As a fundamental knowledge source in a global learning environment, it is feasible to apply the relational database management systems (RDBMS), object-oriented database management systems (OODBMS), and other traditional DBMS. However, the traditional DBMSs are not feasible in semantic knowledge/ontology representation and inference. One of the reasonable ways to overcome the limitations is the semantic web-based business support framework. Especially, in this study, we focused on the development of semantic web ontology and natural language (NL)-based inference framework. To validate the efficiency of the proposed framework, we considered a reasonable scenario for course recommendation in a university.

Taxonomic identification is fundamental to all microbiology studies. Particularly in metagenomics, which identifies the composition of microorganisms using thousands of sequences, its importance is even greater. Identification is inevitably affected by the choice of database. This study was conducted to evaluate the accuracy of three widely used 16S databases-Greengenes, Silva, and EzBioCloud-and to suggest basic guidelines for selecting reference databases. Using public mock community data, each database was used to assign taxonomy and to test its accuracy. We show that EzBioCloud performs well compared with other existing databases.

Objectives: To examine the fundamental characteristics of interventional clinical trials registered in the CRIS (Clinical Research Information Service) database. Methods: We systematically analyzed the status of Korean medical interventions using the search function of the CRIS database. Results: From 2010 to January 2020, 267 Korean medicine-related clinical trials were registered with CRIS. The studies, which included many randomized trials (80.14%), focused primarily on demonstrating the effectiveness and safety of acupuncture and Korean herbal remedies. Most of these studies were government-sponsored and researcher-led clinical trials, but a few were company-sponsored trials. All trials were small and need improvement. Conclusion: This study reviews the current status of clinical trials in the field of Korean medicine and the basic data that can be used to create evidence-based Korean medicine.

This study is to elicit the factors affected on the medical examination in the tra야tional medicine using the technical method of the decision tree and characterize the Patient subject by clustering analysis technique. And to draw results from the association analysis between the form of diseases in the re-hospitalized Patient group. The obtained results were analyzed for their effect on the hospital Profits. Thus. through application of the database marketing to the data mining technique in the tradition리 medicine, the characteristics of patient clients for the objective induction of factors affected on the hospital Fronts can be identified. Practical application of the database marketing as presented in this study will bring about a fundamental efficiency of hospital management and vitalization.

ASN.1 is the most fundamental technology in network management. The develoment of ASN.1 environment requires three steps : compiler work to parse ASN.1 languages, updating database with the parsing results, and pretty-printing work for data in the database. This paper presents the design and implementation of the translator which automatically translates the specification of ASN.1 to the object-oriented language C++. This system provides a total environment including for various graphic user interface, DB interface, browser to develop ASN.1 for development environment of ASN.1 For the implementation, Objectivity DB is used for database, flex and yacc for compiling, and Tcl/Tk for user interface.

Telecommunication revolution, which was triggered by the convergence of computer and telecommunication technologies, is changing the fundamental fabrics of industrial society. Especially, mass media of our society are forced to face the changes in both their production and distribution processes because of these emerging new technologies. News database industry is an area of new business opened by those technologies which made physical processes of newspaper production and distribution electronic. In this article, the status and trend of Korean newspaper database industry is described in comparison with those of the U.S. and Japan, and the difficulties to overcome are briefly discussed.

In order to establish detailed plans for fire protection and reduce the possible fire accidents in the future, collection of domestic and foreign fire accident cases and fundamental analysis are very important. In this study the classification model for fire accidents was developed and the direction to a new model was suggested by comparison ours with the accidents classification model of NFPA of United States of America and Japan. A new developed PC-based database program for fire accidents (FADBS) was used to analyse fire accidents easily and efficiently.

The growth of digital image an video archives is increasing the need for tools that efficiently search through large amount of visual dta. Retrieval of visual data is important issue in multimedia database. We are using contented-based visual data retrieval method for efficient retrieval of visual data. In this paper, we introduced fundamental techniques using characteristic values of image data and indexing techniques required for content-based visual retrieval. In addition we introduced content-based visual retrieval system for use of digital library.

The current method for accessing interconnection charges in Korea, called a hybrid model in this paper, mixes a top-down with a bottom-up LRIC model. The method has given stable charges so far. However, according to the fundamental changes of the market, policy, and network technology in the telecommunications industry, it requires analyzing the validity of the method. We investigate the problems of the top-clown, bottom-up, and hybrid model used in Korea and analyze their effect on regulation policy.

Though the laser cutting process is increasingly used in industry, a process automation and systematic database is still yet to be developed. In this study, as the fundamental step toward the construction of a reliable process expert system, a laser cutting quality monitoring/analysis system is developed based on simulations and experimental results. The relations between laser process parameters and laser cutting surface quality parameters such as kerf geometry, striation, surface roughness and dross formation are characterized and analyzed. A graphical user interface is used to visualize the results.
