  • Welding deformation during the assembly process is affected by not only local shrinkage due to rapid heating and cooling, but also root gap and misalignment between parts to be welded. Therefore, the prediction and control of welding deformation have become of critical importance. In this study, it was focused on the development of the 3-axis apparatus for real-time measurement of the welded deformation. To achieve the objective, a D-H algorithm has been carried out to check the behavioral and performance evaluation for the developed robot. The sequence experiments were taken the base materials of $400{\times}200{\times}4.5mm$ plate for butt welding. The real-time experimental measurements are in good agreement with the measured results.

  • This study concerns with an applicability of the management science approach to the score adjustment among the College Scholastic Aptitude Test(CSAT) optional subjects. A linear programming model is developed to minimize the sum of score distortions between optional subjects. Based on the analysis of the 377,089 CSAT(2010) applicants' performances in social science test section, this study proposes a new approach for the score equating or linking method of the educational measurement theory. This study makes up for the weak points in the previous linear programming model. First, the model utilize the standard score which we can get. Second, the model includes a goal programming concept which minimizes the gap between the adjusting goal and the result of the adjustment. Third, the objective function of the linear programing is the weighted sum of the score distortion and the number of applicants. Fourth, the model is applied to the score adjustment problem for the whole 11 optional subjects of the social science test section. The suggested linear programming model is a generalization of the multi-tests linking problem. So, the approach is consistent with the measurement theory for the two tests and can be applied to the optional three or more tests which do not have a common anchor test or a common anchor group. The college admission decision with CSAT score can be improved by using the suggested linear programming model.

  • The color of Congo red hinders the spectrometric measurements of a concentration of hydrogen peroxide and enzyme activity (Horseradish peroxidase; HRP) during enzymatic decoloring of Congo red. In this study, a method was developed to measure peroxidase activity and hydrogen peroxide concentration in the presence of Congo red. The oxidation product of HRP/hydrogen peroxide and ABTS(2,2'-azino-bis-(3-ethylbenzotriazoline-6-sulfonic acid)) formed a dark green color. The spectrum of this product showed absorption bands at 420 nm and 734 nm. When compared with the Congo red spectrum, the absorption at 734 nm of this product did not overlap with Congo red, thus making the hydrogen peroxide measurement possible even in the presence of Congo red. Kinetic study of decoloring of Congo red performed by this method showed that the decoloring reaction followed the Michaelis-Menten kinetics. Pulse feeding of hydrogen peroxide, upon depletion, significantly increased the decoloring of Congo red. This result shows that this newly developed technique can monitor, predict, and improve the enzymatic decoloring process.

  • The AgInS$_2$epilayers with chalcopyrite structure grown by using a hot-wall epitaxy (HWE) method have been confirmed to be a high quality crystal. From the optical absorption measurement, the temperature dependence of the energy band gap on the AgInS$_2$/GaAs was derived as the Varshni's relation of Eg(T)=2.1365 eV-(9.89${\times}$10$\^$-3/ eV)T$^2$/(2930+T). After the as-grown AgInS$_2$/GaAs was annealed in Ag-,S-, and In-atmosphere, the origin of point defects of the AgInS$_2$/GaAs has been investigated by using the photoluminescence (PL) at 10 K. The native defects of V$\_$Ag/, V$\_$s/, Ag$\_$int/, and S$\_$int/ obtained from PL measurement were classified to donors or acceptors type. And, we concluded that the heat-treatment in the S-atmosphere converted the AgInS$_2$/GaAs to optical p-type. Also, we confirmed that the In in the AgInS$_2$/GaAs did net from the native defects because the In in AgInS$_2$did exist as the form of stable bonds.

  • We have developed laser absorption spectroscopy system for the measurement of excited Xe atoms in micro-discharged AC-PDP plasma. In this study, we have measured the absorption signals for the $1S_5$ xenon metastable state in the PDP cell with the various gas mixtures of Ne-Xe(1%), Ne-Xe(4%) and Ne-Xe(10%) under fixed gas pressure of 350 Torr and the eletrode gap distance of 50um. It is found that the maximum excited xenon densities are $1.2^{\ast}10^{12}\;cm^{-3}$, $1.8^{\ast}10^{12}\;cm^{-3}$ and $2.7^{\ast}10^{12}cm^{-3}$ for gas mixtures of Ne-Xe(1%), Ne-Xe(4%) and Ne-Xe(10%) respectively, in this experiment.

  • A waveguide method is developed to study the materials with relatively large dielectric constants at microwave range. Basically, the method is similar to the previous waveguide methods represented by short-circuit line and transmission/reflection measurement methods. However, the complex permittivity is not determined by the shift in resonance frequencies, but by numerical analysis of measured scattering parameters. In order to enhance microwave penetration into the specimen with relatively large permittivity, a dielectric plate with lower permittivity is employed for impedance matching. The influences of air gap between the specimen and waveguide wall are evaluated, and the corresponding errors are estimated. The propagation of higher order modes is also considered. Experimental results for several reference ceramics are presented.

  • In this paper, applicability of SI-PD(switching impulse - partial discharge) testing method was put on an attempt as a newly proposed diagnostic method for the underground distribution power cable system in Korea. For this purpose, SI-PD testing equipment was designed, and tests were performed using artificial needle-type defects integrated into the 22.9 kV CN/CV cables in drder to prove its reliability. As a result, arc noises, generated from spark gap, were considerably decreased by use of a pneumatic switch immersed into oil, and artificial needle-type defects were well detected with impulse voltage level under $2U_0$. These results imply that it is likely possible to apply SI-PD measurement method as a the nondistructive test for the 22.9 kV CN/CV cable system in Korea.

  • Furfurylidene acetophenone derivatives were synthesis, it was measured that nucleophilic addition made use of UV at a wide pH 1.0${\sim}$13.0 range in 30% dioxane-$H_2O$ solution, 25$^{\circ}C$. On the basis of general base catalysis, substitutent effect, confirmation of nucleophilic addition products, it was measured the reaction rate of furfurylidene acetophenone derivatives for the pH change. It may be concluded that a part was unrelated to pH and another part was in proportion to concentration of hydroxide ion: Above pH 10.0. sulfide anion adds to the double bond (Michael type addition), a part having no concern with pH, addition reaction to double bond is initiated by addition of neutral thiourea molecule. From the result of measurement the reaction rate, nucleophilic addition of furfurylidene acetophenone derivatives confirmed to the irreversible first order. Through measurement the substituent effect. It found that reaction rate was accelerated by electron attracting group. On the basis of these findings, nucleophilic addition of thiourea for the furfurylidene acetophenone derivative was proposed a fitting mechanisms.

  • One of the education purpose of the section "Figures" in the eighth grade is to develop students' deductive reasoning ability, which is basic and essential for living in a democratic society. However, most or middle school students feel much more difficulty or even frustration in the study of formal arguments for geometric situations than any other mathematical fields. It is owing to the big gap between inductive reasoning in elementary school education and deductive reasoning, which is not intuitive, in middle school education. Also, it is very burden for students to describe geometric statements exactly by using various appropriate symbols. Moreover, Usage of the same symbols for angle and angle measurement or segments and segments measurement makes students more confused. Since geometric relations is mainly determined by the measurements of geometric objects, students should be able to interpret the geometric properties to the algebraic properties, and vice verse. In this paper, we first compare and contrast inductive and deductive reasoning approaches to justify geometric facts and relations in school curricula. Convincing arguments are based on experiment and experience, then are developed from inductive reasoning to deductive proofs. We introduce teaching methods to help students's understanding for deductive reasoning in the textbook by using stepwise visualization materials. It is desirable that an effective proof instruction should be able to provide teaching methods and visual materials suitable for students' intellectual level and their own intuition.
