팽창재와 팽윤제가 혼입된 고로슬래그 콘크리트 Mock-up의 균열 저감 성능평가 (Mock-up Crack Reduction Performance Evaluation of Blast Furnace Slag Concrete Mixed with Expansive and Swelling Admixture)

  • 본 연구는 팽창성 및 팽윤성 혼화제를 혼입한 고로슬래그 콘크리트의 균열 저감 성능 평가를 목적으로 한다. 기본 성능 실험으로 고로슬래그미분말(BFS), 칼슘설포알루미네이트(CSA), 벤토나이트, 하이드록시프로필 메틸셀룰로오스(HPMC) 등 다양한 혼입물을 사용하여 수행한 결과 벤토나이트가 HPMC에 비해 우수한 성능을 나타내었다. 이후, 혼입률에 따른 균열 및 건조수축 평가를 위해 MOCK-UP 테스트를 실시하였다. 그 결과, 벤토나이트와 소량의 인산칼슘을 첨가하였을 때 건조수축이 감소되어 균열이 저감 되었다. 특히, 30 %의 BFS, 1 %의 벤토나이트, 1 %의 인산칼슘으로 구성된 시멘트 혼합물이 균열이 없는 최적의 성능을 보였다. BFS 콘크리트가 지속적인 팽창 활동에 의하여 수축을 보상하는데 기여할 것으로 판단되며 현장 적용에 사용될 수 있을 것이다.

  • 본 실험에서는 고로슬래그 미분말 치환율에 따른 이산화탄소 양생 모르타르의 기초 물성을 확인하였다. 실험 결과, 이산화탄소 양생은 CaCO3의 생성을 촉진하며 공극 감소와 조기 강도 발현에 영향을 준다. Ca(OH)2가 CaCO3보다 주된 강도 발현에 영향을 주며 고로슬래그 미분말 치환율이 높은 배합일수록 Ca(OH)2 생성이 감소한다. 하지만 Ca(OH)2가 소모된 이후에도 CaCO3를 통해 강도가 유지되며 이산화탄소 양생 이후 대기 중에 노출하여도 소요의 성능을 유지할 수 있을 것으로 전망된다. 고로슬래그 미분말 치환율이 50%를 초과할 경우 이산화탄소에 의한 성능 저하를 유발하므로 치환 비율을 조정할 필요가 있다.

Alkali-Silica Reaction of Crushed Stones

  • This study tested the alkali-silica reactivity of various types of crushed stones, following the specifications of ASTM C 227 and C 1260, and the results obtained from the tests were compared. This study also analyzed the effects of particle size and grading of reactive aggregate based on the expansion of mortar-bar due to an alkali-silica. The effect of mineral admixtures to reduce the detrimental expansion caused by the alkali-silica reaction was investigated based on the method specified by ASTM C 1260. The mineral admixtures used in this study were fly ash, silica fume, metakaolin and ground granulated blast furnace slag. The replacement ratios of 0, 5, 10, 15, 25 and 35% were uniformly applied to all the mineral admixtures, and the replacement ratios of 45 and 55% were additionally applied for the admixtures that could sustain the workability at these ratios. The results indicate that replacement ratios of 25% for fly ash, 10% for silica fume, 25% for metakaolin and 35% for ground granulated blast furnace slag were the most effective in reducing the expansion due to the alkali-silica reaction under the experimental conditions of this study.

고로 슬래그 시멘트 페이스트 내 자유염화물량과 물가용성 염화물량 평가에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Evaluation of the Water-soluble Chloride Content and Free-chloride Content in Blast Furnace Slag Cement Pastes)

  • The purpose of this paper is to compare free-chloride content with water-soluble chloride in blast furnace cement(BSC) paste. The content of free-chloride in cement paste measured by pore solution analysis and water-soluble chloride measured by ASTM. The result of this study are as follows: 1. The concentration of chloride ion in pore solution of BSC-solidified matrix is almost as low as 43-71% compared to that of OPC-solidified matrix containing the same chloride content in cement paste. 2. The binding capacity of specimens, OPC Pl-P5, are 93.5-77%, but the binding capacity of specimens, BSC Pl-P5 are 97.1-86.1%, which is to be as high as 2-9.1% compared to OPC containing the same chloride content. 3. In terms of water-soluble chloride content in BSC paste are 15-31.7 percent of chloride addition but free-chloride content in pore solution are 2.9-13.9 percent of chloride addition. The free-chloride content in pore solution is 19.3-43.8 percent lower for the water-soluble chloride content in cement paste.

  • In this study, evaluated ware the strength and durability of the vegetated water purification channel concrete to which recycled aggregates, hawang-toh and jute were applied. Box-Behnken method of response surface analysis in statistics was applied to the experimental design. Experimental variables are as follows, recycled coarse aggregates, hawang-toh, blast-furnace slag and jute fiber. In the experiment, conducted were the tests of compressive strength, chloride ion penetration, abrasion resistance and impact resistance the replacement rate effects of the recycled aggregates, blast-furnace slag and hwang-toh on the performance of vegetated water purification channel concrete were analyzed by using the response surface analysis method on the basis of the experimental results. In addition, an optimum mixing ratio of vegetated water purification channel concrete was determined by using the experimental results. The optimum mixing ratio was determined to be in 10.0% recycled coarse aggregates, 60.0% blast-furnace slag, 10.1% hwang-toh and 0.16% jute fiber. The compressive strength, chloride ion penetration, abrasion rate, and impact number of fracture test results of the optimum mixing ratio were 24.1 MPa, 999 coulombs, 10.30 g/mm3, and 20 number, respectively.

Fabrication of mineral fiber via melt spinning method from blast furnace slag

  • Mineral fiber, or be called mineral wool when it assembles in large amounts, is a kind of wide applied man-made material with excellent thermal and acoustic insulation properties. In this work, mineral fiber was produced via melt spinning method by using iron blast furnace slag as raw material. Two critical experimental parameters for fabrication were investigated: melt pouring temperature and rotating speed of spinning wheels. The mineral fiber produced under the condition of melt pouring temperature $1500^{\circ}C$ and spinning speed 4000 rpm, showed the smoother surface and most quality, while the others had rough surfaces or with heavy shots. In general, mineral fibers with the size in the range of $12{\sim}49{\mu}m$ in diameter and 8~130 mm in length can be fabricated by this method, and the production rate is more than 34 wt.%, which could be up to 57 wt.% at maximum.

  • In this study, metallurgical grade (MG) silicon with 99% purity produced by arc furnace process was systematically investigated for slag refining. The most problematic impurities to remove from MG silicon are boron (B) and phosphorus (P). To remove B and P from MG-silicon, we used synthetic slag in the molten state. MG-silicon with synthetic slag of CaO, $SiO_2$, and $CaF_2$ was melted using by high-frequency induction furnace with electrical output of 50kW. Specimens prepared by various refining process conditions(holding time, mixture ratio) were inspected by combined analysis of ICP-MS and XRF. With this approach, B has been reduced to <5ppm, P to <1ppm and other impurities to 0.1~0.2% except for Calcium. Calcium has been increased from 17ppm to 1500ppm. Problem of calcium contamination will be resolved by additional refining processes.

Investigation of Firing Conditions for Optimizing Aluminum-Doped p+-layer of Crystalline Silicon Solar Cells

  • Screen printing technique followed by firing has commonly been used as metallization for both laboratory and industrial based solar cells. In the solar cell industry, the firing process is usually conducted in a belt furnace and needs to be optimized for fabricating high efficiency solar cells. The printed-Al layer on the silicon is rapidly heated at over $800^{\circ}C$ which forms a layer of back surface field (BSF) between Si-Al interfaces. The BSF layer forms $p-p^+$ structure on the rear side of cells and lower rear surface recombination velocity (SRV). To have low SRV, deep $p^+$ layer and uniform junction formation are required. In this experiment, firing process was carried out by using conventional tube furnace with $N_2$ gas atmosphere to optimize $V_{oc}$ of laboratory cells. To measure the thickness of BSF layer, selective etching was conducted by using a solution composed of hydrogen fluoride, nitric acid and acetic acid. The $V_{oc}$ and pseudo efficiency were measured by Suns-$V_{oc}$ to compare cell properties with varied firing condition.

  • In this research the processing method of Desulfurized Plaster is changed to cyclotomy, 0.3mm sieve analysis and 500℃ heat exposure, and by changing the mix rate of the binding agent to 0~20%, it was applied to mortar that used cyclic aggregate and blast furnace slag for testing. The test results showed that the flow decreased in the order of cyclotomy, high heat exposure, and sieve analysis according to the mix rate of FGD, and while the air volume decreased for cyclotomy, it was shown to have almost no effect on sieve analysis and high heat exposure. The setting time accelerated as the mixing rate of FGD increased, and the compression strength increased as the mixing rate of FGD increased and especially showed a high trend with cyclotomy and sieve analysis.
