  • In this paper, a dual foot (DF)-PDR system is proposed for the fusion of integration (IA)-based PDR systems independently applied on both shoes. The horizontal positions of the two shoes estimated from each PDR system are fused based on a particle filter. The proposed method bounds the position error even if the walking time increases without an additional sensor. The distribution of particles is a non-Gaussian distribution to express the lateral error due to systematic drift. Assuming that the shoe position is the pedestrian position, the multi-modal position distribution can be fused into one using the Gaussian sum. The fused pedestrian position is used as a measurement of each particle filter so that the position error is corrected. As a result, experimental results show that position of pedestrians can be effectively estimated by using only the inertial sensors attached to both shoes.

  • In order to clarify the effect of various forms or phosphate on the production of paddy in Korea and to find out the superiority of any form, a number of field and pot experiments involving various phosphate fertilizers were carried out in addition to conducting one each of sand culture and soil culture pot experiments in 1963 and 1964. The results of these studies are summarized as follows: 1. In sand culture experiment, the best effect of a phosphate fertilizer was obtained with the mono-calcium phosphate which is soluble in water, followed by citric acid soluble phosphate such as fused phosphate and di-calicum phosphate. However, in the pot culture and field experiments, fused phosphate had shown it's superiority than triple superphosphate which contains water soluble form of phosphate followed by hypo phosphate, roasted phosphate, compound fertilizer, and slag phosphate. The effect of rock phosphate was the least in most cases. 2. The superiority of fused phosphate to triple super phosphate in soil culture was supposed to be: a) The fused phosphate can neutralize the soil acidity. b) The fused phosphate can supply magnesium and magnesium lead to the balanced conditions of exchangeable bases in soils. c) The magnesium in the fused phosphate helps the transportation of phosphate, and regulate the absorption of the element.

  • To deter-mine the most reasonable method for improving of newly reclaimed soil, seven kinds of improving methods were tested and the soybean was cultivated as test crop. The results obtained are summarized as follow: The newly reclaimed soil where this experiment was carried out showed low acidity and was deficient in the humus, the phosphate, the calcium and the magnesium. Both the fused phosphate as well as the calcium was much effective to the correction of the soil acidity. The compost was the most effective source to increase the content of the humus in the soil, and also the calcium application showed a significant effect to increase the amount of humus. Not only compost but also fused phosphate were much effective to increase the content of calcium in the soil. Each factor as the calcium, the fused phosphate, the compost and the deep plowing has an effect to increase the amount of magnesium in soil significantly. The compost increased the potassium in soil. The amount of magnesium in soybean plant was significantly increased by the application of the calcium, the fused phosphate or the compost. And the calcium and the fused phosphate had an effect to increase the grain yield of soybean. The highest grain yield of soybean was taken at the treatment of N.P.K.+Compost+Calcium+Deep-plowing. The grain yield of soybean was significantly correlated with the soil acidity, the amount of the humus and the magnesium in soil and the amount of the magnesium in soybean plant.

  • To find out the suitable method for blastomeres fusion of mouse 2-cell embryo using electric stimuli, these studies were carried out with various voltages (1.0 KV, 1.2 KV, 1.5 KV, 1.7 KV and 2.0KV), pulse duration times($50{\mu}\;sec$, $75/{\mu}\;sec$, $100{\mu}\;sec$) and different fusion solutions. In addition, the fused embryos were cultured for 72-80hr to observe their subsequent development. These results were summarized as follows: 1. The proportion of the fused embryos were 50.8%(34/67), 60.7%(34/56), 70.6%(48/68), 66.7% (48/72) and 85.3% (58/68) after stimuli of 1.0KV, 1.2KV, 1.5KV, 1.7KV and 2.0KV for $100{\mu}\;sec$ with 2 times, and the electric stimulation at 2.0KV(85.3%) was the most effective voltage on the blastomere fusion. 2. For in vitro development, blastocysts of the fused embryos were cultured for 72-80hrs in $M_{16}$ medium. The group(52.1%) treated with 1.5KV for $100{\mu}\;sec$ with 2 times showd higher development rates than those any other group. However, these results were not corresponded to those of the rates of blastomere fusion. 3. There were no significant differences among the rates of blastomeres fusion to 50(70.6%), 75(71.9%), and 100(78.0%) ${\mu}sec$ stimulation at 1.5KV with two times. However, the development rates of the fused embryo in vitro were 52.1%(25/48), 28.3%(13/46) and 9.4%(3/32) at the above conditions, and the development rates of fused embryo increased as the pulse duration times increased. 4. The rates of the blastomeres fusion were 38.9% (28/72) or 70.6% (48/68) in electrolyte (PBS) or non-electrolyte(0.3M mannitol) solution. The development rates of the fused embryo were 32.1% (9/28) or 52.1%(25/48) in the above fusion solutions, and non-electrolyte-treated group showed higher development rates of embryo than that of electrolyte-treated group.

  • Fused phosphate and slag have used as a sources of phosphate and silicate fertilizers. In order to find out effects of these fertilizers on the growth of young rice plants in nursery, relationships between dry matter production and nutrient uptake at different fertilizer application rates were investigated for two rice varieties, Milyang 23 (a Indica-Japonica hybrid) and Akibare (a Japonica). The results were summarized as followers; 1. The maximum dry matter production was obtained at 75-150 kg/10a of fused phospate and 100-200 kg/10a of slag, respectively, however, a some variations between varieties were recognized. 2. The top/root ratio of varieties around 1.0 was proper for healty see dings and this ratio was reached at application of 75 kg/10a of fused phosphate and 200 kg/10a of slag. 3. The efficiency of applied silicate of rice seedlings was higher in fused phosphate than in slag. 4. The growth of seedling was severely retarded when soil pH was increased above 7 by the application of more than 225 kg/10a of fused phospahte and 400 kg/10a of slag.

  • An abnormal female Holstein calf with ectrodactyly of right hindlimb was observed macroscopically and radiographically, and the results were summarized as follows. 1. The central and fourth tarsal bones in the left hindlimb were separated. 2. The tarsus in the right hindlimb consisted of five pieces; the talus, calcaneus, central and first tarsal bones were separated, and the second, third and fourth tarsal bones were fused. 3. The large metatarsal bone in the right hindlimb was fused rudimentary fourth metatarsal bone and well developed third metatarsal bone. 4. The phalanges of the lateral(fourth) digit were absent in the right hindlimb.

  • This paper compares of lasso type estimators in various high-dimensional data situations with sparse parameters. Lasso, adaptive lasso, fused lasso and elastic net as lasso type estimators and ridge estimator are compared via simulation in linear models with correlated and uncorrelated covariates and binary regression models with correlated covariates and discrete covariates. Each method is shown to have advantages with different penalty conditions according to sparsity patterns of regression parameters. We applied the lasso type methods to Arabidopsis microarray gene expression data to find the strongly significant genes to distinguish two groups.

  • We use three sensors such as a vision sensor, a proximity sensor, and a force/torque sensor fused by fuzzy logic in a peg-in-hole task. The vision and proximity sensors are usually used for gross motion control and the information is used here to position the peg around the hole. The force/torque sensor is used for fine motion control and the information is used to insert the peg into the hole precisely. Throughout the task, the information of all the three sensors is fused by a fuzzy logic controller. Some simulation results are also presented for verification.
