  • Fuzzy reasoning has been applied to analysis of traffic problems on urban arterial road. As the analysis on factors of route choice has been already carried out, its result can be used for construction of the model. Route choice rate estimation by fuzzy reasoning was discussed from its structure and accuracy. The major objective of the study is to introduce some kinds of methods with fuzzy reasoning and to make their feature obvious. First, the production system model is introduced with consideration of reality to actual travel behavior. Second, overlapping areas of fuzzy language function are investigated. Finally, process of fuzzy reasoning was also considered. Five kinds of Fuzzy reasoning are compared to investigate in relation between shapes of membership function and estimation validity.

  • Fuzzy control algorithms are developed based on fuzzy models of systems. The control issues are posed as multiobjective optimization problems involving goals and constraints imposed on system's variables. Two basic design modes embrace on-and off-line control development. The first type of design deals with the time and state-dependent objectives and pertains to control determination based upon the current state of the system. The second design mode gives rise to explicit forms of fuzzy controller that is learned based on a given list of state-control associations. Both the fuzzy models as well as fuzzy controllers are realized as logic processors.

  • Representation and quantification of fuzziness are required for the uncertain system modelling and controller design. Conventional results show that entropy of fuzzy sets represent the fuzziness of fuzzy sets. In this literature, the relations of fuzzy enropy, distance measure and similarity measure are discussed, and distance measure is proposed. With the help of relations of fuzzy entropy, distance measure and similarity measure, fuzzy entropy is proposed by the distance measure. Finally, proposed entropy is applied to measure the fault signal of induction machine.

  • The computed-torque method (CTM) shows good trajectory tracking performance in controlling robot manipulator if there is no disturbance or modelling errors. But with the increase of a payload or the disturbance of a manipulator, the tracking errors become large. So there have been many researches to reduce the tracking error. In this paper, we propose a new control algorithm based on the CTM that decreases a tracking error by generating new reference trajectory to the controller. In this algorithm we used the concept of sliding mode theory and fuzzy system to reduce chattering in control input. For the numerical simulation, we used a 2-link robot manipulator. To simulate the disturbance due to a modelling uncertainty, we added errors to each elements of the inertia matrix and the nonlinear terms and assumed a payload to the end-effector. In this simulation, proposed method showed better trajectory tracking performance compared with the CTM.

  • Tele manipulator is distingushed from industrial robot by iterating same specified work. Manipulator operator is included in control loop for controlling the telemanipulator because he decide directly during the work and order controllabily reducing the modelling error of telemanipulator which depend on the PID controller. But position-force control method of bidirectional control impose unsafety of vibiration and Analytic Hierachy Method can stabilize for reducing nonlinear modelling error by expert operator because of transformation empirical control rule to linear model.

  • Experimental models which are able to determine the deviation between weld line and weaving center by measuring the weld current during welding were proposed for the gas metal arc welding process. The models were used for developing a weld seam tracking system which controls the weaving speed of a welding torch. However, it was revealed that the tracking result of the system is affected by the welding conditions. Thus an arc sensor system was developed by using fuzzy control approach for overcoming the difficulty of modelling the nonlinear process. The rule base and parameters of the fuzzy control system were determined on the basis of the results of experiments. This fuzzy control system has shown the successful tracking capability for the wide operating range of welding conditions.

  • Splitting tensile strength (STS) of high-performance concrete (HPC) is one of the important mechanical properties for structural design. This property is related to compressive strength (CS), water/binder (W/B) ratio and concrete age. This paper presents a clustering-based fuzzy model for the prediction of STS based on the CS and (W/B) at a fixed age (28 days). The data driven fuzzy model consists of three main steps: fuzzy clustering, inference system, and prediction. The system can be analyzed directly by the model from measured data. The performance evaluations showed that the fuzzy model is more accurate than the other prediction models concerned.

  • This paper addresses the use of a nonlinear modeling procedure which construct a wavelet-based fuzzy model using genetic algorithm. A fuzzy inference system has the functional equivalence with a wavelet transform. Therefore, a wavelet-based fuzzy model using GA inherits the advantage of wavelet transform. Hereby, its performance is promoted. By help of the ability of GA to search the optimum globally, parameters of wavelet transform is determined closely to the optimal point. The feasibility of the proposed fuzzy model is proved by modelling a highly nonlinear function and comparing it with previous research.

  • Pythagorean fuzzy sets (PFSs) are capable of modelling information with more uncertainties in decision-making problems. The essential feature of PFSs is that they are described by three parameters: membership function, non-membership function and hesitant margin, with the total of the squares of each parameter equal to one. The purpose of this article is to suggest some new similarity measures and weighted similarity measures for PFSs. Numerical computations have been carried out to validate our proposed measures. Applications of these measures have been applied to some real-life decision-making problems of pattern detection and medicinal investigations. Moreover, a descriptive illustration is employed to compare the results of the proposed measures with the existing analogous similarity measures to show their effectiveness.

  • The fuzzy pattern matching technique has been developed in the framework of fuzzy set and possibility theory in order to take into account the imprecision and the uncertainty pervading values which have to be compared to requirements (which may be fuzzy) in a pattern matching process. This paper restates the basic principles and extends them to situations where (sub)patterns are only required to be satisfied up to a given tolerance (which may be fuzzy), or where the different subparts of a compound pattern may have various levels of importance. Both cases correspond to a weakening of elementary patterns. which can be expressed by a fuzzy relations modelling an approximate equality or an uncertain strict equality respectively. We also study the more sophisticated case where some elementary patterns have not to be satisfied with the highest priority provided that weaker requirements remain satisfied. The fuzzy pattern matching technique applies in a variety of problems including the evaluation of soft queries with respect to a fuzzy database, the evaluation of the fuzzy condition parts of rules in approximate reasoning, or the evaluation of the belonging of an ill-known object to a flexible class in classification problems.
