  • 게임 산업이 발달하고 유저가 증가하면서, MOBA 장르의 게임들이 큰 인기를 끌고 있다. 하지만 팀원의 협동을 필요로 하는 게임에서 성으로 인한 차별적 대우를 받는 유저들이 급증하고 있고, 사회적으로도 이슈가 되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 MOBA 게임에서 유저들이 받고 있는 성차별 피해 사례를 수집하여 차별의 이유를 분석하고, 이런 성차별 피해를 없애기 위해 어떤 시스템을 도입하면 좋을지에 대해 방향을 제시한다.

Prevalence and Factors Affecting Discrimination Towards People Living With HIV/AIDS in Indonesia

  • Objectives: This study aimed to identify the behaviors associated with discrimination towards people living with HIV/AIDS (PLHA) in Indonesia and to determine the factors affecting discrimination. Methods: Secondary data from the 2017 Indonesia Demographic and Health Survey were analyzed using a cross-sectional design. Discrimination was assessed based on the questions (1) "Should children infected with HIV/AIDS be allowed to attend school with non-infected children?" and (2) "Would you buy fresh vegetables from a farmer or shopkeeper known to be infected with HIV/AIDS?" Multivariable logistic regression was used to determine the factors affecting discrimination, with adjusted odds ratio (aOR) and 95% confidence interval (CIs) used to show the strength, direction, and significance of the associations among factors. Results: In total, 68.9% of 21 838 individuals showed discrimination towards PLHA. The odds of discrimination were lower among women (aOR, 0.63; 95% CI, 0.55 to 0.71), rural dwellers (aOR, 0.81; 95% CI, 0.75 to 0.89), those who understood how HIV is transmitted from mother to child (aOR, 0.81; 95% CI, 0.73 to 0.89), and those who felt ashamed of their own family's HIV status (aOR, 0.56; 95% CI, 0.52 to 0.61). The odds were higher among individuals who knew how to reduce the risk of getting HIV/AIDS (aOR, 1.27; 95% CI, 1.15 to 1.39), how HIV/AIDS is transmitted (aOR, 3.49; 95% CI, 3.09 to 3.95), and were willing to care for an infected relative (aOR, 2.78; 95% CI, 2.47 to 3.13). A model consisting of those variables explained 69% of the variance in discrimination. Conclusions: Gender, residence, knowledge, and attitudes related to HIV/AIDS were explanatory factors for discrimination against PLHA. Improvements in HIV/AIDS education programs are needed to prevent discrimination.

문화예술분야 전문인력에 대한 유리천장효과 분석: J산업과 R산업 중심으로 (Glass ceiling in arts and culture professionals: Between J and R industries)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 RIF 무조건 분위회귀에 Oaxaca-Blinder 분해기법을 적용한 분위회귀임금분해를 통해 문화예술분야에 유리천장 현상이 존재하는지를 규명하는 것이다. 문화예술전문인력들이 종사하는 산업의 특성을 고려하여 "문화콘텐츠" 분야(대분류 J산업) 전문인력과"순수예술" 분야(대분류 R산업) 전문인력으로 구분하였고, 분석을 위해 "고용형태별 임금근로조사" 자료에서 2009년부터 2016년까지의 풀링자료를 이용하였다. 주요결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, OLS 임금분해 결과 순수예술 전문인력의 임금격차의 크기는 문화콘텐츠전문인력에 비해 낮게 나타났으나 이를 구성하는 차별부분의 비중은 오히려 더 크게 나타났다. 둘째, 분위회귀 임금분해 결과에서는 문화예술영역의 전문인력에 대한 유리천장효과가 서로 상이한 것으로 나타났다. 문화콘텐츠 전문인력에서는 중위부분 이후로 임금소득의 상위분위로 이동함에 따라 꾸준히 차별부분이 증가하는 지속적인 유리천장효과가 관찰되었고, 순수예술 전문인력에서는 70분위까지 감소하던 차별부분이 80분위와 90분위에서 급격히 상승하여 제한적인 유리천장효과가 고위영역에 집중되는 것이 관찰되었다.

The Income Inequality of Wage Earners during 1993-98 in Korea

  • 이 논문은 1993년에서 1998년까지 임금 노동자들의 소득을 분석하였다. 한국의 경제와 그에 따른 노동자들의 소득은 1997년 말에 시작된 경제위기와 IMF 경제하에서 급격한 변화를 겪었다. 소득이 어떻게 변화하였는지 교육, 성, 연령을 중요한 변수로 여기는 인적 자본론을 바탕으로 분석하였다. 1993년에서 1998년까지 소득변화에 미치는 성 효과는 어떤 유형을 찾기 어렵지만 교육 효과는 점차 감소하고 있으며 연령 효과는 급격히 감소하고 있다. 소득변화에 미치는 세 변수의 누적 효과는 증가하다가 감소하고 다시 증가하다가 감소하는 파도와 같은 모양을 보이지만 전체적으로는 점차 감소하고 있다. 이 논문은 패널조사로 구성된 원자료를 사용하였기 때문에 조사가 어려운 저소득층이 점차 줄어드는 제한점이 있다.

Climate Change and Gender Inequality in Taiwan's Green Industry: Why is Female Competency Development Mattered?

  • Purpose - In spite of the growing importance of Taiwanese green industry, most of employees who work in this industry in Taiwan are dominated by males. Only a few females are working in this industry and their wage is lower. This research is applying role congruity theory which explains why females share only a small portion in Taiwan's green industry. This study addresses a research question, "How has the gender inequality and discrimination been reflected in the occupation structure of Taiwan's green industry? How has this gender occupation structure influenced females in the green industry?" Research design, data, and methodology - To find out the impact of gender role in the green industry, the dataset of the 2015 Taiwan Social Change Survey is used. Using STATA, t test has been implemented to address our research question with three hypotheses. Result -All of hypothesis were all supported. It is found there is a statistical difference in stereotypical thinking between female who work in the green industry and the non-green industry of Taiwan. The limited female representation in the green industry of Taiwan influences job matching and job satisfaction significantly. Conclusion - This study suggests the Taiwanese government should encourage STEM education for females and provide more relevant vocational education and training particularly for females' competency development in the green industry. By providing vocational education and training to meet the skill needs of greener economy resilient to climate change, Taiwan's green industry will grow further and will overcome gender inequality and discrimination.

Correlation between Dental Hygiene Student's Gender Sensitivity and Gender Role Stereotypes

  • Background: The purpose of this study is to identify the gender sensitivity and gender role stereotypes of students in dental hygiene and to provide basic data to expand social awareness of equal gender sensitivity and gender role in dental hygiene and students by identifying the degree of correlation. Methods: The purpose of this study was to study dental hygiene students at colleges in Gyeonggi and Chungcheong areas. The survey was conducted from April 1 to April 30, 2021. The final sample was analyzed on 157 subjects. T-test and ANOVA analysis were performed to compare gender sensitivity and gender role stereotypes according to general characteristics. Equal variances were tested using the Levene statistic, and significant differences between groups were identified through Scheffe's post hoc analysis. Pearson's correlation analysis was performed to confirm the correlation between gender sensitivity and gender role stereotypes. Results: Gender sensitivity was 2.69 and gender role stereotypes were 1.83. Among the sub-areas of gender sensitivity, gender role openness was the highest at 2.86, and non-violence was the lowest at 2.50. As for gender role stereotypes, social stereotypes were the highest among sub-areas at 1.71. Among the general characteristics, there was a statistically significant difference in gender sensitivity according to the presence or absence of opposite sex friends (p=0.011). The gender identity openness of gender sensitivity and the physical sub-areas of gender role stereotypes showed the highest positive correlation(r=0.955). Among the sub-areas of gender sensitivity, gender role openness and domestic stereotypes showed the lowest negative correlation (r=-0.404) among the sub-areas of gender role stereotypes. Conclusion: Dental hygiene students should be able to critically analyze and solve problems of not only sexual violence but also gender discrimination and imbalance in social life. For this, environmental factors such as school education and professor guidance must be strengthened.

거대언어모델의 차별문제 비교 연구 (A Comparative Study on Discrimination Issues in Large Language Models)

  • 최근 ChatGPT 등 거대언어모델(Large Language Models)의 활용은 대화형상거래, 모바일금융 서비스 등 다양한 분야에서 사용이 증가하고 있다. 그러나 주로 기존 문서를 학습하여 만들어진 거대언어모델은 문서에 내재된 인간의 다양한 편향까지도 학습할 수 있다. 그럼에도 불구하고 거대언어모델에 편향과 차별의 양상에 대한 비교연구는 거의 이루어지지 않았다. 이에 본 연구의 목적은 거대언어모델안에 9가지 차별(Age, Disability status, Gender identity, Nationality, Physical appearance, Race ethnicity, Religion, Socio-economic status, Sexual orientation)의 존재유무 또는 그 정도를 점검하고 발전 방안을 제안하는 것이다. 이를 위해 차별 양상을 특정하기 위한 도구인 BBQ (Bias Benchmark for QA)를 활용하여 ChatGPT, GPT-3, Bing Chat 등 세가지 거대언어모델을 대상으로 비교하였다. 평가 결과 거대언어모델에 적지 않은 차별적 답변이 관찰되었으며, 그 양상은 거대언어모델에 따라 차이가 있었다. 특히 성차별, 인종차별, 경제적 불평등 등 전통적인 인공지능 윤리 이슈가 아닌 노인차별, 장애인차별에서 문제점이 노출되어, 인공지능 윤리의 새로운 관점을 찾을 수 있었다. 비교 결과를 기반으로 추후 거대언어모델의 보완 및 발전 방안에 대해 기술하였다.

노동에서의 성불평등: 전통 속의 성차별을 권력으로 재고찰하기 (Gender inequality in the workforce: reviewing gender differentiation in Korean tradition as a power)

  • Gender equality has been expected to realize fully in the process of globalization. According to neo-liberal, which views globalization as a rational development, irrational discrimination by culture will disappear. But some feminists criticize globalization as a patriarchal phenomenon. So in this paper, the extent to which women in Korea have achieved equality with men in the workforce is assessed through an examination of the gender gap during 1993-2003. As the result, it was found that women had still lower status than men in spite of laws established to promote gender equality. Then to explore the direction for eliminating the patriarchal gaps, women in traditional Korea were reviewed. Traditionally women were oppressed by the practice of Naeoe differentiating between women and men. But on the other hand it made women to have equal status with men by maintaining their own productive area. So it was suggested that differentiation should be considered as a source of power to be adopted into women's activitism such as NGOs or international women' movement to achieve full equality in inequitable globalization.

한국 노동시장에서의 성별 임금격차 변화 - 혼인상태 및 직종특성별 비교 - (Korean Wage Gap: Do the Marital Status of Workers and Female Dominance of an Occupation Matter?)

  • 본 연구는 1985~2004년 기간 중 한국 노동시장에서의 성별 임금격차의 변화를 분석하였다. Oaxaca and Ransom(1994)의 분해방법을 사용하여 성별 임금격차를 생산성 차이와 가격 차이(관찰되지 않은 생산성 차이 및 차별)로 분해하고, 임금격차에 대한 인적자본 특성별 기여도를 분석하였다. 실증분석 결과에 의하면, 지난 20년간 생산성 차이에 의한 임금격차는 크게 줄어들었으나 가격 차이에 의한 임금격차는 매우 미미한 감소세를 보였다. 가격 차이에 의한 임금격차는 미혼여성에 비해 기혼여성에게서 훨씬 크게 나타나서, 육아부담 등으로 인한 관찰되지 않은 생산성 차이가 성별 임금격차에 영향을 미친다는 가설을 지지한다. 가격 차이에 의한 임금격차는 또한 남성집중직종에 비해 여성집중직종에서 훨씬 작으며, 이는 여성 고용에서 네트워크 외부효과가 존재할 가능성을 뒷받침한다.

보호출산제 시행과 젠더 및 보건의료 이슈 (Gender and healthcare issues related to the Protected Birth Act in Korea)

  • This paper discusses the implications of the birth notification system and the Protected Birth Act in Korea. Aiming to prevent infanticide and abandonment of infants, the law will enter into force on July 19, 2024 in South Korea. The birth notification system mandates that both parents and the head of the medical institution where the birth occurred must report the event. In parallel, the Protected Birth Act will be implemented, allowing pregnant women in crisis who wish to remain anonymous, the option to give birth outside of a hospital setting in a way that safeguards the life and health of the child. However, many issues are being raised in Korean society in advance of the implementation of the Protected Birth Act. There is widespread concern that the Protected Birth Act fails to protect either women or children, especially as it raises issues regarding the need for legislation to protect children with disabilities and to address gaps for migrant women and children. This paper examines the gender and healthcare issues relating to the Protected Birth Act, focusing on women's health and human rights. The Act continues to perpetuate discrimination against out-of-wedlock pregnancies and upholds the ideology of the traditional family model. Furthermore, the legislative process did not address protective measures for the various reasons behind child abandonment. Critical issues such as women's autonomy, safe pregnancy termination, and paternal responsibility in childbirth are also notably absent. However, with the Act set to take effect soon, it is crucial for healthcare providers to comprehend the rationale and procedures associated with birth notification and the Protected Birth Act, and to prepare for its nationwide implementation. The law defines the socially vulnerable as its main beneficiaries, and it is necessary to strengthen social safety nets to improve their access to healthcare, eliminate prejudice and discrimination against out-of-wedlock pregnancies, and embrace the diversity of our society. We eagerly anticipate future discussions on gender and healthcare issues, as well as amendments to the law that reflect real-world circumstances to provide genuine protection for pregnant women in crisis and their infants.
