A study was conducted to assess the influence of copper on the total sulphur amino acid requirements of broiler chickens reared under two growing periods. The TSAA levels used were 0.73, 0.83, 0.93% with copper levels of 0, 125, 250 and 375 mg/kg for the starter period and the TSAA levels of 0.72, 0.79 and 0.86% with copper levels of 0, 125, 250 and 375 mg/kg for the grower period. Total feed consumption, body weight gain and feed L gain ratio were used as the parameters for the assessment. The results showed that adding copper at 250 mg/kg to the diets improved feed : gain ratio of the starter broilers and resulted in small improvement of body weight gain and feed : gain ratio of the grower broilers. Growth was depressed in relation to the reduction of feed intake on the chicks fed diet containing 375 mg/kg copper. There was a significant interaction between dietary TSAA and copper levels for feed intake, hence, indicating that the supplementation of copper at the level of 375 mg/kg increased the TSAA requirement of the starter broilers, although no interference with the requirement of grower broilers.

This paper describes a design for a spiral antenna with a conical wall to obtain the high gain. The gain and the axial ratio of the spiral antenna were improved by a new design that included a conical wall and an optimized Archimedean slit on the ground plane in a conventional antenna with a circular cavity wall and a 4.5-turn slit. A gain improvement of 9.5 dBi higher and a good axial ratio of 1.9 dB lower were measured by the added conical wall and the newly designed slit from the current distribution control on the ground plane, respectively. The measured return loss, gain and axial ratio of the proposed antenna showed a good agreement with the simulated results. The proposed antenna will be applied to a non-linear junction detector system.
Sixteen steers were used to investigate the efficacy of the sustained-release implant of bovine somatotropin (bST) in improving growth and feed:gain ratio during 12 weeks. Administration of the 400 mg bST implant resulted in a 16.1% increase in growth rate, and this increase was significant (p<.05). The use of the sustained-release implant did not alter (p>.05) feed intake and feed:gain ratio. Thirty-four cows were used to investigate the efficacy of the sustained-release implant of bST in milk production during 4 weeks. Administration of the 200 mg bST implant resulted in an 8.7% increase in milk production, and this increase was significant (p<.05). Twenty-four barrows were used to investigate the efficacy of the sustained-release implant of porcine somatotropin (pST) in improving growth, feed:gain ratio and backfat thickness during 6 weeks. Administration of the 120 mg pST implant resulted in a 11.4% increase in feed:gain ratio and a 60% decrease in backfat thickness, and these results were significant (p<.05). But the use of the sustained-release implant did not alter (p>.05) growth rate and feed intake.
This paper suggests anon-isolated high-gain boost converter using voltage-stacking cell. The voltage gain can be increased by adjusting number of voltage-stacking cells and transformer turns-ratio. Test results with 1kW prototype converter show that the voltage gain is three or four times higher than conventional boost converter at unity transformer turns-ratio and about 90% of efficiency is recorded under full load condition.
Studies on the effects of protein levels on the total sulphur amino acid (TSAA) requirements of chickens were conducted on the starter broilers by feeding four levels of crude protein(16, 18, 20 and 23%) at three levels of TSAA (0.83, 0.93 and 1.03%) and on the grower broilers by feeding three levels of crude protein (16, 18 and 20%) at three levels of TSAA(0.72, 0.79 and 0.86%). The metabolisable energy of the diets was maintained constant at 3,200 kcal/kg and the experiments were carried out for two growing periods: starter (0-3 wk) and grower (3-6 wk). The results showed that there were significant differences in body weight gain, feed intake and feed:gain ratio under different protein levels of the starters. Crude protein, ME and TSAA intake were significantly affected by increasing the CP levels. The TSAA requirement of the starter broilers is recommended at 0.93% and it is not influenced by different protein levels used in the experiment. For the grower period, body weight gain and feed:gain ratio improved significantly at higher protein diets. Birds fed higher protein diet consumed greater quantities of protein. Responses to TSAA supplementation for body weight gain, feed intake and feed:gain ratio were not significant. The present results showed that the TSAA level of 0.79 to 0.86% was required for grower diets and that the protein levels of the diet did not influence the TSAA requirement.

In this study, we propose a methodology for predicting the movie audience based on movie information that can be easily acquired before opening and effectively distinguishing qualitative variables. In addition, we constructed a model to estimate the number of movie audiences at the time of data acquisition through the configured variables. Another purpose of this study is to provide a criterion for categorizing success of movies with qualitative characteristics. As an evaluation criterion, we used information gain ratio which is the node selection criterion of C4.5 algorithm. Through the procedure we have selected 416 movie data features. As a result of the multiple linear regression model, the performance of the regression model using the variables selection method based on the information gain ratio was excellent.
In this paper, we analyze the spectrum-sensing performance of a cooperative cognitive radio (CR) network consisting of a number of CR nodes and a fusion center (FC). We introduce the "log-average-SNR ratio" that relates the average SNR of the CR-node-FC link and that of the primary-user-CR-node link. Assuming that the FC utilizes the K-out-of-N rule as its decision rule, we derive exact expressions for the sensing gain and the coding gain - parameters used to characterize the CR network performance at the high SNR region. Based on these results, we determine ways to optimize the performance of the CR network.
In order to study performance enhancing effects of supplementary antibiotics (avoparcin, nosiheptide and enramycin), two feeding trials were conducted. In Experiment 1, 1, 040 male Arbor Acres were reared in floor pens for 6 wk. Chicks were assigned to one of the following four treatments: Basal diet(B), B+avoparcin 10 ppm, B+nosiheptide 2.5 ppm and B+enramycin 5 ppm. Each treatment had five replications of 52 chicks each. In Experiment 2, two antibiotics (avoparcin and enramycin) were compared in $2{\times}2$ (antibiotics$\times$sex) factorial design. One thousand broiler chicks were reared in floor pens for 6 wk. Each of the 4 treatments had five replications of 50 chicks each. The results of Experiment 1 showed that antibiotic treatments (enramycin, avoparcin and nosiheptide) significantly(P <0.05) improved weight gain. Feed/gain ratio of avoparcin treatment and enramycin treatment tended to he lower than the control but they were not statistically significant. Dressing percentages were high in avoparcin and enramycin treatments compared to the control and nosiheptide treatment. The number of E. coli and Cl. perfringens in ileum and cecal contents were decreased by antibiotic treatments. Moisture contents in excreta of the birds were not significantly affected by the treatments. Leg abnormality and mortality were not significaniy different among treatments. In Experiment 2, weight gain was significantly (P<0.01) different between sexes, but not between antibiotic treatments. Significant effects of antibiotics (P<0.01), sex (P<0.01) and interaction (P<0.05) were shown in feed in take. Feed/gain ratio of avoparcin treatment was significantly (P<0.01) lower than that of enramycin treatment. leg abnormality and mortality were not significantly different among treatments but those in male broiler tended to be higher than in female broilers. It was concluded that nonsystemic antibiotics supplemented to the broiler diets suppress undesirable microorganisms and improve broiler performace in general and avoparcin was most effective in improving feed/gain ratio.

This paper presents a gain and phase mismatch calibration technique for an image-reject RF receiver. The gain mismatch is calibrated by directly measuring the output signal amplitudes of two signal paths. The phase mismatch is calibrated by measuring the output amplitude of the final IF output at the image band. The calibration of the gain and phase mismatch is performed at power-up, and the normal operation of the RF receiver does not interfere with the mismatch calibration circuit. To verify the proposed technique, a 2.4-GHz Weaver image-reject receiver with the gain and phase mismatch calibration circuit is implemented in a 0.18-${\mu}m$ CMOS technology. The overall receiver achieves a voltage gain of 45 dB and a noise figure of 4.8 dB. The image rejection ratio(IRR) is improved from 31 dB to 59.76 dB even with 1 dB and $5^{\circ}$ mismatch in gain and phase, respectively.
This study presents a model-based gain scheduling strategy for PI-based EGR controllers. The air-to-fuel ratio is used as an indirect measurement of the EGR rate. In order to cope with the nonlinearity and parameter varying characteristics of the EGR system, we proposed a static gain model of the EGR system using a new scheduling parameter. With the 810 steady-state measurements, the static gain model achieved 0.94 of R-squared value. Based on the static gain of the EGR system, the PI gains were robustly designed using quantitative feedback theory. Consequently, the gains of the PI controller are scheduled according to the static gain parameter of the EGR path in runtime. The proposed model-based gain scheduling strategy was validated through various operating conditions of engine experiments such as setpoint step responses and disturbance rejections.
