The purpose of this study was to clarify the symbolic meanings of the beautiful girls' character fashion in modern Japanese animations. This study investigated the currency and characteristics of the beautiful girls' characters from the 80's to the present. The fashion style of a beautiful girl's character was categorized into four styles: trendy style, adult style, Lolita style and fantasy style. These fashion styles were analyzed, and as a result, three symbolic meanings of the fashion style of a beautiful girl's character are discussed. Firstly, these occidentalized body styles represented idealized body images that are not traditionally Japanese. Secondly, the adult style (growth) represented coming out, i.e. the desires to develop from a child into an adult. Thirdly, the adult (transformation), Lolita and fantastic styles appealed to maniac consumers, having a "Moe" feeling.

This study was undertaken to assess eating habits of 230 rural elementary school students living in ChunNam province. Anthropometric data showed that their mean height of girl students was significantly higher than that of boy students. Irregular eating pattern of girl students was noted. There was a significant difference in concerning on weight control between girls and boys. Girls especially view themselves as too obese even though their weight was in normal range and they were more concerned on weight control due to appearance. Nutrition education at school was an important factor ruling out peaky eating habits in participants. More effective nutrition education might be suggested to form a good eating habit which result in maintenance of ideal weight and promote health for rural elementary school students.

A study was made of influence of grandmother on the child's porsonality development. Behavior of randomly sampled 144 kindergarten children aged 5-6: 36 boys and 36 girls who came from general households were comparatively observed and rated by kindergartners who were able to correctly identify the children. Addition to this, interviews were conducted with their grandmothers by the auther. Rating scale used for behavior observations was consisted of 8 traits of personality: independency, dominance, co-operativeness, tolerance, responsibility, needs of achievement, agressiveness, and hostility. The scale for interviews was consisted of 3 domains of grandmothers attitude toward grandchildren; support, over control, and submissiveness. Both scales were carefully constructed and the validity of them were tested. The following results and conclusings were emerged from the study. 1. A moderate and statistically siggnificant relationships were found between the presence of grandmother and decline of dominance, tolerance, and needs of achievement of the boy and needs of achievement of the girl. Hostility of the girl increased by the presence of grandmother. 2. It was showed that most grandmothers inclined to support and submit to grandsons. 3. High negative correlations were obtained between anxiety of grandchildren and independency, cooperativeness, and needs of achievement of them.

I observed the important factors of clothing transition - Changes of Korean clothing & reception of Western-style dress - through the survey of the clothing of girl students during the period of enlightenment(1900∼1945) in this study as follows. 1) Stop to use of a long hood an old-fashioned woman shawI(once used to cover th head and upper body when going out). 2) Appearance of same colored Korean costume of the upper and lower sides. 3) Appearance of a short seamless one-piece skirt with a pair of shoulder girdles. 4) Appearance of school uniform, upper white lower black-Korean costume. 5) Appearance of school uniform, Western style. 6) Appearance of sports-wear. 7) Reformation of under-wear. 8) Appearance of short hair. 9) Appearance of socks & stockings and shoes.

Infectious diseases precede a significant proportion of acute ischemic strokes in children. Here, we report a case of acute ischemic stroke in a 3-year-old girl with a Mycoplasma pneumonia-associated respiratory tract infection. She developed an acquired prothrombotic state of protein S deficiency and had increased fibrinogen and fibrinogen degradation product levels and increased titer of antinuclear antibodies. However, these conditions were completely alleviated at the 1-month follow-up examination. Infection with M. pneumoniae may cause a transient prothrombotic state that can potentially cause a thrombus.

Sex cord tumors with annular tubules are known to originate from the sex cord of embryonic gonads that synthesize Sertoli cells, Leydig cells, granulosa cells, and theca cells of the ovarian stroma, while ovarian small cell carcinoma of the hypercalcemic type is a type of neuroendocrine tumor. Both these tumors are uncommon, potentially malignant neoplasms in children. We report the case of a sex cord tumor with annular tubules in an 11-year-old girl and a case of small cell carcinoma of the hypercalcemic type in a 10-year-old girl. We also discuss the prognosis and management of these tumors.

Coexistence of paroxysmal kinesigenic dyskinesia (PKD) with benign infantile convulsion (BIC) and centrotemporal spikes (CTS) is very rare. A 10-year-old girl presented with a 3-year history of frequent attacks of staggering while laughing and of suddenly collapsing while walking. Interictal electroencephalogram (EEG) revealed bilateral CTS, but no changes in EEG were observed during movement. The patient's medical history showed afebrile seizures 6 months after birth, while the family history showed that the patient's mother and relatives on the mother's side had similar dyskinesia. Genetic testing demonstrated that the patient had a heterozygous mutation, c.649_650insC, in the PRRT2 gene. To our knowledge, this constitutes only the second report of a patient with PKD, BIC, CTS, and a PRRT2 mutation.

Tessellations are the pattern of iterations of geometric symmetry and translation. We can find them in the works of Escher who is the famous Dutch artist, and the American Indean life. Also, we can find the beauty of tessellations in the Korean traditional house door, Buddist temple architecture, palace's fence, etc. In the article, the figures of patterns we present are bird, fish, cat, pig, elephant, penguin, child and horse riding man, including Escher's, which are constructed using the computer geometric program, GSP (Geometer's Sketchpad). We want to talk about girl's disposition toward mathematics related to the figures. If they are supported by this kind of interesting figures constructed by their own hands, students will have more interest in learning geometric figures.

Due to its complex pathophysiology and wide spectrum of clinical manifestations, the diagnosis of CRPS is often missed in the early stage by primary care physicians. After being treated by a primary care physician for 5 months for chronic cellulitis, a 16-year-old girl was referred to our hospital with features of type-1 CRPS of the right upper extremity. Inability to diagnose early caused prolonged suffering to the girl with all the consequence of CRPS. The patient responded well with marked functional recovery from multimodal therapy. Ability to distinguish CRPS from other pain conditions, referral for specialty care at the appropriate time and full awareness of this condition and its clinical features among various healthcare professionals are essential in reducing patient suffering and stopping its progression towards difficult-to-treat situations.

Early childhood caries is a widespread condition that requires attention; however, its treatment remains a challenge in terms of child behavior management. This study describes the usefulness of customized zirconia crowns for the restoration of deciduous teeth through the evaluation of some cases. Three cases are described: a 29-month-old girl who presented with severe early childhood caries affecting anterior tooth, a 50-month-old boy who presented with extensive caries of his anterior tooth, and 70-month-old girl who presented with extensive caries of his primary posterior dentition. These prefabricated, zirconium-based ceramic crowns ($Nusmile^{TM}$ NuSmile) are available in various sizes, shapes and colors. Before the treatment, radiographs and intraoral photographs were taken to evaluate the appropriateness of treatment. Our findings indicate that customized zirconia crowns may be appropriate for restoring the deciduous teeth. Further long-term clinical studies are required to clarify the usefulness of this restorative method.
