Woolf s preoccupation with the interplay between gender, commercialism, and the modern city is exposed in higher relief by her feminist remapping of the city through a discourse of fl nerie, which is epitomized in her singular urban travelogues such as Street Haunting and The London Scene essays. A fanatical London-adventurer herself, she assumes the persona of the fl neuse in exploring the street of modern London and especially the public sphere of the marketplace, as represented in Oxford Street Tide. Living and working in the quarter of Bloomsbury, in close proximity to the capital s famous sites of tourism, entertainment, and mass consumption, Woolf was placed at the heart of urban spectacle. In spite of the lack of critical analysis of this high-profile writer s interest in such quotidian matters as shopping, fashion and appearance, which would be informed by a hierarchy of value within literary criticism, it seems that they are inextricably intertwined with her quest into more serious-minded topics that revolve around the twin pillars of her literary project: feminism and modernism. Her essays, in particular, suggest this point in one way or another, mirroring her extraordinary susceptibility to such concerns. For Woolf, street sauntering is synonymous with an act of creative mobility, by which she plays with the notion of shifting identities, rediscovers the urban rarities and splendors, and ultimately pins them down in her literary output. By adopting the identity of a masterly rambler/observer/explorer with an omnipotent gaze, she firmly anchors herself as an active interpreter of urban modernity and viewer of its spectacle. She thus challenges the idea of public space as a male domain, which is central to the classic androcentric discourse of loitering, spectatorship and urban modernity.
Background: Acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) is a complex disease caused by interactions between hazardous exogenous or/and endogenous agents and many mild effect inherited susceptibility mutations. Some of them are known, but their functional roles still requireinvestigation. Age is a recognized risk factor; children with disease onset after the age of ten have worse prognosis, presumably also triggered by inherited factors. Materials and Methods: The MDR1 gene polymorphisms rs1045642, rs2032582 and MTHFR gene polymorphisms rs1801131 and rs1801133 were genotyped in 68 ALL patients in remission and 102 age and gender matched controls; parental DNA samples were also available for 42 probands. Results: No case control association was found between analyzed polymorphisms and a risk of childhood ALL development. Linkage disequilibrium was not observed in a family-based association study either. Only marginal association was observed between genetic marker rs2032582A and later disease onset (p=0.04). Conclusions: Our data suggest that late age of ALL onset could be triggered by mild effect common alleles.

This study was conducted to explain adolescents' smoking behavior using Health Belief Model. A cross-sectional study design was used to analyze characteristics and factors that influence smoking behavior among Korean adolescents. A total of 1.535 adolescents attending 21 high schools in one district of Seoul participated in the study. The results indicated that perceived susceptibility, severity, benefits, and barriers were significant in predicting smoking behavior of adolescents. Likewise, the degree of juvenile delinquency, gender, the amount of pocket money, and having smoking parent(s) and friend(s) significantly affect smoking behavior of adolescents. Based on the study results, it is recommended to incorporate HBM components in smoking cessation programs, and to include parents and friends in smoking prevention and cessation programs for high school students in Korea.

Purpose: This research was conducted to examine the relationship of knowledge, health beliefs, and self-efficacy on osteoporosis. Method: The design of this study was a correlative design. The subjects were 1,615 Korean adults over the age of 20 registered in a new town and participants were asked to fill in a questionnaire developed by Kim, Horan & Gendler (1991), translated into Korean. Results: 1) The subjects recorded an average score of 1l.10 on osteoporosis knowledge. The average scores on the osteoporosis health beliefs was 15.68 for perceived susceptibility and the respondents recorded an average score of 40.40 for osteoporosis self-efficacy. 2) There were statistically significant differences in the degree of osteoporosis knowledge, self-efficacy and health belief according to gender, age, scholastic achievement, marital state, and jobs. 3) There were statistically significant positive correlations between osteoporosis knowledge and self-efficacy. Conclusion: According to these results, an osteoporosis education program improving not only knowledge but also self-efficacy and health beliefs should be developed and applied to decrease the perception of barriers to exercise and intake of calcium.
This study used the health belief model of college students to investigate the not with regards to their health status awareness, health management, and their health beliefs. Logistic regression analysis showed a significantly high odds ratio between intent of hepatitis B vaccination and gender, The trend for receiving a hepatitis B vaccination was highest in groups with awareness of the high susceptibility and seriousness of hepatitis B, groups with awareness of the low barrier, and women as opposed to men. Therefore future research is needed regarding appropriate promotions of the seriousness and benefits of hepatitis B vaccinations as well as the development of a integrated health education mediation program and effect evaluation.
Background: Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the fourth most common cause of cancer death in the world. Genetic variants in 8q24.21 including rs10505477 and rs6983267 have been hypothesized to be involved in susceptibility to CRC. This study aims to investigate the possible association between these loci and their haplotypes with CRC risk in Iranian population. Materials and Methods: Subjects were recruited from two hospitals in Tehran. The rs10505477 and rs6983267 polymorphisms were genotyped by TaqMan real time PCR using subject genomic DNA, extracted either from formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissue of patients or from blood of the controls by standard methods. Results: A total of 715 subjects (380 CRC patients and 335 matched controls) were genotyped in this study. Allele and genotype analysis of the rs10505477 and rs6983267 polymorphisms by gender, age at diagnosis, tumor location, tumor grade, and tumor node metastasis (TNM) showed no significant association with CRC risk. There was a significant relationship between GG haplotype and susceptibility to age at diagnosis for both <60 and ${\geq}60$ (p=0.0005 and p=0.000004, respectively) and between GT and CRC in the age at diagnosis ${\geq}60$ (Table 3: p=0.031). The GG haplotype was less frequent in CRC patients with the age at diagnosis <60, but was more common in subjects with the age at diagnosis ${\geq}60$. Conclusions: Results of this study suggests that the rs6983267 and rs10505477 polymorphisms alone may not be relevant to CRC risk, but their GG haplotype plays a notable role in age at diagnosis of CRC in the Iranian population.
Background: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the potential association of five (p.P47S, p.R72P, PIN3 Ins16bp, p.R213R and r.13494g>a) polymorphisms of TP53 with the risk of developing breast cancer in North Indian Punjabi population. Methods: We screened DNA samples of 200 sporadic breast cancer patients (197 females and 3 males) and 200 unrelated healthy, gender and age matched individuals for the polymorphisms. Results: For the p.P47S polymorphism, we observed the PP genotype in 99.5% of the patients and PS genotype in only 1 patient. All the controls had the wild type PP genotype. The frequency of RR, RP and PP genotype of p.R72P was 23.5% vs 33.5%, 51.5% vs 45.5% and 25% vs 21% in patients and controls respectively. Heterozygous (RP) genotype was increased in breast cancer patients as compared to controls (51.5 vs 45.5%) and showed 1.61 fold significantly increased risk for breast cancer (OR=1.61, 95% CI, 1.01-2.58, p=0.04). In breast cancer patients the frequencies of A1A1, A1A2 and A2A2 genotypes of PIN3 Ins16bp polymorphism were 67%, 26% and 7% respectively whereas in controls the genotype frequencies were 68.5%, 27.5% and 4% respectively, with no significant difference. For p.R213R (c.639A>G), all individuals had homozygous wild type genotype. The frequencies of GG, GA and AA genotypes of TP53 r.13494g>a polymorphism were 62 vs 67.5%, 33 vs 28% and 5 vs 4.5% in patients and controls respectively, again without significant difference. We observed that RP-A1A1 genotype combination of p.R72P and PIN3 Ins16bp and RP-GG combination of p.R72P and r.13494g>a polymorphism showed significant risk of breast cancer (OR=1.65, 95%CI: 0.98-2.78, p=0.05; OR=1.72, 95%CI: 1.01-2.92, p=0.04). Conclusion: The results of present study indicated that among the five TP53 polymorphisms investigated, the p.R72P polymorphism, and the RP-A1A1 and RP-GG genotype combination contribute to breast cancer susceptibility in North Indians.
We investigated the prevalence of fungi isolated from a university-affiliated hospital during 6 years (2006-2011) to provide relevent information for the patient management. The general characteristics of the clinical isolates and gender, age, and type of specimens were analyzed. Among a total of 163,530 requested samples to culture for the Laboratory of Clinical Microbiology, Department of Laboratory Medicine, Gyeongsang National University Hospital in the Republic of Korea, 5,387 (3.3%) showd positive results for fungi. The most prevalent isolates were Candida albicans 41.9%, Candida glabrata 15.5%, and Candida tropicalis 14.6%. Total isolates of fungi increased from 526 in 2006 to 1,145 in 2011. They were most commonly isolated from sixties (27.0%) and seventies (26.5%). The most common clinical specimen was urine (44.8%). Males (52.4%) were slightly more than females (47.6%). In the future, a nationwide survey and additional antifungal convergence drugs susceptibility results will provide more useful information.

This study investigated the factors influencing how obesity stress and health belief impact weight control behavior among nursing students. Data were collected from nursing students in U city between September 1 and October 10, 2016 and analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and hierarchical multiple regression. Among the general characteristics of the subjects, gender (t=2.30, p=0.044) and health status (F=8.03, p<0.001) significantly influenced weight control behavior. There were negative correlations between diet therapy of weight control behavior (r=-0.26, p<0.001), exercise therapy (r=-0.25, p<0.001), behavior modification therapy (r=-0.29, p<0.001), and perceived barriers in health belief. In addition, acquiring special knowledge for weight control behavior showed positive correlations in obesity stress (r=0.42, p<0.001), perceived susceptibility (r=0.25, p<0.001) and perceived benefits (r=0.19, p<0.001). Furthermore, the significant factors influencing weight control behavior were perceived barriers (${\beta}=-0.30$, p<0.001) and obesity stress (${\beta}=0.20$, p<0.05) in health belief, and these factors explained 17.2% of the variance. Based on the study results, it is necessary to develop and apply effective educational programs that can influence weight control behavior through gender, health status, obesity stress and health beliefs, which determine weight control behavior of nursing students.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine physical activities and health belief in order to provide basic data on obesity prevention and management among elementary school students based on the health belief model. Methods: Participants included 194 fifth grade students in an elementary school located in Seoul. Data were collected by questionnaires and physical measurement, including weight and height. The SPSS Win 17.0 program using descriptive statistics, ANOVA with Scheff$\acute{e}$ post hoc tests, and Cronbach's alpha coefficients was used in data analysis. Results: Significant differences were observed in physical activity according to perceived severity (F=3.444, p=.034), perceived benefit (F=7.674, p=.001), perceived barrier (F=21.014, p<.001), and self-efficacy (F=22.098, p<.001). A significant difference in physical activity (t=4.502, p<.001) and perceived severity (t=-2.278, p=.024) was observed according to gender. Significant differences in physical activity (t=7.633, p=.006), perceived barrier (t=10.826, p=.001), and self-efficacy (t=5.928, p=.016) were observed according to obesity status. Significant differences were observed in physical activity (F=7.503, p=.001), perceived susceptibility (F=37.904, p<.001), and perceived barrier (F=3.425, p=.035) depending on level of satisfaction with body image. Conclusions: In order to promote physical activity among children with low physical activity, development of program with an emphasis on the benefits of physical activity and physical activity self-efficacy, and to decrease the barriers to physical activity is needed.
