우리나라 잡초이름의 약어 제안 (Suggestion of Abbreviation for Korean Weeds Name)

  • 우리나라 농경지에서 발생하는 잡초 68과 433종에 대한 공통적인 약어(가칭 KSWS code, the Korean Society Weed Science code)를 만들어 잡초연구자의 연구효율성을 증진시키고자 한다. 이들 약어는 이미 미국잡초학회에서 널리 사용되고 있는 Bayer code를 인용하여 한국 잡초 현황에 맞게 재구성하였다. KSWS code는 알파펫 5자로 구성되며, 속명에서 3자, 종소명에서 2자를 떼어내어 조합을 만들었다. 그리고 변이종이 있을 경우에는 속명의 1자, 변이종명의 1자로 KSWS code를 조합하였다.

  • 참복과 (Tetraodontidae) 어류의 외부형태 형질 가운데 후각기관, 옆줄, 피부극. 체형 및 체색의 특징을 조사하기 위하여. 1989년 9월부터 1994년 7월까지 우리나라 20개 지점에서 10속 27종의 표본을 채집하여 관찰한 결과는 다음과 같다. 1. 참복과 어류 가운데 참복속(Takifugu), 밀복속(Lagocephalus), 은띠복속(Plurancanthus). 불룩복속(Spheoides) 및 대치복속 (Feroxodon) 어류의 콧구멍은 2개이며. 수지복속 (Ephippion)과 청복속 (Canthigaster) 어류는 1개이고, 반면에 별복속 (Boesemanichthys), 꺼끌복속(Arothron) 및 첼로복속 (Chelonodon) 어류는 없다. 2. 밀복속, 불룩복속, 별복속, 꺼끌복속 및 대치복속어류의 옆줄은 몸의 옆쪽에 단지 1열로 잘 발달되어 있으며, 참복속과 은띠복속 어류는 2열이고, 첼로복속과 수지복속 어류는 꼬리자루 부분에서 2열로 융합되어 있다. 3. 청복속 어류는 옆줄 및 후각기관의 형태가 참복과의 다른 속 어류와 많은 차이를 보여 구별되었다 4. 수지복(Ephippion guttifer)의 피부극은 비늘이 완전하게 변형되어 등쪽과 옆쪽의 것은 딱딱한 나무껍질 모양을 하며, 꼬리쪽의 것은 긴 막대기 모양으로 특이하였다. 5. 피부극을 가지고 있는 종은 22종으로 밀복속 어류와 참복속의 까칠복 (Takifugu stictonotus) 및 꺼끌복속(Arothron)의 꺼끌복 (A. Stellatus)의 피부극은 등쪽의 것보다 배쪽의 것이 크고, 첼로복 (Chelonodon patoca)과 청복 (Canthigaster tivulata)은 등쪽의 피부극의 뿌리가 3개이었다. 6. 밀복속 어류의 대부분은 피부극을 등쪽과 배쪽에 가지고 있으나, 민밀복 (L. inermis)은 몸 전체에 피부극이 없는 점에서 밀복 (L. lunaris), 은밀복 (L. wheeleri), 흑밀복 (L.gloveri) 및 은민밀복 (L. laevigatus)과 구별된다.

  • This study focused on the Healthy Family Support Center and Multicultural Family Support Center, which supervise the main field of family resource management with institutional household factors. Our research objective was to present datas demonstrating an improvement in the organizational effectiveness of the Multicultural Family Support Center. The burn out average of employees working for the non-profit organization was 2.45, emotional burnout was 2.87, achievement was 2.43, and dehumanization was 2.06. The effectiveness average of the nonprofit organization was 3.56, profitability was 3.65, job satisfaction was 3.58, and organizational commitment was 3.45. The generic characters that caused burnout were age, information, and professionalism in research. The generic characters and burnout that affected the organizational effectiveness included a lack of accomplishment, and emotional exhaustion, and depersonalization, lack of information and professionalism, lack of external resources in that order. The purpose of this research was to determine the effects of burnout in order to prevent job changes and to provide basic data for the improvement of organizational effectiveness.

버어리종, 황색종, 양건종, 담배의 유전분석에 관한 연구 II. $F_2$의 잡종강세, 상관 및 조합능력 (STUDIES ON THE GENERIC ANALYSIS AMONG BURLEY, FLUE-CURED AND SUN-CURED TYPE TOBACCO II. Heterosis, Correlation and Combining Ability of $F_2$ Hybrid.)

  • The present study was carried out to obtain some basic informations of the breeding of tobacco varieties. Genetically divergent 8 varieties, 3 flue-cured, 2 burley and 3 sun-cured tobaccos, were used in half diallel cross. In order to analyze the heterosis, combining abilities, modes of inheritance and correlations for some agronomic and chemical characters, 8 parents and 28 $F_2$ were tested. The results obtained were summarized as follows: The percentages of heterosis for yield, stem diameter, internode length and total sugar content in $F_2$ hybrid were positive , where-as those for the other characters were negative. Yield had significant positive genotypic and phenotypic correlations with plant height, days to flower, leaves per plant, leaf length, leaf width and leaf shape index (Leaf length/leaf width). General (GCA) and specific combining abilities (SCA) for all characters of $F_2$ hybrid were significant. In the effect of GCA, yield was greater in combinations of Bulgaria and Xanthi, days to flower and leaves per plant were those of Burley 21 and Va 528, leaf length and width were those of Coker 139, respectively. In the effect of SCA, the major part of characters were greater than those of others in the combinations of Burley 21, Va 528, Hicks.

Cyanobacterial Taxonomy: Current Problems and Prospects for the Integration of Traditional and Molecular Approaches

  • The application of modern ecological, ultrastructural and molecular methods, aided by the cultivation of numerous cyanobacterial morphotypes, has substantially changed our knowledge of these organisms. It has led to major advances in cyanobacterial taxonomy and criteria for their phylogenetic classification. Molecular data provide basic criteria for cyanobacterial taxonomy; however, a correct phylogenetic system cannot be constructed without combining genetic data with knowledge from the previous 150 years research of cyanobacterial diversity. Thus, studies of morphological variation in nature, and modern morphological, ultrastructural, ecophysiological and biochemical characters need to be combined in a “polyphasic” approach. Taxonomic concepts for generic and infrageneric ranks are re-evaluated in light of combined phenotypic and molecular criteria. Despite their usefulness in experimental studies, the limitations of using strains from culture collections for systematic and nomenclatural purposes is highlighted. The need for a continual revision of strain identification and proper nomenclatural practice associated with either the bacteriological or botanical codes is emphasized. Recent advances in taxonomy are highlighted in the context of prospects for understanding cyanobacterial diversity from natural habitats, and the evolutionary and adaptational processes that cyanobacteria undergo.

Molecular phylogeny of Daucus (Apiaceae): Evidence from nuclear ribosomal DNA ITS sequences

  • The Apiaceae genus Daucus consists of approximately 25 species (including carrots) which are characterized by the presence of bracts in pedunculate umbels, dorsally compressed mericarps, hairs on primary ridges, and uniseriately arranged spines on the secondary ridges of the fruit. Taxonomically, Daucus has been considered to be one of the most problematic genera in the Apiaceae due to the highly variable fruit morphology. Despite taxonomic controversy and economic importance of the genus, no rigorously constructed estimate of phylogenetic relationships exists. To examine generic limit and relationships among species of Daucus and its putatively related taxa, phylogenetic analyses of characters derived from nuclear ribosomal DNA ITS sequences were conducted. Two major clades emerged within Daucus, but neither of them have been previously recognized using morphological characters. The phylogeny also provides taxonomic status of recently reported new species of Daucus, D. arcanus and D. conchitae.

한국산 망둥어 과 어류의 척주와 담기골에 관한 연구 (Study of Vertebral Column and Pterygiophores in Gobiidae (Pisces, Perciformes) from Korea)

  • 1984년 4월부터 1992년 10월가지 국내에서 채집된 망둑어과 어류 4아과 26속 45종의 총 348개체를 대상으로 제1등지느러미 담기골의 배열식, 척추골수, 상미축골수 및 제 1혈관극 전방의 뒷지느러미 담기골수를 조사하여 비교하였다. 제1등지느러미 담기골의 배열식과 상미축골수는 속의 특징을 잘 나타내주었으며, 척추골수와 제1혈관극 전방의 뒷지느러미 담기골수는 종에 따라 고유한 특징을 보여주었다. 이중 이전에 망둑어 과의 아과를 구분하는 특징으로 사용되어진 상미축골수는 망둑어 아과의 분류에서는 적합하지 않았다.

본초학 교재에 수록된 목본약용식물의 종명(種名)의 어원연구 (Ethymology of species names of woody herbal medicines from herbalogy textbook)

  • Objective : This study was conducted to investigate into the etymology of 218 species names for 128 woody herbal medicines in Korea. Methods : The examined herbalogical books and research paper which published at home and abroad. Results ; This study was conducted to investigate into the etymology of 218 species names for 128 woody herbal medicines in Korea. The origins of species names for woody herbal medicines in Korea were in order of the local place name by thirty seven(16.97%), the dialects and old name by twenty two(10.09%), the morphological characters of leaves by twenty(9.17%), the plant's constituents and uses by fifty(6.88%), the person's name by fifty(6.88%), the other's generic names and species names by thirteen(5.96%), the morphological characters of flowers by twelve(5.50%), the morphological characters of stems by twelve(5.50%), the words meaning a number by twelve(5.50%), the relative characteristic by comparing with the same genus by twelve(5.50%), and so on. Conclusion : According to the investigation which origin of species names of woody herbal medicines from herbalogy textbook, the number of species names of herbal medicine originated from the local place names by 37(16.97%) was the most of all.

Pollen morphology and character evolution in the subtribe Neoguillauminiinae (Euphorbiaceae)

  • A pollen morphological study was conducted using light and scanning electron microscopy involving six species belonging to the subtribe Neoguillauminiinae. Pollen samples from the six species are tricolporate, and the colpi are surrounded by broad margo, with the widest width in the equator, narrower toward the pole, and rounded at the end. Based on the pollen morphology, pollen of the species in the subtribe Neoguillauminiinae were divided into four types: the Neoguillauminia type (T1), the C. collinus type (T2), the C. casuarinoides type (T3) and the C. paucifolius type (T4). The generic divergence between Neoguillauminia and Calycopeplus was supported by the pollen characters of the size, amb and lumina shape. In particular, the traits of rounded shape in the outline of the polar view and circular lumina, which appear only in the pollen grains of N. cleopatra, support the recognition of Neoguillauminia as a monotypic genus. Calycopeplus oligandrus and C. paucifolius had the same reticulate pattern of pollen grains, supporting Forster's hypothesis that these two species are closely related. On the other hand, the close relationship between the morphologically similar C. collinus and C. casuarinoides was not supported by the pollen characters. Within the subtribe there are two equally parsimonious hypotheses regarding the evolution of exine characters. The first consists of two changes of microreticulate through parallel evolution from the primitive reticulate exine, and the second is that the microreticulate pattern is differentiated from the reticulate state and then reversed to reticulate pollen grains.

Splitting blades: why genera need to be more carefully defined; the case for Pyropia (Bangiales, Rhodophyta)

  • The trend in naming genera based almost exclusively on molecular data, and not on morphological diagnostic characters, is increasing. In bifurcating phylogenetic trees generic cut-offs are arbitrary, but at the bare minimum nomenclatural changes should be supported by multiple phylogenetic methodologies using appropriate models for all the various gene partitions, strong support with all branch support methods, and should also result in adding to our knowledge of the interrelationships of taxa. We believe that a recent taxonomic treatment of the genus Pyropia (Yang et al. 2020) into several genera is unwarranted. We reanalysed the data presented in the recent article, using additional phylogenetic methods. Our results show that many of the newly established genera are not well supported by all methods, and the new circumscription of the genus Pyropia renders it unsupported. We also tested additional outgroups, which were previously suggested as sister to Pyropia, but this did not substantially change our conclusions. These generic nomenclatural changes of the previously strongly supported genus Pyropia, do not shed light on the evolution of this group and have serious consequences in these commercially important algae, that are also governed by a plethora of regulation and by-laws that now need to be amended. We suggest that the over-splitting of groups based only on poorly produced and modestly supported phylogenies should not be accepted and that the genus Pyropia sensu Sutherland et al. (2011) be restored.
