A Study on Fault Diagnostic Model for Behaviour Appearance of Components (부품의 가동형태에 따른 고장진단 모델 연구)

  • This study deals with the application of knowledge-based engineering and a methodology for the assessment & measurement of reliability, availability, maintainability, and safety of industrial systems using fault-tree representation. A fuzzy methodology for fault-tree evaluation seems to be an alternative solution to overcome the drawbacks of the conventional approach. To improve the quality of results, the membership functions must be approximated based on heuristic considerations. Conventionally, it is not always easy to obtain a system reliability for components with different individual failure probability density functions(p.d.f.), We utilize fuzzy set theory to solve the adequacy of the conventional probability in accounting and processing of built-in uncertainties in the probabilistic data. The purpose of this study is to propose the framework of knowledge-based engineering through integrating the various sources of knowledge involved in a FTA.

A Comparison Study between Korean and Foreign Shipping Lines on Logistics Service Attributes and Capability (국적선사와 외국적선사의 물류서비스 속성과 역량에 관한 비교 연구)

  • In order to obtain and maintain competitive advantage, under rapidly changing maritime environment, liners should make efforts to reinforce their logistics service capabilities. Most of all, for this, shipping lines should accurately recognize and evaluate their logistics service attributes. In the present research, various logistics service attributes for ocean carriers were selected from previous studies and the observed data for 6 main service attributes were collected through a questionnaire survey to 31 maritime experts. Moreover, shipping lines' relative logistics service capabilities were measured by an additional survey process. The comparative gravity between core evaluation factors were measured by AHP technique and the relative capability levels of 2 Korean liners and 5 foreign shipping companies were assessed by utilizing a fuzzy model. The empirical result presents that Korean liners are superior at customer service capability but inferior at freight rate competitiveness. This research shows that Korean liners are ranked at high position for overall logistics service capabilities and focusing on the differentiation strategy but not on the cost related strategy.

  • The application of cloud computing to many industrial domains is rapidly increasing, and domestic and foreign cloud service providers are actively conducting business. In the domestic cloud market, it is necessary to establish an ecosystem with partner operators that work closely with private cloud service providers. In this paper, to create such an environment, we propose a framework that can evaluate the capabilities of partners required for cloud service providers to establish specific business strategies. The framework proposed in this study establishes criteria for evaluating partners' competencies and applies a decision-making model such as fuzzy AHP for evaluation. Eventually this will help not only to expand the domestic cloud market but also to strengthen the competitiveness of domestic cloud partners through the growth of the domestic cloud market.

Modified Transformation and Evaluation for High Concentration Ozone Predictions (고농도 오존 예측을 위한 향상된 변환 기법과 예측 성능 평가)

  • To reduce damage from high concentration ozone in the air, we have researched how to predict high concentration ozone before it occurs. High concentration ozone is a rare event and its reaction mechanism has nonlinearities and complexities. In this paper, we have tried to apply and consider as many methods as we could. We clustered the data using the fuzzy c-mean method and took a rejection sampling to fill in the missing and abnormal data. Next, correlations of the input component and output ozone concentration were calculated to transform more correlated components by modified log transformation. Then, we made the prediction models using Dynamic Polynomial Neural Networks. To select the optimal model, we adopted a minimum bias criterion. Finally, to evaluate suggested models, we compared the two models. One model was trained and tested by the transformed data and the other was not. We concluded that the modified transformation effected good to ideal performance In some evaluations. In particular, the data were related to seasonal characteristics or its variation trends.

  • In this paper we propose a modified fuzzy min-max neural network model for pattern classification and discuss the usefulness of the model. We define a new hypercube membership function which has a weight factor to each of the feature within a hyperbox. The weight factor makes it possible to consider the degree of relevance of each feature to a class during the classification process. Based on the proposed model, a knowledge extraction method is presented. In this method, a list of relevant features for a given class is extracted from the trained network using the hyperbox membership functions and connection weights. Ft)r this purpose we define a Relevance Factor that represents a degree of relevance of a feature to the given class and a similarity measure between fuzzy membership functions of the hyperboxes. Experimental results for the proposed methods and discussions are presented for the evaluation of the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed methods.

  • Electric Power system is a large scale nonlinear control one. Therefore, nonlinear control is desirable for the stabilizing, and it is thought that to establish an analytical method for optimal control inputs of AVR(automatic voltage regulator) and GOV(governor) is an important subject. In this paper, as a simple case, one-machine infinite-bus electric power model system with GOV is treated under the three kinds of control inputs; (i) fuzzy control input, (ii) linear control input and (iii) no control input. Next, the stability for each case is analyzed, and the three-dimensional stability regions and control responses are evaluated and compared. Finally, it is concluded that the linear control input does not necessarily give a good region and response, and the fuzzy one is better than others.

  • Mobile Ad-Hoc network is the network of mobile nodes which has no fixed infrastructure, and mobile node in MANET can move freely and communicate with each other. The location management is an important issue because location information of a mobile node is frequently changed in MANET. In this paper, we propose new quorum system applying the gravity of locality of mobile nodes adaptively by using the fuzzy-logic for the mobility of mobile nodes in order to manage location information of mobile nodes in MANET efficiently. The performance of the proposed scheme is evaluated by an analytical model and compared with those of existing UQS and DQS schemes.

  • Caching of frequently accessed data in mobile ad-hoc networks is a technique that can improve data access performance and availability. Cooperative caching, which allows sharing and coordination of cached data among several clients, can further enhance the potential of caching techniques. In this paper, we propose a cluster-based fuzzy cooperative caching method for mobile ad-hoc networks. The performance of the proposed caching method is evaluated through an analytical model and is compared to that of other cooperative caching methods.

  • .Ports are usually designed as a dead en port. With an increasing tendency of ship size, the problems such as maneuvering difficulty, turning basin, tugboat fee, etc. are getting to be pointed out. For solving such problem, the conversion of the idea fro dead end port to one-way through port is encourage. To examine the advantage of one-way through port, a quantitative and systematic analyzing procedure is needed. For this, this paper evaluated the preference on the three way of departture using the fuzzy measure and integral model.

  • In recent years, Vietnam's economic growth rate has been attributed to the growth of many well-managed industries within Southeast Asia. Among them is the civil construction industry. Construction projects typically take a long time to complete and require a huge budget. Many socio-economic variables and factors affect total construction project costs due to market fluctuations. In recent years, crucial socioeconomic development indicators of construction reached a fairly high growth rate. Also, most infrastructure and construction projects have a high degree of complexity and uncertainty. This makes it challenging to predict the accurate project price. These challenges raise the need to recognize significant factors that influence the construction price index of civil buildings in Vietnam, both micro and macro. Therefore, this paper presents critical factors that affect the construction price index using the fuzzy extent analysis process in an uncertain environment. This proposed quantitative model is expected to reflect the uncertainty in the process of evaluating and ranking the influencing factors of the construction price index in Vietnam. The research results would also allow project stakeholders to be more informed of the factors affecting the construction price index in the context of Vietnam's civil construction industry. They also enable construction contractors to estimate project costs and bid rates better, enhancing their project and risk management performance.
