With rapid growth in the amount of data transferred on the Internet, traditional storage systems have reached the limits of their capacity and performance. SAN (Storage Area Network), which connects hosts to disk with the Fibre Channel switches, provides one of the powerful solutions to scale the data storage and servers. In this environment, the maintenance of data consistency among hosts is an important issue because multiple hosts share the files on disks attached to the SAN. To preserve data consistency, each host can execute the disk I/O whenever disk read and write operations are requested. However, frequent disk I/O requests cause the deterioration of the overall performance of a SAN cluster. In this paper, we introduce a SANtopia global buffer manager to improve the performance of a SAN cluster reducing the number of disk I/Os. We describe the design and algorithms of the SANtopia global buffer manager, which provides a buffer cache sharing mechanism among the hosts in the SAN cluster. Micro-benchmark results to measure the performance of block I/O operations show that the global buffer manager achieves speed-up by the factor of 1.8-12.8 compared with the existing method using disk I/O operations. Also, File system micro-benchmark results show that SANtopia file system with the global buffer manager improves performance by the factor of 1.06 in case of directories and 1.14 in case of files compared with the file system without a global buffer manager.
Shape optimization of the 3-dimensional WIG airfoil with 3.0-aspect ratio has been performed by using the multi-objective genetic algorithm. The WIG ship effectively floating above the surface by the ram effect and the virtual additional aspect ratio by a ground is one of next-generation and cost-effective transportations. Unlike the airplane flying out of the ground effect, a WIG ship has possibility to capsize because of unsatisfying the static stability. The WIG ship should satisfy aerodynamic properties as well as a static stability. They tend to strong contradict and it is difficult to satisfy aerodynamic properties and static stability simultaneously. It is inevitable that lift force has to scarify to obtain a static stability. Multi-objective optimization technique that the individual objectives are considered separately instead of weighting can overcome the conflict. Due to handling individual objectives, the optimum cannot be unique but a set of nondominated potential solutions: pareto optimum. There are three objectives; lift coefficient, lift-to-drag ratio and static stability. After a few evolutions, the non-dominated pareto individuals can be obtained. Pareto sets are all the set of possible and excellent solution across the design space. At any selections of the pareto set, these are no better solutions in all design space

The production-rule generation from training examples is a hard problem that has large space and many local optimal solutions. Many learning methods are proposed for production-rule generation and genetic algorithms is an alternative learning method. However, traditional genetic algorithms has been known to have an obstacle in converging at the global solution area and show poor efficiency of production-rules generated. In this paper, we propose a production-rule generating method which uses genetic algorithm learning. By analyzing optimal sub-solutions captured by genetic algorithm learning, our method takes advantage of its schema structure and thus generates relatively small rule set.

This study examines eighteen elementary teachers knowledge and teaching practrice of climate change using the KQEM survey, modified from the survey developed by Leiserowitz, A., Smith, N. & Marlon, J.R. (2010). The survey includes 11 questions from KQEM survey and 2 open ended questions about teachers' knowledge of climate change and their understandings of important climate change concept for elementary students. All of the participant teachers were purposefully selected for the study and were participated in the study volunteerly. The data for this study were analyzed both quantitatively and qualitatively. The result of this study indicates that the teachers have knowledge of climate change specifically about the topics of causes of climate change and consequences of climate change such as shifting biome and ecological impacts. While most of the teachers described climate change phenomena using scientific knowledge, some of the teachers (N=2) showed misconceptions about climate change phenomena. Most of the teachers thought the causes of climate change and potential solutions to reduce climate change are important concept that elementary students need to understand about climate change. Actually, most of the teachers are currently teaching the causes and consequences of climate change (N=13) potential solutions to global warming (N= 8). This study could inform teacher educators about what elementary teachers understand about climate change and what elementary teachers are currently teaching about climate change.
Adaptive mesh refinement scheme is incorporated with the Boundary Element Method (BEM) in order to get accurate solution with relatively fewer unknowns for the case of magnetostatic field analysis and A new and simple posteriori local error estimation method is presented. The local error is defined as integration over the element of the difference between solutions acquired us ing second order and first order interpolation function and is used as the criterion for mesh refinement at given grid. Case study for two dimensional problems with singular point reveals that meshes are concentrated on the neighbor of singular point and the error is decreased gradually and the solutions calculated on the domain are converged to the analytic solution as the number of unknowns increases. The adaptive mesh gives much better rate of convergence in global errors than the uniform mesh.

A spectral element method(SEM) is introduced for the vibration analysis of a rectangular plate subject to dynamic concentrated loads. First, the spectral plate element is derived from the relations between the forces and displacements along the two opposite edges of plate element. The global spectral matrix equation is then formulated by assembling two spectral plate elements so that the dynamic concentrated load is located at the connection nodal line between two plate elements. the concentrated load is then spatially Fourier transformed in the direction of the connection nodal line to transform the two-dimensional plate problem into a simplified equivalent one-dimensional beam-like problem. We may benefit from these procedures in that the spectral results from the present SEM is compared with the exact analytical solutions to prove the remarkable accuracy of the present SEM, while this is not true for conventional finite element solutions, especially at high frequency.

In this paper, we establish a two-competitive-prey and one-predator Holling type II system by introducing a proportional periodic impulsive harvesting for all species and a constant periodic releasing, or immigrating, for the predator at different fixed time. We show the boundedness of the system and find conditions for the local and global stabilities of two-prey-free periodic solutions by using Floquet theory for the impulsive differential equation, small amplitude perturbation skills and comparison techniques. Also, we prove that the system is permanent under some conditions and give sufficient conditions under which one of the two preys is extinct and the remaining two species are permanent. In addition, we take account of the system with seasonality as a periodic forcing term in the intrinsic growth rate of prey population and then find conditions for the stability of the two-prey-free periodic solutions and for the permanence of this system. We discuss the complex dynamical aspects of these systems via bifurcation diagrams.

Among the various ERP solutions, SAP R/3 solution has been chosen because SAP system follows global standard processes which include most of business solutions for various industries. The ERP education is limited by learning theory only and they are not sufficient for understanding wide scale of business processes. Real world scenarios with hands on experience approach will be the core aspect of this article. As per real world scenarios, "ChungBuk Motors. Corp." has been created and students are asked to create the organization structure and the procurement process for this virtual enterprise. As a result, students attending this class showed better understanding of overall ERP system comparing to the students attended other ERP classes. The hands-on experience with real-world scenarios proved that it is most practical and efficient solution for educating ERP system.
Reliability allocation is defined as a problem of determination of the reliability for subsystems and components to achieve target system reliability. The determination of both optimal component reliability and the number of component redundancy allowing mixed components to maximize the system reliability under resource constraints is called reliability-redundancy allocation problem(RAP). The main objective of this study is to suggest a mathematical programming model and a hybrid parallel genetic algorithm(HPGA) for reliability-redundancy allocation problem that decides both optimal component reliability and the number of component redundancy to maximize the system reliability under cost and weight constraints. The global optimal solutions of each example are obtained by using CPLEX 11.1. The component structure, reliability, cost, and weight were computed by using HPGA and compared the results of existing metaheuristic such as Genetic Algoritm(GA), Tabu Search(TS), Ant Colony Optimization(ACO), Immune Algorithm(IA) and also evaluated performance of HPGA. The result of suggested algorithm gives the same or better solutions when compared with existing algorithms, because the suggested algorithm could paratactically evolved by operating several sub-populations and improve solution through swap, 2-opt, and interchange processes. In order to calculate the improvement of reliability for existing studies and suggested algorithm, a maximum possible improvement(MPI) was applied in this study.

The Optimal solutions of the design variables in internally finned tubes have been obtained for three-dimensional periodically fully developed turbulent flow and heat transfer. For a trapezoidal fin profile, performances of the heat exchanger are determined by considering the heat transfer rate and pressure drop, simultaneously, that are interdependent quantities. Therefore, Pareto frontier sets of a heat exchanger can be acquired by integrating CFD and a multi-objective optimization technique. The optimal values of fin widths $(d_1,\;d_2)$, fin height(h) and helix angle$(\gamma)$ are numerical1y obtained by minimizing the pressure loss and maximizing the heat transfer rate within ranges of $d_1=0.5\sim1.5mm$, $d_2=0.5\sim1.5mm$, $h=0.5\sim1.5mm$, and $\gamma=0\sim20^{\circ}$. For this, a general CFD code and a global genetic algorithm(GA) are used. The Pareto sets of the optimal solutions can be acquired after $30^{th}$ generation.
