Fabrication of Bi-Sr-Ca-Cu-O superconducting wire by the sol-gel method (졸겔법에 의한 Bi-Sr-Ca-O계 초전도체 선재 제조)

  • Y-Ba-Cu-O계 보다 화학적 내구성이 좋은 Bi-Sr-Ca-Cu-O계 초전도체 wire를 중합 binder와 초전도체 파우더를 혼합하여 sol-gel법으로 제조하였다. 여러가지 혼합비와 열처리 조건하에서 제조한 wire의 특성분석 결과 Bi$_{2}$Sr$_{2}$Ca$_{2}$Cu$_{3}$O계 초전도체와 binder의 최적 혼합율은 22.25%이었고 가열비는 0.33.deg.C/min로 500.deg.C까지는 Ar gas와 $O_{2}$ gas분위기로 열처리하고 500.deg.C에서 835.deg.C까지는 $O_{2}$ gas분위기에서 40h동안 열처리하였을때 임계온도 98K를 갖는 초전도 선재를 얻을 수 있었다.

Effect of Dry Process on Dielectric Properties of PZT Thin Films Prepared by Sol-Gel Process

  • Properties of lead zirconate titanate ferroelectric thin films prepared by rapid thermal annealing/direct insertion thermal annealing were investigated. The remnant polarization (Pr), saturation polarization (Ps), and coercive force (Ec) of typical samples annealed by rapid thermal annealing (RTA) are about 13.7 $\mu$ C/cm$^2$, 27.1 $\mu$C/cm$^2$, and 55.6 kV/cm, respectively. The dielectric constant of the sample is about 786, the dielectric loss tangent is about 2.4% at 1 kHz. Furthermore, ferroelectric, conduction, and piezoelectric properties of the thin films annealed by RTA process and the direct insertion thermal annealing (DITA) process were compared. The influence of temperature in the dry process on the above properties was also investigated.

  • I. Objective This study evaluated the microshear bond strength of teeth bleached with commercial whitening strips and compared with those bleached with home bleaching gel. II. Materials and Methods Twelve exrtacted central incisors were cut into pieces and central four segments were chosen from each tooth and embedded in acrylic resin. Four blocks with 12 tooth segments embedded in acrylic resin were acquired and numbered from one to four. Block 1 was bleached with Crest Whitestrips, block 2 with Claren, block 3 with Opalescence tooth whitening gel(10% carbamide peroxide).(omitted)

  • Lauric acid (LA) which is also known as dodecanoic acid has been selected as the phase change material (PCM) owing to eco-friendly in nature. A systematic study has been conducted for encapsulation of LA (core) with silicon dioxide (SiO2) as shell material. Different core-shell ratio was chosen to microencapsulate the LA with 10 ml of tetraethyl orthosilicate (TEOS) as the precursor solution for the formation of SiO2. The synthesis of microencapsulated LA was carried out at 2.5 pH of precursor solution. The synthesized microencapsulated LA are characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscope (FT-IR) and X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) which confirmed the presence of SiO2 shell on the surface of LA.

  • We studied the possibility of $Zn_4O(Ac)_2(OH)$ formation as a precursor for ZnO nano particles in sol-gel method. Four different additives such as tetra methyl ammonium hydroxide, mono ethanol amine (MEA), LiOH, and $H_2O$ were used for zinc acetate dissolved in 2-methoxy ethanol. ZnO particles of 5-6 nm in size were observed. Existence of $Zn_4O(Ac)_6$ was not verified. $Zn_4O(Ac)_2(OH)$ molecules were observed and they were believed to be the precursors of ZnO. A peak at 275nm in UV-Vis analysis was observed In the case of MEA and $H_2O$ but no ZnO particles were detected in transmission electron microscopy.

  • [ $TiO_2$ ] single crystalline nanorods are prepared from electrospun fibers which are composed of nanofibrils with an island-in-a-sea morphology. The mechanical pressure produces each fibril into nanorods which are converted to anatase single crystals after calcinations. HRTEM shows that the (001) plane is growing along the longitudinal direction of the rod. In this work, the nanorod electrode provides the efficient photocurrent generation in a quasi-solid state dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) using highly viscous PVDF-HFP based gel electrolytes. The overall converision efficiency of the $TiO_2$ nanorods shows 6.2 % under $100\;mW/cm^2$ (AM 1.5G) illumination.

  • The cell spheroid (multicellular mass) is enhanced cell functions because of the cell-cell interaction compared with the individual cell. The objective of this study is synthesis, characterization and evaluation of novel crosslinkers to form spheroid in a short time. Our approach to bridge cells is based on the crosslinking of the cell membrane via the hydrophobic interaction. The crosslinker was prepared by the reaction between ethylenediamine and poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) derivative with oleyl group as hydrophobic group at the terminal group. The product was characterized with gel permeation chromatography (GPC) and FT-IR. Furthermore, cell culture experiment was also performed to confirm spheroid formation. The function of prepared spheroids was evaluated.

Ambient Pressure Dried Silica Aerogel Thin Film from Water Glass

  • A nano structured silica aerogel thin film was manufactured from inexpensive sodium silicate (water glass) using an ambient pressure drying method. High purity silicic sol was prepared by passing a water glass solution through an ion exchange resin, and the gel films were prepared on a modified glass substrate via dip coating. The dip coating conditions, such as coating time and solvent, were optimized. The optical and physical properties of the obtained silica aerogel thin film were characterized using a UV-visable spectrometer and a scanning electron microscope.

  • $(Pb_xLa_{1-x}) (Zr_yTi_{1-y})O_3$ (PLZT) thin films with electrooptic effect are promising for the optical application such as display or light shutter. However, it is difficult to use inexpensive and transparent glass substrates because the conventional process for preparation of PLZT requires temperatures above $600^{\circ}C$. In order to deposit a perovskite PLZT thin films at low processing temperatures through alkoxide route, we have offered several seeding processes which reduce the activation energy for crystallization. In this study, we optimized the stacking structure of multilayered PLZT for obtaining single phase perovskite at lower temperatures. As a result, ferroelectric PLZT thin films with different compositions were successfully prepared at a temperature as low at $500^{\circ}C$.

Preparation and Electrochemical Properties of Carbon Cryogel for Supercapacitor

  • Electrochemical properties of carbon cryogel electrode for the application of composite electrode materials mixed with metal oxide in supercapacitor have been studied. Carbon cryogels were synthesized by sol-gel polycondensation of resorcinol with form aldehyde, followed by a freeze drying, and then pyrolysis in an inert atmosphere. Physical properties of carbon cryogel were characterized by BET, X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). It is found that carbon cryogel is amorphous material. The electrochemical properties of carbon cryogel were measured by cyclic voltammetry as a function of concentration of liquid electrolyte, galvanostatic charge-discharge with different scan rates and electrochemical impedance measurements. The result of cyclic voltammetry indicated that the specific capacitance value of a carbon cryogel electrode was approximately 150.2 F/g (at 5 mV/s in 6M KOH electrolyte).
