Development of the 3D Rail Profile Reconstruction Method Improving the Measurement Accuracy of Railway Abrasion (레일 마모도의 측정 정밀도 향상을 위한 3차원 레일 프로파일 재구성 기법 개발)

  • The The contactless railway abrasion measurement system have to satisfy two conditions to increase the measurement accuracy as follows. The laser region projected on the rail have to be extracted without the geometrical distortion. The mapping of the acquired laser region data on the rail profile have to be matched with the cross section of rail, exactly. But, the conventional railway abrasion measurement system is required the post image processing with a camera model and a perspective transform for the exact mapping between the cross section of rail and the coordinate data extracted from a line laser region or the raw image obtained from a camera because the image captured from the camera has an oblique viewpoint. So, the measured rail profile data had limits to the measurement accuracy because of a discontinuity point. In this Paper, we propose the 3D rail profile reconstruction method to increase the accuracy of the railway abrasion measurement system applying the modified camera model and perspective transform to the image obtained from the bidirectional rail.

A Preliminary Study on Measuring Void Fraction in a Fuel Rod Assembly by using an X-ray Imaging System (X선 영상 장치를 이용한 핵연료 집합체 내 기포율 측정을 위한 선행 연구)

  • Bubbles are generated by the boiling of the cooling water when an accident occurs in the reactor and then in order to measure the void fraction, the Optical Fiber Probe(OFP) and optical camera are used in thermal hydraulic safety research. However, such an optical method is not suitable for measuring the void fraction in a $17{\times}17$ array of fuel rods due to the geometrical limitations. This study was conducted as a preliminary study using x-ray system and various phantoms before applying to rod bundles. Through radiographic and tomographic experiments, the tube voltage of the x-ray generator was 130 kVp and the tube current was 1 mA. In addition, it is possible to measure the hole of 1mm in size visually through the bubble resolution phantom, and it is confirmed that the contrast is relatively decreased in the inside of the freon in the case of the contrast evaluation using the road phantom. However, we could obtain good image without distortion when reconstructing the image. Bubble generation phantom experiments were used to confirm the flow direction of the bubbles and to acquire tomography images. The image J tool was used to measure the void fraction of 18 % for a single tomography image. This study has carried out previous researches for the measurement of the bubble rate around the nuclear fuel and could be used as a basic research for continuous research.

Weighted Census Transform and Guide Filtering based Depth Map Generation Method (가중치를 이용한 센서스 변환과 가이드 필터링 기반깊이지도 생성 방법)

  • Generally, image contains geometrical and radiometric errors. Census transform can solve the stereo mismatching problem caused by the radiometric distortion. Since the general census transform compares center of window pixel value with neighbor pixel value, it is hard to obtain an accurate matching result when the difference of pixel value is not large. To solve that problem, we propose a census transform method that applies different 4-step weight for each pixel value difference by applying an assistance window inside the window kernel. If the current pixel value is larger than the average of assistance window pixel value, a high weight value is given. Otherwise, a low weight value is assigned to perform a differential census transform. After generating an initial disparity map using a weighted census transform and input images, the gradient information is additionally used to model a cost function for generating a final disparity map. In order to find an optimal cost value, we use guided filtering. Since the filtering is performed using the input image and the disparity image, the object boundary region can be preserved. From the experimental results, we confirm that the performance of the proposed stereo matching method is improved compare to the conventional method.

A Semi-fragile Watermarking Algorithm of 3D Mesh Model for Rapid Prototyping System Application (쾌속조형 시스템의 무결성 인증을 위한 3차원 메쉬 모델의 Semi-fragile 워터마킹)

  • In this paper, semi-fragile watermarking algorithm was proposed for the application to RP(Rapid Prototyping) system. In the case of the perceptual change or distortion of the original one, the prototype product will be affected from the process because the RP system requires the high precision measure. Therefore, the geometrical transformations like translation, rotation and scaling, the mesh order change and the file format change are used in the RP system because they do not change the basic shapes of the 3D models, but, the decimation and the smoothing are not used because they change the models. The proposed algorithm which is called semi-fragile watermarking is robust against to these kinds of manipulations which preserve the original shapes because it considers the limitations of the RP system, but fragile against to the other manipulations which change the original shapes. This algorithm does not change the model shapes after embedding the watermark information, that is, there is no shape difference between the original model and the watermarked model. so, it will be useful to authenticate the data integrity and hide the information in the field of mechanical engineering which requires the high precision measure.
