  • Modifications of graphenes have been studied for catalytic applications due to their advantages such as high surface area, conductivity and thermal stability. In this research, individual graphene oxide (GO) sheets were exfoliated from graphite using Hummers and Offeman method. Pd nano-particles were deposited on the GO surface using Pd2+ ion exchange where hydroxyl groups on the GO act as nucleation sites of Pd nanoparticles and their dispersions. The thermal treatments of the Pd-GO in H2 flow produced Pd-Graphene nanocomposites. Their catalytic performances in Sonogashira reaction were investigated. Morphological and chemical structures of the GO, Pd-GO, and Pd-Graphene were investigated using FT-IR, XRD, TEM, STEM, and XPS. The catalytic performances have been investigated using microwave reactor.

  • Adaptive cruise control Stop&Go system has been developed to reduce the driver's workload on highway or public road. This system is characterized by a moderate control of engine and brake actuator. A control system capable of modeling driver's driving characteristics has been constructed to provide natural vehicle behavior in full speed driving. But, ACC Stop&Go system has some limitations. One of the limitations is a detection limitation on near cut-in situation. This paper presents development of the near cut-in test procedure, finding of the limitation value on near cut-in scenario and performance comparisons on ACC Stop&Go system.

  • Monte-Carlo GO is a computer GO program that is sufficiently competent without using knowledge expressions of IGO. Although it is computationally intensive, the computational complexity can be reduced by properly pruning the IGO game tree. Here, I achieve this by using a potential model based on the knowledge expressions of IGO. The potential model treats GO stones as potentials. A specific potential distribution on the GO board results from a unique arrangement of stones on the board. Pruning using the potential model categorizes legal moves into effective and ineffective moves in accordance with the potential threshold. Here, certain pruning strategies based on potentials and potential gradients are experimentally evaluated. For different-sized boards, including an official-sized board, the effects of pruning strategies are evaluated in terms of their robustness. I successfully demonstrate pruning using a potential model to reduce the computational complexity of GO as well as the robustness of this effect across different-sized boards.

  • Measuring energy burn during intensive combat sport has been a challenging concerns for a long time. In the present article, the energy consumption during combat sports is measured by use of wearable GoBe2 equipped with nanotechnology measuring devices. In this regard, 12 professional combat athletes were asked to wear GoBe2 devices during different sessions of intensive combat exercises. The curves provided by GoBe2 nano-sensor devices are further collected and analyzed for different combat durations. On the other hand, energy consumption in these athlete is calculated using other validated methods to evaluate reliability of GoBe2 wearable devices. Based on the results obtained from these experiments a multi-parameter mathematical model is presented for estimation of combat calorie consumptions. The results show that nanotechnology in these type of sensors could help in estimation of calorie consumption during combat. Moreover, the reliability of using wearable GoBe2 sensors are satisfactory except for some specific conditions. The mathematical model provides a satisfactory results based on athlete physical condition and also duration of the combat with about 8% error margin in the results.

  • In this study, we report the one-pot synthesis of reduced graphene oxide (rGO) containing platinum nanoparticles with catalytic activity to break down hydrogen peroxide as a peroxidase-mimicking catalyst. A single reducing agent was used to reduce graphene oxide and a platinum precursor at a moderately low temperature of 70℃. The rGO was homogeneously decorated with platinum nanoparticles. The catalytic activity of Pt-rGO was investigated for the oxidation of 3,3',5,5'- tetramethylbenzidine (TMB), a peroxidase substrate, in the presence of hydrogen peroxide. The Pt-rGO coupled with glucose oxidase was also able to detect glucose at millimolar concentrations (up to 1 mM). Our results show that the Pt-rGO composite is a promising catalyst for the detection of hydrogen peroxide. This method was also applied for the detection of glucose.

  • Objectives : Abnormal regulation of glucose and impaired lipid metabolism that result from a defective or deficient insulin are the key etiological factor in type 2 diabetes mellitus. The our study investigated the effects of Gamioknyeo-jeon (GO) on blood glucose and lipid metabolism improved by it in db/db mice (a murine model of type 2 diabetes mellitus). Methods : The animals were divided into 3 groups: Normal groups were not-treated C57BL/6 mice; Control groups were treated orally with DW in db/db mice; GO groups were treated orally with GO (200 ㎎/㎏/day) in db/db mice. After mice were treated with GO for 5 weeks, we measured AST, ALT, creatinine, BUN, body weight, food intake, blood glucose, insulin and lipid levels (total cholesterol, HDL cholesterol, and LDL cholesterol and atherogenic index(AI) and cardiac risk factor(CRF).Results : Serum AST, ALT, creatinine, BUN levels were not changed by GO do not show any toxic effects. GO groups were decreased in body weight, food intake and blood glucose level among compared to Control groups. Also, GO groups were found to have atherogenic Index and cardiac risk factor as well as lipid metabolism improvement (total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol decrease). Finally, GO groups were increased the insulin compared to Normal and control groups. Conclusions : We suggest that GO may have the control effects of diabetes mellitus by improving blood glucose control and lipid metabolism.

  • In this study, we synthesized a combination of graphene oxide (GO) and titanium dioxide (TiO2) and confirm that GO can be used for CO2 photoreduction. TiO2 exhibited highly efficient combination with other conventional electric charges generated by these paration phenomenon for suppression of hole-electron recombination. This improved the efficiency of CO2 photoreduction. The synthetic form of GO-TiO2 used in this study was agraphene sheet surrounded by TiO2 powder. Efficiency and stability were enhanced by combination of GO and TiO2. In a CO2 photoreduction experiment, the highest CO conversion rate was 0.652 μmol/g·h in GO10-TiO2 (2.3-fold that of pure TiO2) and the highest CH4 production rate was 0.037 μmol/g·h in GO0.1-TiO2 (2.4-fold that of pure TiO2). GO enhances photocatalytic efficiency by functioning as a support and absorbent, and enabling charge separation. With increasing GO concentration, the CH4 level decreases to~45% due to decreased transfer of electrons. In this study, TiO2 together with GO yielded a different result than the normal doping effect and selective CO2 photoreduction.

  • Recently game addiction of young people has become a social issue. Therefore, many studies, mostly surveys, have been conducted to diagnose game addiction. In this paper, we suggest how to distinguish levels of addiction based on EEG. To this end, we first classify four groups by the degrees of addiction to internet games (High-risk group, Vigilance group, Normal group, Good-user group) using CSG (Comprehensive Scale for Assessing Game Behavior) and then measure their Event Related Potential(ERP) in the Go/NoGo Task. Specifically, we measure the signals of P300, N400 and N200 from the channels of the NoGo stimulus and Go stimulus. In addition, we extract distinct features from the discrete wavelet transform of the EEG signal and use these features to distinguish the degrees of addiction to internet games. The experiments in this study show that High-risk and Vigilance group exhibit lower Go-N200 amplitude of Fz channel than Normal and Good-user groups. In Go-P300 and NoGo-P300 of Fz channel, High-risk and Vigilance groups exhibit higher amplitude than Normal and Good-user group. In Go-N400 and NoGo-N400 of Pz channel, High-risk and Vigilance group exhibit lower amplitude than Normal and Good-user group. The test after the learning study of the extracted characteristics of each frequency band from the EEG signal showed 85% classification accuracy.

  • Although the history of the game of Go is more than 2,500 years, the theoretical studies of Go are still insufficient. In recent years a lot of studies using Artificial Intelligent(AI) have been conducted, but they do not provide the prominent theoretical reality. We applied Principal Component Analysis(PCA) to the professional Go openings, which are the early stage in Go, to analyze them especially focused on the Go game records of the professional 9-dan player Lee Sedol who is the world's top professional Go player. The results showed that among the 361 eigenvectors the 48 most significant eigenvectors capture most of the variance (99.9%) and the 30 most significant eigenvectors enable to possess 90.5 percent of the total variance. This result would be expected to considerably contribute to pattern recognition research of the professional Go openings in the near future.
