A variety of methods for sound source localization have been developed and applied to several applications such as noise detection system, surveillance system, teleconference system, robot auditory system and so on. In the previous work, we proposed the sound source localization using the spatially mapped GCC functions based on TDOA for robot auditory system. Performance of the proposed one for the noise effect and estimation resolution was verified with the real environmental experiment under the single source assumption. However, since multi-talker case is general in human-robot interaction, multiple source localization approaches are necessary. In this paper, the proposed localization method under the single source assumption is modified to be suitable for multiple source localization. When there are two sources which are correlated, the spatially mapped GCC function for localization has three peaks at the real source locations and imaginary source location. However if two sources are uncorrelated, that has only two peaks at the real source positions. Using these characteristics, we modify the proposed localization method for the multiple source cases. Experiments with human speeches in the real environment are carried out to evaluate the performance of the proposed method for multiple source localization. In the experiments, mean value of estimation error is about $1.4^{\circ}$ and percentage of multiple source localization is about 62% on average.

For the manufacture of linerboard with 100% KOCC, we tried to increase the solid content of wet web by employing GCC (grounded calcium carbonate) in the fiber furnish to save drying energy. Three different diameters of GCC, namely, 5, 10, and $35{\mu}m$, were used. To complement the strength loss by the addition of GCC, cationic starch and refining treatment were tried. It was found that the addition of $10-35{\mu}m$ dia. GCC to KOCC for $180g/m^2$ basis weight sheets increased the solid content of the furnish about 1-1.5% with better bulk and drainage properties. The loss of strength properties were compensated by the application of cationic starch and/or refining process to the KOCC furnish. The dia. of GCC of $35{\mu}m$ was, however, too large to make smooth surface of the sample sheet. So, the optimization process was required before implementing the results to the mill by selecting proper diameter and shape of the calcium carbonate.

The aim of this paper is to identify the key determinants in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries for Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) inflows by using a balanced data panel for the period from 1995 to 2018. This study covers GCC countries in their entirety. The study uses ten explanatory variables, namely, trade ratio, gross domestic product, external balance, fuel exports, gross savings, international tourism, military expenditure, net foreign assets, services value added, and total natural resources. The authors have tried to find the best fit model from the differences methods considered such as OLS, GLS regression with the help of Hausman test, and country by country regressions as additional analysis. The study revealed a significantly positive association between inflation, trade ratio, gross domestic product, gross savings, and net foreign assets with FDI. On the contrary, international tourism was revealed to have a negative association with FDI. The sample of all GCC countries chosen for this study has not been considered widely by any earlier study. Moreover, this study covered many determinants of FDI that add to the previous literature. It is a significant contribution to the current research body and stresses the originality of this paper.
This article focuses on changes in the ginseng industry in the 1930s in areas other than the Government Contract Cultivation (GCC) zones. A major characteristic of the ginseng industry in the 1930s was the rapid increase in the area covered by ginseng gardens: the area was about 212 ha in 1929 and 252 ha in 1930 and 1931 but soared to around 441 ha in 1938. This occurred because the non-GCC areas increased significantly during this period. Until the early 1930s, the ratio of GCC to non-GCC areas was 70:30. By the late 1930s, however, the ratio had changed to 53:47. The reason for this change was that the area of the newly established ginseng gardens in the GCC zones had decreased, while that of the non-GCC ginseng gardens had steadily increased. Due to the Japanese invasion of China, China boycotted red ginseng, and exports were sluggish, so the GCC areas were reduced. On the other hand, the non-GCC ginseng gardens were not affected, and the area they covered steadily increased. As a result, in the 1930s, the ginseng industry outside of the GCC areas grew rapidly. The region that led the growth of the ginseng industry outside of the GCC zone was Jeonbuk. By the late 1930s, Jeonbuk dominated the other provinces and accounted for more than 50% of the non-GCC farming zone. Gyeongbuk and Gangwon-do followed Jeonbuk in terms of ginseng cultivation areas. While Gyeonggi-do, Gyeongnam, and Chungbuk were also active in ginseng cultivation, Jeonnam and Chungnam were not active. In the 1930s, the growth of the ginseng industry outside of the GCC zones was driven by the efforts of ginseng farmers and the support of local governments. An examination of Yecheon-gun in Gyeongbuk, Ganghwa-gun in Gyeonggi, and Jecheon-gun in Chungcheongbuk-do showed that ginseng farmers organized cooperatives as the ginseng industry steadily developed in these regions, and these cooperatives worked systematically to cultivate and sell ginseng. In the case of Ganghwa-gun, activities were carried out to incorporate the GCC zone. The Deoksan Ginseng Association in Jecheon-gun determined that financing for cultivation was key and requested subsidies from the provincial government. Administrative authorities also supported the activities of the ginseng farmers. The activities of the farmers and the support of the administrative authorities together led to the growth of the ginseng industry during this period.

Increasing the amount of filler in paper is of high interest for paper industry while maintaining its key sheet quality properties. In this study, a MFC-GCC composite, made through a co-grinding NBSK (Northern bleached softwood kraft) pulp with a ground calcium carbonate (Intracarb 60), was used as a strength aid in paper in order to evaluate a potential cost reduction through filler increase without sacrificing paper quality. Hand-sheets were made of NBSK and/or eucalyptus pulp by using white water recirculation in a Tappi sheet former and was compared its properties without or with MFC additions at different filler levels. It was found that the MFC-GCC composite has a large surface area compared to the fiber, allowing the formation of more hydrogen bonds in the web, thus giving natural strength to the paper. Overall results are encouraging that the MFC-GCC composite allows papermaker to reduce basis weight and maintain critical sheet properties.

The objective of this study is to investigate the basic properties of polyester mortars using ground calcium carbonate(GCC), blast furance slag(BFS), fly ash(FA), ordinary portland cement(OPC) as fillers. Particle size distribution, particle shape and resin absorption of GCC, BFS, FA and OPC are checked. Polyester mortars with GCC, BFS, FA and OPC are prepared with various MEKPO content and tested for working life. The flexural and compressive strengths of the polyester mortars with MEKPO content of 0.5phr are evaluated. As a test result, the average sizes of GCC, BFS, FA and OPC are 9.7$\mu\textrm{m}$, 11.6$\mu\textrm{m}$, 21.2$\mu\textrm{m}$, 29.9$\mu\textrm{m}$. Resin absorption of FA is 1.5times larger than other fillers. The polyester mortar with FA at a MEKPO content of 0.5phr has the longest working life and the maximum flexural and compressive strengths.

In this study, we modified the surface of ground calcium carbonate (GCC) with polyelectrolytes with different molecular weight using Layer-by-Layer (LbL) multilayering technique and investigated its effect on the paper properties. Polydiallydimethylammonium chloride (poly-DADMAC) and poly sodium 4-styrene sulfonate (PSS) which have different molecular weights were used for LbL multilayering. Zeta potential and particle size of the LbL modified GCC were measured. After preparation of handsheets, their structural and mechanical properties were evaluated. The zeta potential and average particle size of the modified GCC were affected by the molecular weight of anionic polyelectrolyte (PSS). The zeta potential was higher and the particle size was smaller when GCC was treated by PSS with high molecular weight compared to the case with low molecular weight of PSS. The tensile and internal bond strength of the handsheets was increased with an increase in the number of layers on GCC particles, but the molecular weight of polyelectrolyte did not significantly affect the paper strength.
There are several methods for estimating the time delay between incoming signals to two sensors. Among them, the GCC-PHAT (Generalized Cross Correlation-Phase Transform) method, which estimates the relative delay from the signal whitening and the cross-correlation between the different signal inputs to the two sensors, is a traditionally well known method for achieving stable performance. In this paper, we have identified a part of GCC-PHAT that can improve the periodicity. Also, we apply the auto-correlation method that is widely used as a method to improve the periodicity. Comparing the proposed method with the GCC-PHAT method, we show that the proposed method improves the mean square error performance by 5 dB ~ 15 dB at the SNR above 0 dB for white Gaussian signal source and also show that the method improves the mean square error performance up to 15 dB at the SNR above 2 dB for the color signal source.

This paper was made to evaluate the effect of the blending ration of GCC and No. 1 clay on the printability by investigating the structure of pore such as the pore rate, the number of pores, pore size and distribution of coated paper. The coated structure is mainly depended on the results of correlation between pigment and binder. It means that the structure of the pore occurred is chiefly affected by the blending ratio of GCC and No. 1 clay. This physical properties of the pore have a close relation with ink set-off associated with the drying rate and the penetration in ink into base paper and with printing gloss. Therefore it was needed to find out how the pore structure and the printability will be changed by modifying the blending ratio of GCC and No. 1 clay to vary the pore structure of coated paper. Below are the results of measurement: As the blending ratio of clay going up, water retention, sedimentation volume. smoothness, and paper gloss were increased, but relatively brightness and opacity were decreased. Pore rate was the highest at the blending ratio of No. 1 clay to GCC, 70:30. In this case, average pore radius was also increased. Ink receptivity and K&N ink receptivity were improved with the increase of the blending ratio of GCC, where was, ink setting was vice versa. No difference was observed in the weight of ink, but ink repellance decrease with the decrease of blending ratio of GCC.
Long-term observation of the life cycle of plants allows the identification of critical signals of the effects of climate change on plants. Indeed, plant phenology is the simplest approach to detect climate change. Observation of seasonal changes in plants using digital repeat imaging helps in overcoming the limitations of both traditional methods and satellite remote sensing. In this study, we demonstrate the utility of camera-based repeat digital imaging in this context. We observed the biological events of plants and quantified their phenophases in the northern temperate type deciduous broadleaf forest of Jeombong Mountain. This study aimed to identify trends in seasonal characteristics of Quercus mongolica (deciduous broadleaf forest) and Pinus densiflora (evergreen coniferous forest). The vegetation index, green chromatic coordinate (GCC), was calculated from the RGB channel image data. The magnitude of the GCC amplitude was smaller in the evergreen coniferous forest than in the deciduous forest. The slope of the GCC (increased in spring and decreased in autumn) was moderate in the evergreen coniferous forest compared with that in the deciduous forest. In the pine forest, the beginning of growth occurred earlier than that in the red oak forest, whereas the end of growth was later. Verification of the accuracy of the phenophases showed high accuracy with root-mean-square error (RMSE) values of 0.008 (region of interest [ROI]1) and 0.006 (ROI3). These results reflect the tendency of the GCC trajectory in a northern temperate type deciduous broadleaf forest. Based on the results, we propose that repeat imaging using digital cameras will be useful for the observation of phenophases.
