In case of lipsticks, observer's subjective sensitivity has been the main index to estimate gloss and gloss-lasting capability. The glossmeter has been applied to measure the gloss of make-up cosmetics like nail enamel, however is not effective for lipstick because of uneven sampling. Also gloss-lasting capability couldn't have been measured. In this study, we optimized measurement methods of gloss and gloss-lasting capability of lipsticks, which are highly correlated to subjective sensory tests. We set up the standard methods of gloss measurement by changing application conditions, for example, materials, sizes and application number of times and so on. And we introduced optimizing measurement system, in which shaking speed and temperature were controlled to measure gloss-lasting capability. Applying our methods, the gloss values were very close to the results of sensory tests, and we could express the gloss and gloss-lasting capability of lipsticks numerically Repeatability and reproducibility of our methods were certified by six-sigma statistical tool.

Using optimized standard methods, which were previously done by sensory tests, many factors have been analyzed and their significance were determined according to gloss and gloss-lasting capability in lipstick. Analyzing some factors we could conclude that the effective factors were the kind of wax, amount of volatile silicone oil, and stick hardness in the aspect of lipstick's gloss. And in the point of lipstick's gloss-lasting properties, vital few X's were quantity of volatile silicone oil stick hardness, and polymer contents and so on. We successfully have tried new analytical approach, 6-sigma to general property of lipstick. Furthermore this study will be a base on the prescription design in gloss-enhanced products.

Korea traditional handmade paper, Hanji, has been known for more than thousand years for its high strength, high whiteness, high gloss, good ink reception and long lasting quality. Main component fiber of the Hanji is called 'Dak', which is the bast fiber of the Korea paper mulberry ($\textit{Broussonetia kazinoki}$). Dak has long fiber length, and high cellulose DP, if processed properly. The quality of Hanji is partly from the superior quality of Dak over wood fiber, and partly from the traditional papermaking process. The traditional papermaking process includes pulping, bleaching, refining, use of natural polymer, and sheet making process. Every traditional process has its special role. Comparisons between the modern papermaking technology and the traditional process were made in this study. The traditional process effectively protected cellulose DP in pulping and bleaching process, protected fiber length in refining process, and developed the high strength in the sheet forming process over the modern papermaking process.
