  • The group of automorphisms of the first Weyl algebra acts on commuting ordinary differential operators with polynomial coefficient. In this paper we prove that for fixed generic spectral curve of genus two the set of orbits is infinite.

  • The genus Discorsopagurus and two species belonging to this genus, Discorsopagurus maclaughlinae and Discorsopagurus tubicola, are herein first reported in Korean waters. Species belonging to Discorsopagurus are easily distinguished from other hermit crabs of the family Paguridae by their telsons that lack indentations and other characteristics such as straight abdomens, fused third and fourth abdominal tergites, and symmetrical uropods. Discorsopagurus maclaughlinae and D. tubicola were found to live in a tube made by a polychaete tubeworm. The two species differ in the shape of the posterior margin of the telson, the length of the pereopod, and the presence of setae on the antennal flagellum. Discorsopagurus tubicola is reported for the second time in the world. In this paper, there will be provided plates and descriptions of the two species.

  • Two new marine gastrotrichs of the genus Pseudostomella, P. longifurca and P. koreana, are described from the shallow sublittoral sand bottoms of South Korea. Pseudostomella longifurca n. sp. is characterized by the cuticular armature with tetrancres, five dorsal papillae on the prebuccal apparatus, four dorsolateral adhesive tubes, and elongated pedicle. Pseudostomella koreana n. sp. is distinguished from its congeners by the small body, tetrancres, two pairs of dorsolateral adhesive tubes, and tube-shaped copulatory organ. A brief review of the genus is prepared, with the character comparison table for all congeners currently recognized, and a revised key to the species of Pseudostomella. This is the first record of the genus Pseudostomella from East Asia.

  • In the plant virus world, there are six genera of plant viruses with dsDNA genomes and six genera with ssDNA (Fauquet et al., 2005). The dsDNA viruses are comprised of 4 genera in the Caulimoviridae, the genus Badnavirus and the genus Tungrovirus. The ssDNA viruses are comprised of four genera in Geminiviridae, and the two genera Nanovirus and Babuvirus in the Nanoviridae. The genera Babuvirus and Badnavirus are not well studied in Asia. However, we recognized the significance of two species, Banana bunchy top virus (BBTV) in the genus Babuvirus and Banana streak virus (BSV) in the genus Badnavirus, during the survey of banana viruses in Asia. Their main characters will be introduced in this mini-review.

  • The taxonomic study of the genus Myzia Mulsant, 1846 in Korea is presented. The genus Myzia contains five species worldwide and two species currently recognized in Palaearctic region. Until now, only M. oblongoguttata (Linnaeus, 1758) has been known in Korea, but we found M. gebleri (Crotch, 1874) for the first time in Korea. We redescribed these two Korean species of the genus Myzia with photographs of the habitus and detailed illustrations of their aedeagus and other appendages. A taxonomic key to the species of Korean Myzia beetles are also provided.

  • Two marine isopods, Pentias hayi Richardson, 1904 and P. thompsoni Collinge, 1916 were verified as unrecorded species in South Korea. The genus Pentias is reported for the first time in South Korea. These two isopods were collected from Heuksan-do Island and Ulleung-do Island from South Korea, respectively. We provide descriptions of the diagnostic characteristics, illustrations of two species and their partial sequences of the mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase subunit 1 (CO1) for molecular characteristics.

  • Seven new species in two genera, Sarcotragus and Bergquistia (Demospongiae: Dictyoceratida: Irciniidae), are described from Jeju Island, Korea. The separation of the two genera was made on basis of morphological evidence in skeletal structure, especially fasciculation of primary fibres and filament thickness. Two new species in the genus Sarcotragus and five new species in the genus Bergquistia are compared with other reported species.
