  • Purpose: This study aims to utilize geographic data to analyze how various retail formats of large-scale stores around the traditional market affect the performance of the traditional market in Seoul, Korea. Research design, data, and methodology: The two types of catchment areas were demarcated (circle of 1km radius and Thiessen polygon) for each traditional market, and the large-scale stores located within each catchment area were identified for 153 traditional markets in Seoul, Korea. Additionally, multiple regression analysis was utilized. Results: The results revealed that the influence on the performance of the traditional markets were different depending on the retail format of the large-scale stores. Large discount stores were found to have a negative effect on the sales and the visitors of traditional markets, whereas complex shopping malls and department stores had a positive effect on the traditional markets. Conclusions: As a result of the differences in the retail format such as product categories and leisure functions, the impact of some large-scale stores on the traditional market may have a greater agglomeration effect than the consumer churn effect. Therefore, it is suggested that in the regulation of these large-scale stores, the differences in retail format should be considered for the future.

  • Individualities of precious health mushroom called Zhenghonggu@ from respective protections scattered among all main mountains of Fujian China were collected and recognized locally, then compared with Russula griseocarnosa. Their internal transcribed spacer (ITS) region (ITS1, ITS2 and 5.8S rDNA) of the nuclear rDNA were amplified, AMOVA analyzed, nested clade analyzed and then compared with the ITS sequences of relative Russula species from other regions of China to confirm the taxonomic status of Zhenghonggu$^@$ and its population structure. Total 23 haplotypes from different protections of Fujian can be clustered into three clades similar to the three lineages of Dahongjun$^@$ from southeastern China reported by Li et al. The geographic distribution characteristic of these three phylogeny clades may be closely coupled with the vegetation regionalization and/or the differences of coenosium construction of Fagaceae that is the host of Russula griseocarnosa. The correlation of taxonomy, phylogeny and geographical distribution of Russula are discussed.

  • To verify the validity of Hemiculter eigenmanni (Jordan and Metz, 1913), we conducted morphological analysis on two syntypes of Hemiculter leucisculus (Basilewsky, 1855) and holotype of H. eigenmanni. Although some morphological differences were recognized between two nominal type specimens, it is concluded intraspecific or geographic variation through comparison with many specimens collected from Korea. Previously suggested synonymy between H. leucisculus and H. eigenmanni was reconfirmed, therefore the latter becomes a junior synonym of the former.

  • We report adventages of employing MgO as a differentiation index for the Namwon granitic complex. It is shown to be much more sensitive than the usual Harker index. The complex can be divided into two groups on the basis of $TiO_2$/MgO ratio. The low $TiO_2$/MgO group consists of hornblende biotite tonalite-granodiorite, porphyritic hornblende biotite granodiorite (PHBGd) and part of biotite granite (loBG). PHBGd shows its own distinct variation in the low group. This group is characterized in most cases by the presence of hornblende, even if it occurs as a trace amount. The high $TiO_2$/MgO group consists of part of biotite granite (hiBG) and two mica granite. The major element differences between rock types are also apparent in biotite chemistry. These chemical data indicate that at least two distinct origins of magma are rquired for the complex. Two kinds of biotite granite revealed in this study show distinct geographic distribution, suggesting that a new geologic map should be made.

  • Relatively low numbers of malignant mesotheliomas have been reported from Eastern Asia. In order to explore the causes of this fact, the available data on mesothelioma incidence/mortality in five countries (Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Singapore) were reviewed. Data on the industrial histories of the above countries were also examined. Mesothelioma incidence was low, despite a history of high shipbuilding and port activities, in which heavy exposure to asbestos generally has occurred. Underestimation of mesothelioma could partly explain the above discrepancy. Moreover, in some areas a sufficient latency period for mesothelioma development may have not yet elapsed, due to recent industrialization. However, other possibilities have to be considered. The cancer epidemiology in Eastern Asia differs deeply from that seen in Western countries, an indication of differences in etiologic factors of cancer as well as in co-factors. In addition, the oncogenic spectrum of asbestos is wide, and not completely defined. In a very different milieu from that of Western countries, asbestos could preferentially hit targets other than serosal membranes.

  • This study examines changing norms concerning divorce in societal context of the historical perspective. The analysis indicates that the changes in divorce norms were particularly striking during industrialization and urbanization. In traditional society, there are various divorce norms according to each era. In Sam Kuk era, there is not the norms of divorce, but there is norms of divorce by Yea Kdeu ideology in Gorea era. During the Zo Sun era, the strict restrict seven possible norms and three overriding ones for divorce rates significantly rose in after the industrialization in response to the continuation of such social changes as greater participation of women in labor force, increased alternative to traditional marriage, the declining stigma attached to divorce, and the rising standard for individual happiness in marriage and so on. Divorce rates are also affected by other factors, such as political and economic conditions, geographic differences, and various demographic characteristics.

  • Our nation has a problem with discrimination of income distribution and inefficient of resources distribution caused by real estate price rising from a sudden economy growth and industrialization. Specially, in recent years, there is a great disparity of condominium price between the north and south of the Han river. Because the housing price is deciede by the immanent value of a house and neighborhood effects of the regional where the house is situated, the housing price is occurred difference. In this study, I analyzed the differences of housing price determinants about condominium developments in the old and new residential areas, and found the important factors that affect the condominium price using Structural Equation Modeling(SEM) The purpose of study is to analyze the influence of various factors of housing price. Also, this study tried to predict real estate market and to establish previous effective real estate policy.

  • In this study, for the application of land resource evaluation using GIS map overlay method, I have considered about the process that can draw out right results from the problems involving multiple hierarchical indicators and weights. The assumption of this research is that there are two processes in the application of analytic hierarchy process(AHP) and the different results will appear. The two processes are as follows; (1) calculate directly the comprehensive weights to the indicators and overlay the layers(Method I) and (2) repeat the process of map overlay and standardization(Method II). The two precesses are applied on the study site based on the envirosystem in Bong-Hwa, and then some differences were found in the results and it was suggested that the Method II is more reasonable.
