In this article, the values of internal force and deformation of a curved beam under any action with the firm or elastic supports are determined by using structural matrices. The article presents the general differential formulation of a curved beam in global coordinates, which is solved in an orderly manner using simple integrals, thus obtaining the transfer matrix expression. The matrix expression of rigidity is obtained through reordering operations on the transfer notation. The support conditions, firm or elastic, provide twelve equations. The objective of this article is the construction of the algebraic system of order twenty-four, twelve transfer equations and twelve support equations, which relates the values of internal force and deformation associated with the two ends of the directrix of the curved beam. This final algebraic system, expressed in matrix form, is divided into two subsystems: twelve algebraic equations of internal force and twelve algebraic equations of deformation. The internal force and deformation values for any point in the curved beam directrix are determined from these values in the initial position. The five examples presented show how to apply the matrix procedures developed in this article, whether they are curved beams with the firm or elastic support.
This study focused on experimental evaluation of mechanical properties of pervious concrete mixtures with the aim of achieving higher values of strength while considering the associated costs. The effectiveness of key parameters, including cement content, water to cement ratio (W/C), aggregate to cement ratio (A/C), and sand replacement was statistically analyzed using paired-samples t-test, Taguchi method and one-way ANOVA. Taguchi analysis determined that in general, the role of W/C was more significant in increasing strength, both compressive and flexural, than cement content and A/C. It was found that increase in replacing percent of coarse aggregate with sand could undermine specimens to percolate water, though one-way ANOVA analysis determined statistically significant increases in values of strength of mixtures. Cost analysis revealed that higher strengths did not necessarily correspond to higher costs; in addition, increasing the cement content was not an appropriate scenario to optimize both strength and cost. In order to obtain the optimal values, response surface method (RSM) was carried out. RSM optimization helped to find out that W/C of 0.40, A/C of 4.0, cement content of about 330 kg/m3 and replacing about 12% of coarse aggregate with sand could result in the best values for strength and cost while maintaining adequate permeability.
This study was conducted to estimate the genetic parameters such as combining ability, heritabilities and correlation coefficients forsome agronomic characters by 6$\times$6 dialled crosses of barley. The results obtained were summarized as follows. Mean squares of general combining ability(GCA) and specific combining ability(SCA) were significant for all characters observed. Mean squares of general combining ability for all characters were expressed as higher values than those of specific combining ability. Jecheon #5 showed the high general combining ability effects for culm length, and Waegwanpimack #1 showed the highest general combining ability effects for tiller number. Cygne also showed the high general combining ability effects for spike length and 1,000 grains weight. Furthermore, Plumage was expressed with the highest general combining ability effects for spike length and 1,000 grains weight. Furthermore, Plumage was expressed with the highest general combining ability effects for number of grains per spike. In specific combining ability effects, Samdugjeonbug # 45$\times$Plumage showed the high value for culm length, and Suwon #6 $\times$Waegwanpimack #1$\times$ was expressed with the highest specific combining ability effects for tiller number. Jecheon #5$\times$Plumage also showed the high specific combining ability effects for spike length and number of grains per spike. Suwon #6$\times$Cygne showed the high specific combining ability effects for 1,000 grains weight. The heritabilities of spike length an number of grains per spike were over 90%. In correlation coefficients among characters, relationships between culm length and tiller number, culm length and spike length, culm length and 1,000 grains weight, and spike length and 1,000 grains weight showed highly positively correlation.
Zingiber officinale Roscoe has been widely used as a folk medicine to treat various diseases, including cancer. This study aims to re-examine the therapeutic potential of co-administration of natural products and cancer chemotherapeutics. Candidate material for this project, ${\alpha}$-zingiberene, was extracted from Zingiber officinale Roscoe, and ${\alpha}$-zingiberene makes up $35.02{\pm}0.30%$ of its total essential oil. ${\alpha}$-Zingiberene showed low $IC_{50}$ values, $60.6{\pm}3.6$, $46.2{\pm}0.6$, $172.0{\pm}6.6$, $80.3{\pm}6.6$ (${\mu}g/mL$) in HeLa, SiHa, MCF-7 and HL-60 cells each. These values are a little bit higher than $IC_{50}$ values of general essential oil in those cells. The treatment of ${\alpha}$-zingiberene produced nucleosomal DNA fragmentation in SiHa cells, and the percentage of sub-diploid cells increased in a concentration-dependent manner in SiHa cells, hallmark features of apoptosis. Mitochondrial cytochrome c activation and an in vitro caspase-3 activity assay demonstrated that the activation of caspases accompanies the apoptotic effect of ${\alpha}$-zingiberene, which mediates cell death. These results suggest that the apoptotic effect of ${\alpha}$-zingiberene on SiHa cells may converge caspase-3 activation through the release of mitochondrial cytochrome c into cytoplasm. It is considered that anti-proliferative effect of ${\alpha}$-zingiberene is a result of apoptotic effects, and ${\alpha}$-zingiberene is worth furthermore study to develop it as cancer chemotherapeutics.

Solvolytic rate constants at 25℃ are reported for solvolyses of cinnamyl bromide (1) in binary mixtures of water with acetone, ethanol, methanol, methanol-d, and 2,2,2-trifluoroethanol. Product selectivities are reported for solvolyses of 1 in aqueous ethanol and methanol. Rate ratios in solvents of the same $Y_{Br}$ value and different nucleophilicity provide measures of the minimum extent of nucleophilic solvent assistance (e.g. $[k_{40EW}/k_{97TFE}]$Y = 2.88, EW = ethanol-water). With use of the extended Grunwald-Winstein equation, the l and m values are similar to the values of 0.43 and 0.88 obtained for the solvolyses of 1 using the equation (see below) which includes a parameter (I) for solvation of aromatic rings. The magnitude of l and m values associated with a change of solvent composition predicts the $S_{N1}$ reaction mechanism rather than an $S_{N2}$ channel. Product selectivities (S), defined by S = [ether product]/[alcohol product]×[water]/[alcohol solvent] are related to four rate constants for reactions involving one molecule of solvent as nucleophile and another molecule of solvent as general base catalyst. A linear relationship between 1/S and molar ratio of solvent is derived theoretically and validated experimentally for solvolyses of the above substrates from water up 75% 1/S = $(k_{wa}/k_{aw})$([alcohol solvent]/[water]) + $k_{ww}/k_{aw}$ alcohol-water. The results are best explained by product formation from a “free” carbocation intermediate rather than from a solvent-separated ion pair.

Atmospheric $O_3$ in the biosphere is formed under the favourable meteorological condition, when the primary pollutants, such as $NO_2, HC, CO, CH_4$, etc., react with over constituents. Observed annual average concentrations for 1989 and 1990 were 11.8 and 10.4 ppb, respectively. THe number of days measured ozone over 80 ppb in Seoul were 36 in 1989 and 39 in 1990. In general, monthly maximum values occurred in May and August. In comparison with 1 $\sim$ 2 maxima of $O_3$ distribution in large cities in other countries, it was found that there were 3 $\sim$ 4 maxima in Seoul and its suburbs. Topographic effects, resulted by wind channelling in the Han River valley and by the blocking of air pollutants in the mountain, appeared to produce multiple centres of $O_3$ maxima in Seoul. Surface $O_3$ values were low with decreasing solar radiation, when the cloudiness increased and precipitation occurred. According to 12 cases examined, 2 cases shown here, $O_3$ values exceeding 80 ppb were occurred when the Korean peninsular was under the influence of the backside airflows with high intensity of solar radiation. Occasionally, sea breezes were observed to occur in warm seasons, and the chanelling effect of the Han River valley appeared to increase the general wind (speed) to the east side of Seoul. In this meso-scale situation $O_3$ in downwind is highly correlated with precursors. The sea breeze of 2 $\sim$ 4 m $s^{-1}$ will take 3 $\sim$ 5 hours to transport photochemical precursors for 20 $\sim$ 50 km. In turn the areas of maximum $O_3$ occurrence in Seoul are in the range of meso-scale transport of air pollutants.
This study aimed to compare 2 protocols recommended to patients with chronic cervical cord injury: each protocol included breathing exercises (inhalation-oriented or exhalation-oriented) and facilitation maneuver for the accessory respiratory muscles. Seventeen patients with chronic cervical cord injury volunteered to participate in this study, and we randomized these patients into 2 groups: the inhalation-oriented breathing exercise group (IOBEG) and exhalation-oriented breathing exercise group (EOBEG), consisting of 8 and 9 patients, respectively. Patients in the IOBEG performed inspiratory exercises using intermittent positive pressure breathing devices, while those in the EOBEG performed expiratory exercises using incentive spirometry. All exercises were performed by the subjects twice a day for 4 weeks, with each session lasting an average of 20 min. The outcomes were assessed on the basis of the pre- and post-treatment values of vital capacity (VC), forced vital capacity (FVC), forced expiratory volume in 1 second (FEV1), and FEV1/FVC. In the IOBEG, no significant differences were observed between the pre- and post-treatment values of any of the measured variables (p>.05); however, in the EOBEG, significant improvement was noted in the VC, FVC, FEV1 measured (p<.05) after the treatment. In addition, the rates of change in the values of VC, FVC, and FEV1 differed significantly between the 2 groups (p<.05). These findings suggest that the EOBEs can enhance respiratory function and are clinically feasible in patients with chronic cervical cord injury. Further studies will be undertaken to evaluate the clinical application of these findings.
All the imputation techniques proposed so far in literature for data imputation are offline techniques as they require a number of iterations to learn the characteristics of data during training and they also consume a lot of computational time. Hence, these techniques are not suitable for applications that require the imputation to be performed on demand and near real-time. The paper proposes a computational intelligence based architecture for online data imputation and extended versions of an existing offline data imputation method as well. The proposed online imputation technique has 2 stages. In stage 1, Evolving Clustering Method (ECM) is used to replace the missing values with cluster centers, as part of the local learning strategy. Stage 2 refines the resultant approximate values using a General Regression Neural Network (GRNN) as part of the global approximation strategy. We also propose extended versions of an existing offline imputation technique. The offline imputation techniques employ K-Means or K-Medoids and Multi Layer Perceptron (MLP)or GRNN in Stage-1and Stage-2respectively. Several experiments were conducted on 8benchmark datasets and 4 bank related datasets to assess the effectiveness of the proposed online and offline imputation techniques. In terms of Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE), the results indicate that the difference between the proposed best offline imputation method viz., K-Medoids+GRNN and the proposed online imputation method viz., ECM+GRNN is statistically insignificant at a 1% level of significance. Consequently, the proposed online technique, being less expensive and faster, can be employed for imputation instead of the existing and proposed offline imputation techniques. This is the significant outcome of the study. Furthermore, GRNN in stage-2 uniformly reduced MAPE values in both offline and online imputation methods on all datasets.
We examine the effect of U term (U = 3 eV) describing the Coulomb interactions between electrons on the results of electronic band structure calculations carried out for bcc Fe bulk, monolayer, and chain. We investigated the properties of the three Fe structures by using the all-electron total-energy full-potential linearized augmented plane wave method. The U term was included in the exchange - correlation functionals constructed on the basis of local density approximation (LDA) and general gradient approximation (GGA). We found that in the case of bcc Fe bulk structure inclusion of the U term leads to the overestimated values of magnetic moment on Fe atom. The values of magnetic moment calculated for Fe in monolayer and chain are in accordance with calculations in which the U term was not included. In general, for each system the calculated values of magnetic moment on Fe sites were larger when the U term was incorporated in the energy functional. In Fe bulk, the value of magnetic moment $2.54{\mu}_B$ for LDA+U larger than $2.25{\mu}_B$ for LDA.
This study aimed to enhance the quality and sensory acceptability of dak-galbi sauce made from general tomatoes, plum tomatoes and canned tomatoes and find the most preferred quality characteristics and tomato type for the production of dak-galbi sauce. Dak-galbi sauce was blended with different concentrations of tomatoes (0%, 10%, 20%, 30%, 40%). As the amount of a tomato addition increased, the moisture contents, L-values, a-values and B-values significantly(p<0.001) increased while salinity, sugar contents and viscosity decreased. The attribute difference test showed that significant differences in such properties as color intensity, pungent flavor, pungent taste, mouthfeel were observed with more tomatoes added. Based on the results of this study, the optimal tomato content for maximizing the overall quality of dak-galbi sauce was 10~20% of general tomatoes or 20% of plum and canned tomatoes. More various kinds of dak-galbi sauce are expected to be developed through this study.
