In the present paper, glass fibers are substituted partially with monofilament fishnet and polyester matrix for making the composites. The composite specimens were prepared in accordance with ASTM for analyzing the flexural strength and dynamic mechanical properties. Furthermore, machinability revealed the interaction of glass fiber and partial substituted monofilament fishnet fiber with the matrix. Fiber pullouts on the fractured specimen during the physical testing of the composites are also investigated by COSLAB microscope. The results reveal that the fishnet based composites have appreciably higher flexural properties. Furthermore, the glass fiber, woven roving and fishnet composite has more storage modulus and significant mechanical damping. The composite specimens were fabricated by hand lay-up method. Hence, these composites are the possible applications to develop the value added products. The results of this study are presented.
The mechanical properties of composites are significantly affected by external environment. It is essential to understand the degradation of material performance and judge the material's lifetime in advance. In the current research, changes in mechanical properties of glass fiber and unsaturated polyester composite materials (GFRP, Glass fiber reinforced plastic) were investigated under different bending stress and submerged in hot water at a temperature of $80^{\circ}C$. Loading time of 100 H (hours), 200 H, 400 H, 600 H, 800 H for testing under stresses equal to 0% (stress-free state), 30%, 50% and 70% of the ultimate strength was applied on the GFRP specimens. From the values of bending stress, obtained from three-point bending test, fracture energy, failure time, and life curve were analysed. Moreover, a normalized strength degradation model for this condition was also developed. It was observed that within 100 H, the decline rate of the bending strength was proportional to the pressure.

Over the last decade fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) reinforcement consisting of glass, carbon, or aramid fibers embedded in a resin such as vinyl ester, epoxy, or polyester has emerged as one of the most promising and affordable solutions to the corrosion problems of steel reinforcement in structural concrete. But reinforcing rebar for concrete made of FRP rebar has linear elastic behavior up to tensile failure. For safety a certain plastic strain and an elongation greater than 3% at maximum load is usually required for steel reinforcement in concrete structures. The same should be required for FRP rebar. Thus, the main object of this study was to develop new type of hybrid FRP rebar Also, this study was evaluated to the mechanical properties of Hybrid FRP rebar. The Manufacture of the hybrid FRP rebar was achieved by pultrusion, and braiding and filament winding techniques. Tensile and interlaminar shear test results of Hybrid FRP rebar can provide its excellent tensile strength-strain behavior and interlaminar stress-strain behavior.
This paper evaluates the fatigue fracture behavior of a chopped strand glass mat/polyester composite both in ai, and sea water, Bending fatigue (R=-1) was performed on dry and wet specimens, that is respectively in air and sea water. Where the pH concentration of sea water was controlled to 6.0,8.2, 10.0 and the wet specimens were immersed in the sea waters for 4 months. Throughout the tests, fatigue cracks both in the dry and wet specimens, tested in the air or sea water, occurred at the beginning of the cycle, followed by either of two regions one decreasing and the other increasing as the crack growth rate increases.
During fatigue loading of composite materials, damage accumulation can be monitored by measuring their material properties. In this study, fatigue modulus is used as the damage index. Fatigue life of composite materials may be predicted analytically using damage models which are based on fatigue modulus and resultant strain. Damage models are propesed as funtions of applied stress level, number of fatigue cycle and fatigue life. The predicted life was comparable to the experimental result obtained using E-glass fiber reinforced epoxy resin materials and pultruded glass fiber reinforce polyester composites under two-stress level fatigue loading.

In this study, the interlaminar fracture toughness in mode I of a hybrid composite inserted with different types of non-woven tissues was determined. The interlaminar fracture toughness in mode I is obtained by a double cantilever beam test. The experiment is performed using three types of non-woven tissues: 8 $g/m^2$ of carbon tissue, 10 $g/m^2$ of glass tissue, and 8 $g/m^2$ of polyester tissue. Considering a specimen with no non-woven tissue as a reference, the interlaminar fracture toughness in mode I of specimens inserted with non-woven carbon and glass tissues decreases by as much as 6.3% and 11.4%, respectively. However, the fracture toughness of a hybrid composite specimen inserted with non-woven polyester tissue increases by as much as 69.4%. It is considered that the specimen inserted with non-woven polyester tissue becomes cheaper, and lighter, and the value of the fracture toughness becomes much greater than that of the non-woven carbon tissue.
Unsaturated Polyester Resin (UPR) is in general used as a resin to prepare for composite materials with reinforcing materials such as glass fibers. UPR, a thermosetting resin, is used in industry to prepare for sheet molding compound (SMC) molding prepreg that has excellent productivity and is advantageous for mass production among various molding methods of composite materials. The fiber-reinforced composite material using UPR as a matrix material is light and has the advantage of excellent physical properties, but it is weak against impact and is fragile. Four types of polyurethane were synthesized and added to UPR resin to overcome the shortcomings.
This paper presents a computational rational model to predict the ultimate and optimized load capacity of reinforced concrete (RC) beams strengthened by a combination of longitudinal and transverse fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) composite plates/sheets (flexure and shear strengthening system). Several experimental and analytical studies on the confinement effect and failure mechanisms of fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) wrapped columns have been conducted over recent years. Although typical axial members are large-scale square/rectangular reinforced concrete (RC) columns in practice, the majority of such studies have concentrated on the behavior of small-scale circular concrete specimens. A high performance concrete, known as polymer concrete, made up of natural aggregates and an orthophthalic polyester binder, reinforced with non-metallic bars (glass reinforced polymer) has been studied. The material is described at micro and macro level, presenting the key physical and mechanical properties using different experimental techniques. Furthermore, a full description of non-metallic bars is presented to evaluate its structural expectancies, embedded in the polymer concrete matrix. In this paper, the mechanism of mechanical interaction of smooth and lugged FRP rods with concrete is presented. A general modeling and application of various elements are demonstrated. The contact parameters are defined and the procedures of calculation and evaluation of contact parameters are introduced. The method of calibration of the calculated parameters is presented. Finally, the numerical results are obtained for different bond parameters which show a good agreement with experimental results reported in literature.

This paper investigates experimentally the confining effect, strengthening capacity and rebound rate of sprayed Fiber-Reinforced-Polymer (SFRP). From the method, resin and chopped fibers are sprayed separately from the nozzle with high pressure, and then they are attached to the concrete surface, so structure could be repaired. To evaluate the strengthening effect of sprayed FRP, cylindrical specimens and beam specimens were strengthening with SFRP. As main material of FRP, glass fiber and polyester resin are used. To investigate the optimum condition of sprayed FRP, the effects of fiber length, coating thickness, fiber volume ratio and concrete strength were examined. Capacities of sprayed FRP method were also compared to the FRP sheet method. In case of the sprayed FRP, rebound rate is important parameter considering economical efficiency and constructibility, so rebound rate of was discussed. From the test results, optimum conditions of sprayed FRP were determined. SFRP method showed superior strengthening capacities than FRP sheet method.
For this study, specimens were prepared using five types of composite resin and resin-reinforced glass ionomer Fuji II LC, and 29 days precipitation was done in four kinds of solution, which were soy sauce, gochujang, wine, and distilled water. Ten specimens for each coloring sample were divided into two groups, one those surfaces was polyester film and the other with 1200-grit abrasive paper, and 20 specimens per materials. Color change (${\Delta}{\ast}ab$) in the colored specimens is measured in 2days, 7days, 14days and 29days using spectrophotometer (CM-2600d, Konica, Minolta, Ramsey, NJ). All values were considered significant when P<0.05. 1. Each material is discolored over time under the influence of different storage solutions. 2. In soy source, among the specimens polished with polyester film, color change was observed in resin-modified glass ionomer Fuji II LC, prodigy and compomer F-2000 on day 2. Meanwhile, Fuji II LC showed noticeable color change in specimens prepared with 1200-grit sandpaper on day 2, which was followed by flowable resin on day 7. 3. On day 2, there was a color change with the specimens of flowable resin, resin-modified glass ionomer Fuji II LC and Prodigy among the hybrid specimen in the groups of polyester film in gochujang.
