan port and Kwangyang port. As a result, logistics costs are greatly reduced when the containers go by way of Busan port and Kwangyang port social and logistics costs.

  • 1.It was recorded at "Dong Gook Tong Gam" of King "Jang Soo" that "Sim-Eui" in Korea was first introduced from China at the reign of King, "Moon Ja"(491,A.D), Go Goo Ryo. 2."Sim-Eui" was worn as a mourning dress during the period of "Go Ryo" and as a concanical robe of Confucian, a ceremonial dress at home and for the rules of etiquettes during Cho Sun Dunasty. 3.Several theories about the construction and the using services of "Sim-Eui" are obseved and summerized. 4.Mr. Kyu-soo Park gives a definition to "Sim-Eui" as a Fortune of Heaven & Earth, the Constellation of the Cosmic Dual Forces, the Revolution of the Four Seasons, a dignified mien & the Way of a Man of Virtue and Virtue of the golden Mean. 5.I observed the concrete measurements of the each parts of "Sim-Eui" by the construction method of Kyu-Soo Park. 6.The Symbolic Meaning following the Idea of Mr. Chung, Hyun. describes well the line of thinking in our nation, and Idea of Loyalty & Filial Piety, a Man of Virtue and the Virtue of the Golden Mean. 7.As described above, I dare insist of the fact that the Construction Theory of "Sim-Eui" by Kyu-Soo Park during the letter period of Chosun Dynasty is full of our national manners and cus-toms with symbolizing meaning, construction's exquisiteness, clothes' materials and it's size most suitable to our people, to the exclusion of the defects in "Sim-Eui" of China and Japan.

  • Aside from political leaders' popularity rates and the stock exchange index of business firms, ordinary people are highly interested in aspects of daily life, such as housing, income, health, family, food, human relations and work. Cross-national opinion polls on daily-life satisfaction were carried out in Japan, South Korea, Thailand, Hong Kong, Macao, the Philippines, India, Myanmar, Taiwan, China, Malaysia and Pakistan in the fall of 2013 and winter 2014. The percent difference index (PDI) is formulated as the sum of two positive responses (satisfied and somewhat satisfied) minus the sum of two negative responses (dissatisfied and somewhat dissatisfied). Percent difference indices are given according to society and daily-life aspects. For our analysis to go beneath national average and to go beyond national borders, two lines of analysis are carried out. First, the distance between the level of satisfaction of the top and bottom quartiles is given for each society and according to each of the daily-life aspects. Second, the regional sum of satisfaction of the top quartiles and bottom quartiles are shown crossed by daily-life aspects. In this article we confine ourselves to preliminary comparative description and analysis. More solid and deep comparisons will be carried out by local polling leaders of 12 Asian societies in the succeeding issue of the Asian Journal of Public Opinion Research. Nevertheless, two key threads stand out from this preliminary comparisons. First, social relations (family and human relations) stand out as most satisfied aspects of life in most of twelve societies. Second, the need to go beneath national averages and beyond national borders in analyzing cross-national surveys is confirmed. The comparability and validity of cross-national surveys with varying sampling method and survey mode are briefly discussed toward the end of the article.

  • We examined the relationship between the 50m temperature estimated by remote sensing sea surface temperature (SST) and fishing ground (squid fishing ground) detected by nighttime visible channel defense meteorological satellite program (DMSP) I operational linescan system (OLS) images in the East/Japan Sea during 1993-2000. The results are as follows: The numbers of nighttime fishing boat were distributed the highest in October, and the lowest in April during this study. A nighttime fishing grounds have concentrated in the East Korea Warm Current region, coastal regions of Honshu Island, and Polar front region. Fishing grounds have distributed $11-18^{\circ}C$ of estimated 50m temperature from the satellite data. Relationship between estimated 50m temperature and the distributed fisheries boats showed that the north boundaries of fishing grounds have distributed the temperature of below $12^{\circ}C$ from 1996 to 2000 and that of $13-15^{\circ}C$ during 1993-1995 and 1997-1999. Stable fishing grounds appeared near the Korea/Tsushima Strait from January to March. The center of fishing grounds in spring (April-Jun) have moved to the northward than that in winter, and variations appeared largely in winter. In summer (July-September), center of fishing grounds have formed near the Uleung Island in the south east coast of Korea, and in autumn maximum fishing ground appeared in October, the fishing ground southward from November.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the concept of information commons and learning commons that has emerged in recent years, and point out the difference between the two concepts, as well as its implications for public libraries, which get lessons learned from learning commons at Japanese public libraries. To track its evolution to learning commons, the theoretical component of learning commons was analyzed. Based on the reference, a research framework for the case study of learning commons was developed. With IT technology diffusion, libraries have become information commons. However, the main mission of libraries should basically remain as learning. Because of this, libraries which function as information commons should go back to being learning commons, which are primarily places of learning. This research shows that libraries should stress its original basic mission which is learning, beyond being information commons in the Japanese library.
