In both Korea and the U.S., science education leaders and specialists insist that there is a shortage of curricula to address the new national science education guidelines in support of reform. This paper addresses development of new curricula for science education reform in the hopes of facilitating further development of guideline-based curricula. We examine Korean and U.S. thematic-based (Korean Science Field Trip at Cultural Sites Program and U.S. Graduate Teaching Fellows in K-12 Education) and project-centered (Korean Teachers for Exciting Science and U.S. Foundational Approaches in Science Teaching Program) programs. Using the criteria of rationale for curriculum, content and scope, processes of implementation, and assessment strategies, we identify the curricular components that are common across four successful secondary science programs and determine which of these components address the national guidelines. Our findings indicate that common components of these four programs meet the expectations of the science guidelines being used to revamp science education in both countries. Therefore, these programs not only engage secondary students and teachers in practicing successful science education, but also lead to successful science education practices that can be incorporated in the future development of curriculum to support secondary science reform.

The weakening of the traditional cultures is becoming more evident from the final quarter of the last century, a period of time where the world starts to look like a "small village" in all means. A substantial cause of cultural deterioration shows to be the growing use of information and communication technologies widening the views, mentalities, and perspectives of people. Today the adolescent groups frequently owning, utilizing and consequently being charmed by the electronic equipment such like computers, internet and cellular phones have developed a unique tradition/practice in sensing and meaning life triggering larger generation gap and fading of established cultures. The main focusing of the paper is on the correlation between computer and internet use and life satisfaction, level of hope, personal development assessments and expectations of the adolescent groups in Turkey. Interpretation of the survey findings indicates that this group grading highest in use of that shows to be the happiest, most hopeful and optimistic ones among other groups. Methodologically, the study is based on data analysis and a review of recent key literature. For more dependable results a further study comparing similar tendencies of the similar groups of other nationalities is recommended.

A phenomenological methodology was used to identify the life of children living with alcoholic parents. Nine adolescents participated in the in-depth interviews, done between October and December 2001. The Colaizzi's method was used for data analysis. The results of this study are as follows. One theme and thirteen meanings were identified, The one theme is Paradoxical Coping in Life. The meanings are obsessive behavior as a way to control father's behavior, always on the defensive due to anxiety and tension, being afraid of life alone due to paranoid thoughts, contradictory expectations about father's drinking behavior due to life with chronic tension, stress becoming familiar and life being boring and tendious without stimulation, life that is fake and filled with misinterpretations about reality, affection sought from others due to loneliness, compensatory life within peer group, negative expectation about the future due to negative experiences, controling others to protect ego, denial of real emotion to protect self from hurt, life of regretting self, and strong need for approval from others. The results of this study can provide a foundation for the development of programs for children of alcohol dependent parents.

This study investigates the users' perception of the importance and performance of National Recreation Forest Service Programs quality, forest environmental education and cultural benefits, with the aim of improving the level of service quality within the programs. An Important-Performance Analysis (IPA) was performed to determine significant patterns. The IPA results showed that most users' perceived as important how well the service programs performed to meet their expectations. The enclosed study finds, for example, users' answered that three factors which were less important to them were entrance fee, size of program center or facilities and amount of information. These factors performed poorly, and the program of guidance indicates the need for improvement of these factors. In addition, the finding also suggests how recreational service programs in the future can complement and improve what they offer. These are as follows. The process of preparation and content of the program order need to be effectively established. The Program Director needs to maintain a friendly attitude and must have ongoing training on how to provide effective programs. For programs to be enjoyable and satisfying for users, the location of the programs should provide a comfortable environment. Also, detailed program guidance is required for users' convenience. It is expected that the results of this study will be useful when ameliorating and establishing the marketing strategy of the National Recreation Forest Service Programs.

The objective of this paper is to find the density, stiffness, and strength of truss-wall diamond corrugation model combined with pinwheel truss inside space. The truss-wall diamond corrugation (TDC) model is defined as a unit cell coming from solid-wall diamond corrugation (SDC) model. Pinwheel truss-wall diamond corrugation (P-TDC) model is made by TDC connected with pinwheel structure inside of the space. Derived ideal solutions of P-TDC is based on truss-wall and pinwheel truss model at first. And then it is compared with Gibson-Ashby's ideal solution. To validate the ideal solutions of the P-TDC, ABAQUS software is used to predict the density, strength, and stiffness, and then each of them are compared to the ideal solution of Gibson-Ashby with a log-log scale. Applied material property is stainless steel 304 because of having cost effectiveness. Applied parameters for P-TDC are 1 thru 5 mm diameter within fixed opening width as 4mm. In conclusion, the relative Young's modulus and relative yield strength of the P-TDC unit model is reasonable matched to the ideal expectations of the Gibson-Ashby's theory. In nearby future, P-TDC model is hoped to be applied to make sandwich core structure by advanced technologies such as 3D printing skills.

The objective in here is to find the density, stiffness, and strength of truss-wall rectangular (TWR) model which is combined with lattice truss (MLT) inside space. The TWR unit-cell model is defined as a unit cell originated from a solid-wall rectangular (SWR) model and it has an empty space inside. Thus, the empty space inside of the TWR is filled with lattice truss model defined as TWR-MLT. The ideal solutions derived of TWR-MLT are based on TWR with MLT model and it has developed by Gibson-Ashby's theory. To validate the ideal solutions of the TWR-MLT, ABAQUS software is applied to predict the density, strength, and stiffness, and then each of them are compared with the Gibson-Ashby's ideal solution as a log-log scale. Applied material property is stainless steel 304 because of cost effectiveness and easy to get around. For the analysis, SWR and TWR-MLT models are 1mm, 2mm, and 3mm truss diameter separately within a fixed 20mm opening width. In conclusion, the relative Young's modulus and relative yield strength of the TWR-MLT unit model is reasonably matched to the ideal expectations of the Gibson-Ashby's theory. In nearby future, TWR-MLT model can be verified by advanced technologies such as 3D printing skills.t.

In this paper, we propose an optimal choice scheme to determine the best option among comparable options whose current expectations are all the same under the condition that an investor has a confidence in the future value realization of underlying assets. For this purpose, we use a path-averaged option as our base instrument in which we calculate the time discounted value along the path and divide it by the number of time steps for a given expected path. First, we consider three European call options such as vanilla, cash-or-nothing, and asset-or-nothing as our comparable set of choice schemes. Next, we perform the experiments using historical data to prove the usefulness of our proposed scheme. The test suggests that the path-averaged option value is a good guideline to choose an optimal option.

The purpose of the present study was to find the preferences of college students and to understand trends in their consumption patterns. This survey was conducted using a questionnaire containing 50 questions answered by 614 sudients of 4 universities in Daejeon and Seoul and the following result were obtained . 1. The majority of students favored coffee, yulmy tea, ginseng tea, and lllack tea in decreasing order. Only 49.0% of the students believe that ginseng was beneficial to the human life as a health, fond . 2. 54% of the students had experience in taking fresh ginseng and 68% had used in white ginseng. 3. Their expectations for the efficacy of ginseng were as remedies for hang-over syndrom, high blood pressure, heart trouble, liver trouble, and gastronic trouble, in decreasing order. 4. Most of the students took soup made by adding ginseng to chicken broth (SamGyetang) when taken ginseng. 5. The percent of students who had taken coffee was 97.7%, whereas only 48.3% had used processed ginseng products. The female students especially disliked ginseng tea. 6. The preferences of the students indicate that the likelihood that they will be major consumers of ginseng in the future is very low.

Among the changes of the management environments surrounding enterprises, one of the most important reasons that affect the organization management in the future would be the rapid development in the field of information technology(IT). And every company takes the speed to be important to maintain the competitive superiority of its own especially. To meet this kind of circumstances, the expectations to reorganize the business processes using the IT become higher. The IT is worth when the companies manifest their own potential powers by taking advantage of the it and when they evolve and apply the novel ways to the business as well. Even though they, therefore, introduce the information system to realize their strategic superiorities, it is difficult to achieve their initial aims. Moreover, in the phase of IT introduction, it is necessary to include the property of alignment between the IT and the conventional management fields containing the management strategy and the organization planning. In the case the company revolution by IT is carried out, the two facts we should note to maintain the alignment between the management strategy and the target of organization are as follows. First. it is required to share the common and underlying recognition on the IT between the chief executive officers(CEOs) and the system part. Second. it is important to exchange information with other companies by utilizing the IT.

The purpose of this study is to examine the ways in international married couples perceive the lives of their spouses as well as their own, and the ways in which they perceive their relationships with their children. In addition, the study attempts to explore the implicit meanings at work in the lives of international married families. The participants in this study were eight international married couples from rural areas and the data were gathered by means of semi-structured interviews. According to the findings, international married couples perceived their relationships with their children in terms of individual-specific maternal roles versus the Korean culturally-specific paternal roles. Secondly, in terms of their spouse' life, husbands relied more on their wives and had high expectations of them. On the other hand, wives had the tendency to pay more attention and place more hope on their children rather than their husbands. Lastly, regarding their own lives, the findings revealed that wives tended to maintain the hope and desire for a better life, whereas the husbands were unable to adapted to their reality and tended to look back on the past. In addition, the limitations of this study and suggestions for future studies were also discussed.
