This study investigated the relationship between heat-related illnesses obtained from healthcare big data and daily maximum temperature observed in seven metropolitan cities in summer during 2013~2015. We found a statistically significant positive correlation (r = 0.4~0.6) between daily maximum temperature and number of the heat-related patients from Pearson's correlation analyses. A time lag effect was not observed. Relative Risk (RR) analysis using the Generalized Additive Model (GAM) showed that the RR of heat-related illness increased with increasing threshold temperature (maximum RR = 1.21). A comparison of the RRs of the seven cities, showed that the values were significantly different by geographical location of the city and had different variations for different threshold temperatures. The RRs for elderly people were clearly higher than those for the all-age group. Especially, a maximum value of 1.83 was calculated at the threshold temperature of $35^{\circ}C$ in Seoul. In addition, relatively higher RRs were found for inland cities (Seoul, Gwangju, Daegu, and Daejeon), which had a high frequency of heat waves. These results demonstrate the significant risk of heat-related illness associated with increasing daily maximum temperature and the difference in adaptation ability to heat wave for each city, which could help improve the heat wave advisory and warning system.

Objectives: Many studies have explored the relationship between short-term weather and its health effects (including pneumonia) based on mortality, although both morbidity and mortality pose a substantial burden. In this study, the authors aimed to describe the influence of meteorological factors on the number of emergency room (ER) visits due to pneumonia in Seoul, Korea. Methods: Daily records of ER visits for pneumonia over a 6-year period (2009-2014) were collected from the National Emergency Department Information System. Corresponding meteorological data were obtained from the National Climate Data Service System. A generalized additive model was used to analyze the effects. The percent change in the relative risk of certain meteorological variables, including pneumonia temperature (defined as the change in average temperature from one day to the next), were estimated for specific age groups. Results: A total of 217 776 ER visits for pneumonia were identified. The additional risk associated with a $1^{\circ}C$ increase in pneumonia temperature above the threshold of $6^{\circ}C$ was 1.89 (95% confidence interval [CI], 1.37 to 2.61). Average temperature and diurnal temperature range, representing within-day temperature variance, showed protective effects of 0.07 (95% CI, 0.92 to 0.93) and 0.04 (95% CI, 0.94 to 0.98), respectively. However, in the elderly (65+ years), the effect of pneumonia temperature was inconclusive, and the directionality of the effects of average temperature and diurnal temperature range differed. Conclusions: The term 'pneumonia temperature' is valid. Pneumonia temperature was associated with an increased risk of ER visits for pneumonia, while warm average temperatures and large diurnal temperature ranges showed protective effects.
This study describes a new graphical method for assessing and characterizing effect modification by a matching covariate in matched case-control studies. This method to understand effect modification is based on a semiparametric model using a varying coefficient model. The method allows for nonparametric relationships between effect modification and other covariates, or can be useful in suggesting parametric models. This method can be applied to examining effect modification by any ordered categorical or continuous covariates for which cases have been matched with controls. The method applies to effect modification when causality might be reasonably assumed. An example from veterinary medicine is used to demonstrate our approach. The simulation results show that this method, when based on linear, quadratic and nonparametric effect modification, can be more powerful than both a parametric multiplicative model fit and a fully nonparametric generalized additive model fit.
급내/급간상관이 동시에 존재하는 이변량 이항자료에 대한 모형으로 Danaher과 Hardie (2005)는 베타이항분포를 제안한바 있다. 그러나 이 모형은 베타분포에 따르는 성공확률을 통해 급내 상관을 묘사하므로 그 적용범위가 양의 급내상관을 가지는 자료에 제한된다. 이 연구에서는 보다 더 넓은 범위의 급내 상관에 대해 유용성을 가지는 일반화가법/승법이항모형과 확장베타이항모형 등에 Sarmanov형식의 이변량 확장을 고려하고 이들을 기존 모형과 적합도의 측면에서 비교한다. 실제자료인 주식자료와 소비자패널자료에 이변량 일반화이항모형들을 적용한 결과, B-mB와 B-ebB의 성능이 우수한 것으로 나타나며, 그 중 상대적으로 넓은 허용범위의 급내상관을 가지는 B-mB가 선호된다고 할 수 있다.
이 논문에서는 일반화된 관측 모델의 특수한 때에 순위 통계량을 써서 알려진 신호를 비모수 검파하는 한 가지 방법을 생각하였다. 좀더 구체적으로는 신호의존성 잡음 모델에서 알려진 신호 국소 최적 순위 검파기를 얻고 이를 순가산성 잡음 모델에서 얻은 국소 최적 순위 검파기와 견주어 보았다. 또한 국소 최적 순위 검파기의 검정 통계량을 이루는 점수 함수의 몇가지 보기를 보였다.
최근에 제안된 적산성 잡음을 포함하는 일반화된 관측 모델에서의 약한 확률적 신호검파를 다루었다. 적산성 잡음이 있을 경우, 확률적 신호를 검파하기 위한 국소최적 검파기의 검정통계량은 순수 가산성 잡음만 있을 경우의 국소최적검파기의 검정통계량이 확장된 것임을 보였다. 이는 이미 발표된 약한 알려진 신호 검파의 경우와 비슷한 결과이다. 널리 쓰이는 두 확률밀도 함수에 대해, 검정통계량을 구성하는 국소최적 비선형성들의 형태를 예시해 보였다.
Objectives: Abrupt changes in air pollution levels associated with the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) outbreak present a unique opportunity to evaluate the effects of air pollution on influenza risk, at a time when emission sources were less active and personal hygiene practices were more rigorous. Methods: This time-series study examined the relationship between influenza cases (n=22 874) and air pollutant concentrations from 2018 to 2021, comparing the timeframes before and during the COVID-19 pandemic in and around Thailand's Khon Kaen province. Poisson generalized additive modeling was employed to estimate the relative risk of hospitalization for influenza associated with air pollutant levels. Results: Before the COVID-19 outbreak, both the average daily number of influenza hospitalizations and particulate matter with an aerodynamic diameter of 2.5 ㎛ or less (PM2.5) concentration exceeded those later observed during the pandemic (p<0.001). In single-pollutant models, a 10 ㎍/m3 increase in PM2.5 before COVID-19 was significantly associated with increased influenza risk upon exposure to cumulative-day lags, specifically lags 0-5 and 0-6 (p<0.01). After adjustment for co-pollutants, PM2.5 demonstrated the strongest effects at lags 0 and 4, with elevated risk found across all cumulative-day lags (0-1, 0-2, 0-3, 0-4, 0-5, and 0-6) and significantly greater risk in the winter and summer at lag 0-5 (p<0.01). However, the PM2.5 level was not significantly associated with influenza risk during the COVID-19 outbreak. Conclusions: Lockdown measures implemented during the COVID-19 pandemic could mitigate the risk of PM2.5-induced influenza. Effective regulatory actions in the context of COVID-19 may decrease PM2.5 emissions and improve hygiene practices, thereby reducing influenza hospitalizations.
순가산성(純加算性) 잡음(雜音)과 적산성(積算性) 잡음(雜音)을 함께 나타낼 수 있는 일반화(一般化)된 잡음(雜音) 모성(模聖)에서, 알려진 신호성분(信號成分)과 확률신호성분(確率信號成分)을 모두 가지고 있는 복합(複合) 신호(信號)를 검파(檢波)하는 방법(方法)을 살펴보았다. 이 국소최적(局所最適) 검파기(檢波器)의 유한(有限) 표본(標本) 성능(性能)을 얻어 이를 다른 검파기(檢波器)의 유한(有限) 표본(標本) 성능(性能)과 견주어 보았다.
선형 로지스틱 모형은 신용위험 관리를 위한 신용평점 모형 구축에 있어서 널리 쓰이고 있는 방법론이다. 본 논문에서는 신용평점화를 위하여 로지스틱 회귀 방법에 기초한 스플라인 방법론을 다루고자 한다. 선형 스플라인과 자동적인 변수선택 방법을 채택하였다. 모의 실험을 통하여 스플라인 방법의 성능을 규명하였다.
버스정보 시스템을 이용하는 시민들은 더 정확한 예측 정보를 원한다. 하지만 평균 기반 단기간 예측 알고리즘을 사용하는 대부분의 버스정보시스템에서는 교통흐름, 신호주기, 정차시간 등의 영향이 고려되지 않기 때문에 많은 오차를 포함하고 있는 실정이다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 오차의 영향요인 분석을 통해 예측정보의 정밀도를 향상시켜 시민들의 편의를 도모하고자 한다. 이에 현재 운영되고 있는 버스정보 시스템의 자료를 토대로 오차의 영향요인을 분석했다. 분석 데이터에서 시간대별 특성과 지리적 여건에 의한 영향이 복합적으로 나타나고, 정차시간과 단위구간속도에 미치는 영향도가 다름을 보였다. 이에 따라 정차시간은 일반화 가법 모형을 사용하여 시간, GPS 좌표, 통과 노선수의 설명변수로 패턴을 구축하고, 단위구간에 대해 은닉 마르코프 모델을 사용하여 교통흐름에 따른 영향도를 고려한 패턴을 구축했다. 패턴 구축의 결과로 정밀한 실시간예측이 가능하고, 노선 통행속도의 장기간 예측이 가능했다. 마지막으로 관측 데이터와 예측 데이터의 통계적 검정 과정을 통해 전구간 예측에 적합한 모델임을 보였다. 본 논문의 결과로 시민들에게 더 정확한 예측 정보를 제공하고, 장기간 예측은 배차시간 등의 의사결정에 중요한 역할을 수행할 수 있으리라 생각한다.
