  • 한국의 동해 및 남해로부터 침염주발갯지렁이류(Langerhansia Czerniavsky, 1881) 2 종, 참염주발갯지렁이류(Typosyllis Langerhans, 1879) 9종의 분류목록을 작성하였다. 그 중, 4종 L. cornuta(Lathke, 1843), L. rosea(Langerhans, 1879), T. okadai(Fauvel, 1934) and T. hyalina(Grube, 1863)은 우리나라에서 처음으로 보고되는 종이며, 침염주발갯지렁이류는 우 리나라에서 처음으로 보고되는 속이다.

The Genus Philanthus (Hymenoptera: Sphecidae: Philanthinae) in Korea

  • The genus Philanthus Fabricius, 1790 in Korea are reviewed, and two species, Philanthus triangulum and P. coronata, are treated. The former is new to Korea. This species is easily separated from congeners by dense punctures in propodral enclosure and tri-forked marking in lower face. DNA barcoding test is supportive in our identification as well as conspecitficity of Korean materials showing variation in size and coloration. The observed data on flower associations of this species specified with domestic localites and date are separately provided. The current status of Philanthus coronatus that has been the only representative of the genus but forgotten for a lengthy time in Korea is discussed.

  • This experiment was designed to elucidate the life cycle of 7 species (Rh.nigricans, Rh. delemar, Rh.oryzae, Rh.acidus, Rh.tritici, Rh. formosaensis and Rh. japonicus) in genus Rhizopus isolated from Korean soil, so as to seize the appropriate stage for detecting their chromosomal number and nuclear size under the method of thin layer slide culture using modified Rogers(1965a) medium. The results are summarized as the folowings ; 1. The haploid chromosome number are found 16 in Rh. japonicus are 8, respectively. 2. Comparing the 7 species of Rhizopus with each other, it may be concluded that the basic haploid chromosome number of genus Rhizopus distributed in Korean soil are 8 and that Rh. nigricans is double of the basic hapolid chromosome number (n = 16). Besides them, the other two species (Rh. tritici and Rh. formosaensis) are believed aneuploids.

  • Glycerol-spore formation of wild myxobacteria isolated in Korea has been tested. One third of the wild myxobacterial isolates belonged to the genus Myxococcus and Corallococcus produced a large number of glycerol-spores in the presence of glycerol or dimethyl sulfoxide. However, two third of the other wild myxobacterial isolates belonged to the genus Myxococcus and Corallococcus produced a negligible number of spores under the same condition. In addition, the myxobacteral isolates belonged to the other genus, such as Stigmatella, Archangium, and Cystobacter, failed to produce a noticeable number of glycerol-spores.

  • Myelochroa (Asahina) Elix & Hale is a common foliose lichen genus found on the Korean Peninsula. Since it was first recorded nearly two decades ago, no detailed taxonomic or revisionary study of the genus has been conducted. Thus, the current study was conducted to carry out a detailed taxonomic and revisionary study of Myelochroa in South Korea. This study was based on specimens deposited in the Korean Lichen Research Institute (KoLRI). Detailed taxonomic studies and a literature review confirmed the presence of twelve species of Myelochroa from S. Korea, including one new record, Myelochroa xantholepis (Mont. & Bosch) Elix & Hale. Descriptions of each species with their morphological, anatomical and chemical characters together with a key to all known Myelochroa species are presented.

  • The solitary wasp genus Phimenes (Hymenoptera: Vespidae: Eumeninae) was reported to occur in Vietnam by , represented by one taxon, Phimenes flavopictus continentalis (Zimmermann), which was synonymized under nominotypical Phimenes flavopictus by . A note on gender of this genus is made in the text. One more species, Phimenes indosinensis is recorded in this study from Dak Lak in the southern and Son La in the northwestern parts of Vietnam for the first time. Detailed descriptions of the female and male of the latter are provided with figures. A key to the two species from Vietnam is also provided.

  • Two species of the genus Parthenocodrus Pschorn-Walcher, 1958 (Hymenoptera: Proctotrupidae) are reported: P. elongatus from Japan and South Korea and P. puncticauda from South Korea. Parthenocodrus elongatus is easily distinguished by having posterior surface of propodeum without transverse carinae and ovipositor sheath with distinct longitudinal striations. Parthenocodrus puncticauda is easily distinguished by having posterior surface of propodeum with transverse carinae and ovipositor sheath without distinct longitudinal striations. This genus is also newly recorded in each country. Redescriptions and photographs of the diagnostic characters are provided. All specimens for this study are deposited in the Yeungnam University (YNU), Gyeongsan-si, South Korea.

Divergence time estimation of an ancient relict genus Mankyua (Ophioglossaceae) on the young volcanic Jejudo Island in Korea

  • Mankyua chejuense is the only member of the monotypic genus Mankyua (Ophioglossaceae) and is endemic to Jejudo Island, Korea. To determine the precise phylogenetic position of M. chejuense, two cpDNA regions of 42 accessions representing major members of lycophytes are obtained from GenBank and analyzed using three phylogenetic analyses (maximum parsimony, maximum likelihood, and Bayesian inference). In addition, the divergence time is estimated based on a relaxed molecular clock using four fossil calibration points. The phylogenetic position of Mankyua still appears to be uncertain, representing either the earliest diverged lineage within Ophioglossaceae or a sister to the clade containing Ophioglossum and Helminthostachys. The most recent common ancestor of Ophioglossaceae and its sister lineage, Psilotum, was estimated to be 256 Ma, while the earliest divergence of Mankyua was estimated to be 195 Ma in the early Jurassic.

  • 1988년 10월부터 1992년 10월 사이에 남한의 4개 지역에서 채집된 철성충중 Chordodes속에 속하는 1신종 Chordodes koreensis, n. sp, 와 1미기록중 Chordodes japonensis Inoue, 1952를 기재한다. 본 Chordodes속은 한국에서 처음 발표되어 2종의 큐티클을 주사전자현미경으로 관찰, 기재하였다.
