  • A design method of rule-based fuzzy modeling is presented for the model identification of complex and nonlinear systems. Three kinds of method for fuzzy modeling presented in this paper include simplified inference (type 1), linear inference (type 2), and modified linear inference (type 3). The fuzzy c-means clustering and modified complex methods are used in order to identify the preise structure and parameter of fuzzy implication rules, respectively and the least square method is utilized for the identification of optimal consequence parameters. Time series data for gas funace and sewage treatment processes are used to evaluate the performances of the proposed rule-based fuzzy modeling.

  • To deal with non-linearities and time-varying characteristics of hydraulic systems, in this paper, the neuro-fuzzy controller has been introduced. This controller does not require and accurate mathematical model for the nonlinear factor. In order to solve general fuzzy inference problems, the input membership function and fuzzy reasoning rules are used for determining the controller parameters. These parameters are determined by using the learning algorithm. The control performance of the neuro-fuzzy controller is evaluated through a series of experiments for the various types of inputs while applying disturbances to the hydraulic system. The performance of this controller was compared with those of PID and PD controllers. From these results, We observe be said that the position tracking performance of neuro-fuzzy is better those of PID and PD controllers.

  • In this paper, we are proposed optimization method of fuzzy model in order to complex and nonlinear system. In the fuzzy modeling, a premise identification is very important to describe the charateristics of a given unknown system. Then, the proposed fuzzy model implements system structure and parameter identification, using the fuzzy inference method and genetic algorithms. Inference method for fuzzy model presented in our paper include the simplified inference and linear inference. Time series data for gas furance and sewage treatment process are used to evaluate the performance of the proposed model. Also, the performance index with weighted value is proposed to achieve a balance between the results of performance for the training and testing data.

  • The field of forecasting is considered as an application of time-series analysis even if the data is linear or nonlinear. To obtain the forecasted values from observed data exerts a big influence on the decision-making support system or the control of machine etc. The nonlinear data appear as the random enumerated data. However we sometimes find that the pattern of past appearance repeats itself when we try to observe these data locally. From this point of view, we propose a way of forecasting nonlinear data from the pattern of past appearance using fuzzy theory. The advantages of the method are that we can forecast the next data by small numbers of previous data, and react to some differences, considering the ambiguous mature of the given data.

  • 퍼지 시계열 예측은 전체 퍼지 구간에 따른 퍼지 소속 함수의 개수와 범위에 따라서 예측성능에 많은 영향을 미치고 있으며, 이러한 문제점을 개선하기 위한 방법으로 다수 객체들의 학습 및 군집 특성을 이용한 Particle Swarm Optimization기법을 도입하였다. 제안된 방법에서는 군집의 최적 객체를 전체 최적해와 각각의 퍼지 소속 함수들에 대한 최적해로 구분하여 탐색하는 기법을 제안한다. 실제 시계열 데이터를 이용한 실험을 통하여 기존의 연구 결과들과 비교함으로써 제안된 방법의 우수한 성능을 가짐을 검증하였다.

  • In this paper, fuzzy logic system equipped with the back-propagation training algorithm as identifiers for nonlinear dynamic systems is described. To improve its performance, Jacob's delta-bar -delta rule is adapted in adjusting stepsize ${\alpha}$, and only y and ${\alpha}$ updating algorithm is suggested. In identifying and predicting the chaotic time series, suggested method is better than Li-Xin Wang's method,[1]

  • The role of remote sensing in phenological studies is increasingly regarded as a key in understanding large area seasonal phenomena. This paper describes the application of Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) time series data for vegetation classification using seasonal variation patterns. The vegetation seasonal variation phase of Seoul and provinces in Korea was inferred using 8 day composite MODIS NDVI (Normalized Difference Vegetation Index) dataset of 2006. The seasonal vegetation classification approach is performed with reclassification of 4 categories as urban, crop land, broad-leaf and needle-leaf forest area. The BISE (Best Index Slope Extraction) filtering algorithm was applied for a smoothing processing of MODIS NDVI time series data and fuzzy classification method was used for vegetation classification. The overall accuracy of classification was 77.5% and the kappa coefficient was 0.61%, thus suggesting overall high classification accuracy.

  • In this paper, the optimization of fuzzy inference systems is proposed for fuzzy model of nonlinear systems. A fuzzy model needs to be identified and optimized by means of the definite and systematic methods, because a fuzzy model is primarily acquired by expert's experience. The proposed rule-based fuzzy model implements system structure and parameter identification using the HCM(Hard C-mean) clustering method, genetic algorithms and fuzzy inference method. Two types of inference methods of a fuzzy model are the simplified inference and linear inference. in this paper, nonlinear systems are expressed using the identification of structure such as input variables and the division of fuzzy input subspaces, and the identification of parameters of a fuzzy model. To identify premise parameters of fuzzy model, the genetic algorithms is used and the standard least square method with the gaussian elimination method is utilized for the identification of optimum consequence parameters of fuzzy model. Also, the performance index with weighting factor is proposed to achieve a balance between the performance results of fuzzy model produced for the training and testing data set, and it leads to enhance approximation and predictive performance of fuzzy system. Time series data for gas furnace and sewage treatment process are used to evaluate the performance of the proposed model.

Nonlinear damage detection using higher statistical moments of structural responses

  • An integrated method is proposed for structural nonlinear damage detection based on time series analysis and the higher statistical moments of structural responses in this study. It combines the time series analysis, the higher statistical moments of AR model residual errors and the fuzzy c-means (FCM) clustering techniques. A few comprehensive damage indexes are developed in the arithmetic and geometric mean of the higher statistical moments, and are classified by using the FCM clustering method to achieve nonlinear damage detection. A series of the measured response data, downloaded from the web site of the Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) USA, from a three-storey building structure considering the environmental variety as well as different nonlinear damage cases, are analyzed and used to assess the performance of the new nonlinear damage detection method. The effectiveness and robustness of the new proposed method are finally analyzed and concluded.
