  • A prior fundamental study was executed using a constant volume chamber to improve the burning properties of lean pre-mixture by the injection of active radicals generated in the sub-chamber. In consequence, RI method shows remarkable progress in the aspects of burning velocity and combustible lean limit compared with SI method. In this study, the necessary additional works have been performed to be based on the former results. We changed parameters as the initial temperature and the initial pressure of mixture. And the effects of residual gas at issue in a real engine were investigated. As a result, the effects of initial temperature were significant, but on the other hand, those of initial pressure were slight. The correlation of passage hole number between overall passage hole area was grasped. And the more detailed analysis is required on residual gas.

  • In this study, under large scale yielding conditions crack propagation is found to governed by parameters based on the J-integral or on the crack opening displacement. But initiation of crack propagation of ductile material seems to be controlled by just on parameter that is the strain. The relationship between the critical value of J-integral and the local fracture strain in uniaxial tensile test in the region of maximum reduction in area. Therefore, the fundamental theoretical equation by the proposed elastic-plastic fracture toughness and the local fracture strain has a merit, in comparison with the ASTM method, which can measure by using the load-displacement curve and the specimens in tensile test.

  • In the present study, free vibration of an axially functionally graded (AFG) pile embedded in Winkler-Pasternak elastic foundation is analyzed within the framework of the Euler-Bernoulli beam theory. The material properties of the pile vary continuously in the axial direction according to the power-law form. The frequency equation is obtained by using Lagrange's equations. The unknown functions denoting the transverse deflections of the AFG pile is expressed in modal form. In this study, the effects of material variations, the parameters of the elastic foundation on the fundamental frequencies are examined. It is believed that the tabulated results will be a reference with which other researchers can compare their results.

  • This article presents a comprehensive model to investigate a free vibration and resonance frequencies of nanostructure perforated beam element as nano-resonator. Nano-scale size dependency of regular square perforated beam is considered by using nonlocal differential form of Eringen constitutive equation. Equivalent mass, inertia, bending and shear rigidities of perforated beam structure are developed. Kinematic displacement assumptions of both Timoshenko and Euler-Bernoulli are assumed to consider thick and thin beams, respectively. So, this model considers the effect of shear on natural frequencies of perforated nanobeams. Equations of motion for local and nonlocal elastic beam are derived. After that, analytical solutions of frequency equations are deduced as function of nonlocal and perforation parameters. The proposed model is validated and verified with previous works. Parametric studies are performed to illustrate the influence of a long-range atomic interaction, hole perforation size, number of rows of holes and boundary conditions on fundamental frequencies of perforated nanobeams. The proposed model is supportive in designing and production of nanobeam resonator used in nanoelectromechanical systems NEMS.

  • Combustion experiments are carried out to obtain the fundamental data for application of a internally circulating fluidized bed combustor to the combustion of paper sludge wastes. Experimental parameters are identified as secondary air ratio, sludge weight and water contents. The secondary air ratio was varied from 0 to 20% and water content was 14%, 25%, 35%, 45%, 62% and sludge weight was 30g, 60g, 90g. As a result, carbon conversion ratio was higher than injection of primary air. Emission of CO and NOx reduced with an increase of secondary air injection.

  • Optical interferometry and polarimetry have separately provided new insights into stellar astronomy, especially in the fields of fundamental parameters and atmospheric models. We present: scientific justifications for "full-Stokes" optical interferometric polarimetry (OIP); updated instrument requirements; preliminary beam combiner designs; polarimeter design; end-to-end OIP data reduction; and realistic reimaged full-Stokes models of Be stars with a suitable number of telescopes plus noise sources. All of this work represents preliminary research to construct an OIP beam combiner.

  • Let (R,m) be a commutative Noetherian local ring. In this paper we show that a finitely generated R-module M of dimension d is Cohen-Macaulay if and only if there exists a proper ideal I of R such that depth($M/I^nM$) = d for $n{\gg}0$. Also we show that, if dim(R) = d and $I_1{\subset}\;{\cdots}\;{\subset}I_n$ is a chain of ideals of R such that $R/I_k$ is maximal Cohen-Macaulay for all k, then $n{\leq}{\ell}_R(R/(a_1,{\ldots},a_d)R)$ for every system of parameters $a1,{\ldots},a_d$ of R. Also, in the case where dim(R) = 2, we prove that the ideal transform $D_m(R/p)$ is minimax balanced big Cohen-Macaulay, for every $p{\in}Assh_R$(R), and we give some equivalent conditions for this ideal transform being maximal Cohen-Macaulay.

  • Radiative properties of alumina particles which is the main element of the plume from booster and kick motor used for increasing thrust and insertion into the orbit is analyzed. In order to derive the wavelength integrated (i.e., gray) emissivity, emission term in radiative transfer equation is rearranged to be able to tie up with the parameters induced from fundamental particle scattering Mie theory. Result shows that derived gray emissivity with optical properties increases with temperature rising.

  • The wavelet PWM (WPWM) technique has been applied in two-level inverters successfully, but directly applying the WPWM technique to three-level inverters is impossible. This paper proposes a WPWM technique suitable for a single-phase three-level inverter. The work analyzes the control strategy with the WPWM and obtains the design of its parameters. Compared with the SPWM technique for a single-phase three-level inverter under the same conditions, the WPWM can obtain high magnitudes of the output fundamental frequency component, low total harmonic distortion, and simpler digital implementation. The feasibility experiment is given to verify of the proposed WPWM technique.

  • On the basis of recognizing that physicochemical properties (lipophilic/hydrophilic), intestinal absorption clearance and pharmacokinetic characteristics of drug are the fundamental parameters controlling the rate and the extent of drug absorption, the biopharmaceutics classification system for the correlation between drug lipid- solubility and intestinal absorption clearance is proposed.
