삼각단면 극소히트파이프의 작동특성에 관한 기초 연구 (Fundamental study on performance characteristics of a micro heat pipe with triangular cross section)

  • Numerical and experimental studies were performed to examine the characteristics of heat and mass transfer processes for a Micro Heat Pipe(MHP) with a triangular cross-section. Solutions on mass flow rate, pressure variation, and radius of meniscus were obtained using the mathematical model developed by Faghri and Khrustalev. To obtain an increase in capillary limitation, a triangular tube with curved walls was designed and fabricated. The measurement by microscope showed that the radius at corners of the tube was ranging between 0.03-0.05mm. Performance test for MHPs using the triangular tube with curved walls proved a substantial increasement in heat transport limitation, with 4.5W and 2.0W in case of using water and ethanol as a working fluid, respectively. In the previous study by Faghri a limitation of 0.5W was reported for a water MHP with a regular triangular tube.

  • In this paper, all elements used in integrated infrastructure for job competency assessments of NCS (National Competency Standards) will be merged into assessment system using multiple devices(ASMD). NCS is a systematic approach on required abilities (knowledge, technical expertise, attitude) to process the tasks in the fields by industry. Competiveness of ASMD design is that no limitation of time and space using personal devices like PC, laptop, smartphone, and tablet, while seeing screen, hearing, touching, speaking, and writing. Question type can be limitless to express the situation. To lead technologies and market for domestic and oversea assessment system, supporting on multiple devices with connectivity that will eliminate limitation of time and space is the key feature for design competitiveness. Design of integrated assessment system proposed in this paper can be applied to NCS, fundamental competency evaluation, online test, job aptitude test, and foreign language test which involve listening, reading, writing, and speaking. Compared with existing evaluation method, reduction of investment and operating cost will be greater. Along with development of ICT technologies, the next generation of integrated assessment system will be quickly changed to ASMD, which already involves connected service between internet and smart devices.

혈액투석 환자의 우울 예측 요인 (Factors Predicting Depression in Hemodialysis Patients)

  • Purpose: This study was done to provide fundamental data for developing a depression prediction model by discovering main factors that affect depression in patients who do maintenance hemodialysis. Method: The subjects were 191 patients doing maintenance hemodialysis selected from outpatient dialysis clinics at 9 major general hospitals, The Instrument tools utilized in this study were adapted from depression, fatigue, sleep disturbance, stress, adaptation, symptoms, daily activities, and role limitation and thoroughly modified to verify reliability and validity. The collected data was analyzed with a SPSS-PC 11.0 Window Statistics Program for real numbers, percentage, average, standard deviation, and multiple regression. Results: The correlation factor for depression was (M=2.54) fatigue(M=3.12), sleep disturbance (M=2.82), stress(M=3.04), adaptation(M=2.53), daily activities(M=2.24), symptoms(M=2.37), and role limitation(M=2.24). The strongest factor that affected depression was explained by symptoms of the patients who performed hemodialysis. The analysis of the factors that affected depression revealed a $58.4\%$ prediction in symptoms, stress, role limitation, and adaptation. Conclusion: It has been confirmed that the regression equation model(Depression=7.351 + .266$^{\ast}$symptoms + .260$^{\ast}$stress -.l89$^{\ast}$adaptation + .057$^{\ast}$fatigue) of this research may serve as a prediction factor for depression in Hemodialysis Patients.

HSLDS 마그네틱 진동절연체의 절연성능에 대한 설계 파라미터 분석 (Design Parameter Study on the Isolation Performance of the HSLDS Magnetic Vibration Isolator)

  • In general, the softer the stiffness of a linear vibration isolator the better the performance of isolation can be achieved. However, the stiffness of the isolator cannot be made too soft because it needs a sufficient stiffness to hold the load. This is the most critical limitation of a linear vibration isolator. Recently, a HSLDS (High-Static-Low-Dynamic-Stiffness) magnetic vibration isolator was proposed to overcome this fundamental limitation. The suggested isolator utilizes two pairs of attracting magnets that that introduces negative stiffness. Previously, this new type of vibration isolator was merely introduced and showed a possibility of practical use. In this paper, detailed dynamics of the HSLDS magnetic isolator are studied using computer simulations. Then, the isolation performance is examined for various design parameters to aid the practical use.

A Study on Integral Equalities Related to a Laplace Transformable Function and its Applications

  • This paper establishes some integral equalities formulated by zeros located in the convergence region of a Laplace transformable function. Using the definition of the Laplace transform, it shows that Laplace transformable functions have to satisfy the integral equalities in the time-domain, which can be applied to the understanding of the fundamental limitations on the control system represented by the transfer function. In the unity-feedback control scheme, another integral equality is derived on the output response of the system with open-loop poles located in the convergence region of the output function. From these integral equalities, two sufficient conditions related to undershoot and overshoot phenomena in the step response, respectively, are investigated.

Stochastic Duels with Multiple Hits, and Fixed Duel Time

  • A stochastic fundamental duel with continous interfiring times is considered for including the kill effect of multiple hits and fixed duel time. Two alternatives, 'vital hit' and 'damage coefficient' approaches, are developed. Since a large quantity of ammunition is consumed when a sure kill is obtained through repetitive multiple hits, limitation of initial ammunition supply is included in the stochastic duel models with multiple hits and fixed duel time. General solutions are obtained and examples with negative exponential interfiring times and geometric ammunition supply are given.

  • The fundamental stochastic duel of Williams and Ancker is combined with the probabilistic linear, square and mixed laws of Brown and Smith when the battle time is limited and interfiring times are continuous. The Probability of a given side's winnig or a draw is derived in a recursive equation with Laplace transforms. Examples with negative exponential firing times are given. In linear law an exact closed form solution is obtained, whereas for square and mixed laws only square ($2{\times}2$) duels are considered.

  • As high-capacity disk drives pow in track density, the allowable level of PES is becoming smaller. In this paper, some design concept of actuator is introduced to suppress the Butterfly mode that imposes the fundamental limitation on servo bandwidth. The effect of dynamics of proposed actuator on PES is examined by simulation.

  • Since the basement building like the communication hole and etc. is built under the ground where it is pressed by the water, the leakage happens due to the dried-shrinking crack, the sinking crack, the creation of the work-joint of the building and etc. caused by the character of the material and construction way of the reinforced concrete building. Especially, a lot of repair for the leakage cannot help but being taken in temporary way without any noticeable countermeasure. Therefore, this kind of repair is socially criticized many times that this is defective construction even if this costs a lot. The fundamental reason of the above mentioned symptoms can be found in the creation of the work-joint caused by the character of the concrete building, the limitation of the physical performance of the existing water-proof and repair material, the limitation of the construction, the limitation of the physical sustaining performance of the concrete building, the limitation(heat-injury, deterioration) of the constancy of the durability caused by aging and etc. Therefore, in this study, we would like to present the better understanding on the water-proof seal relating to the application at the spot and its test evaluation related data since the necessity of the establishment of the quality control standard and the performance testing way on the relevant water-proof seal is rising a lot to regulate the water-proof technology and the leakage repair technology in accordance with the growth of the demand on the facility.
