  • Tropicália, which marked the beginning of Brazilian Popular Music (MPB), is a musical genre that originated in the Brazilian cultural movement and this arose in the late 1960s. The musicians who participated in this cultural movement delivered radical innovation by embracing the international music trend of the 60s, such as the Beatles phenomenon and the experimental and creative music of the electronic age. The music derived from this era incorporated the cannibalism of the Brazilian modernism cultural movement in the 1920s, and it presented a cultural consilience while maintaining the traditional Brazilian culture. In particular, the convergence of Tropicália with rock was especially prominent. As rock grew into the culture of resistance in both Britain and the United States, the convergent characteristic of Tropicália reflected the critical sociocultural view toward Brazil at that time. This paper focuses on the element of fusion of traditional Brazilian music and the rock music present in Tropicália. To present a case study, this paper selected music pieces by Caetano Veloso, the essential pillar of Tropicália, and examined each element through specific music analysis. This study aims to establish an academic foundation for third-world music and contributes to the development and creation of fusion music.

  • New areas can be created by combining separate fields of study. Today, boundaries between fields are collapsing because of rapid progress in technologies, which is also the case in music. In 1969, jazz trumpeter and respected artist Miles Davis combined jazz, rock, and classical music into the fusion genre. Classical music is known to be strict, rigorous, and rigid, and it started to take a different form after experiments with musical crossovers. This study examines the potential of more diverse musical crossovers that musicians use to evolve a new genre. Several musicians in Korea have attempted musical crossovers by following global music trends. In the album, "Love and Peace," the classical music pieces "Flight of the Bumblebee" and Beethoven's "Fate" were arranged using a popular music style.

  • To enable AI(artificial intelligence) to realize visual emotions, it attempts to create music centered on color, an element that causes emotions in paintings. Traditional image-based music production studies have a limitation in playing notes that are unrelated to the picture because of the absence of musical elements. In this paper, we propose a new algorithm to set the group of music through the average color of the picture, and to produce music after adding diatonic code progression and deleting sound using median value. And the results obtained through the proposed algorithm were analyzed.

  • This research approach is different from the existing definition of Tropical House. It was derived from an electronic music genre (deep house, chill out, dance hall). However, this study explains that Tropical House contains elements of other art forms as well as electronic music. These are the elements of Ireland's traditional music (Celtic music). This study explains why the fusion of Tropical House and Celtic music was easy. And it shows that elements of Celtic music are included in Tropical House through eight popular songs. It can be confirmed that the melody, harmony, rhythm, singing method, instrumentation, and structure of Tropical House are intertwined with the elements of Celtic music. The key point of this research is to suggest that Celtic musical elements are found in the Tropical House genre. In addition, creators need to pay attention to various types of music, including traditional music from around the world. It is suggested that creators need to think about how to combine today's music with various other genres to create original music.
