We shall propose maximum likelihood, Bayesian and generalized maximum likelihood estimation for the reliability of the two-unit hot standby system with exponential lifetime distribution that switch is perfect. Each estimation will be compared numerically in terms of various mission times, parameter values and asymptotic relative efficiency through Monte Carlo simulation.

We investigate the multiplicity of the solutions for a class of the system of the biharmonic equations with some singular potential nonlinearity. We obtain a theorem which shows the existence of the nontrivial weak solution for a class of the system of the biharmonic equations with singular potential nonlinearity and Dirichlet boundary condition. We obtain this result by using variational method and the generalized mountain pass theorem.

A neural net based generalized predictive control(NNGPC) is presented for a hydraulic servo position control system. The proposed scheme employs generalized predictive control, where the future output being generated from the output of artificial neural networks. The proposed NNGPC does not require an accurate mathematical model for the nonlinear hydraulic system and takes less calculation time than GPC algorithm if the teaming of neural network is done. Simulation studies have been conducted on the position control of a hydraulic motor to validate and illustrate the proposed method.

A model based on two coupled generalized Langevin equations is proposed to investigate the trans-stilbene photoisomerization dynamics. In this model, a system which has two independent coordinates is considered and these two system coordinates are coupled to the same harmonic bath. The direct coupling between the system coordinates is assumed negligible and these two coordinates influence each other through the frictional coupling mediated by solvent molecules. From the Hamiltonian which is equivalent to the coupled generalized Langevin equations, we obtain the transition state theory rate constants of the stilbene photoisomerization. The rates obtained from this model are compared to experimental results in n-alkane solvents.

Consider the problem of estimating the system reliability using noninformative priors when both stress and strength follow generalized gamma distributions. We first treat the orthogonal reparametrization and then, using this reparametrization, derive Jeffreys'prior, reference prior, and matching priors. We next provide the suffcient condition for propriety of posterior distributions under those noninformative priors. Finally, we provide and compare estimated values of the system reliability based on the simulated values of the parameter of interest in some special cases.
