  • New product development is a complex managerial process which involves multiple functional groups, each with a different perspective. Quality function deployment (QFD) is a new product development process which stresses cross-functional integration. QFD provides a specific approach for ensuring quality through each stage of the product development and production process. This paper provides an overview of QFD including its concepts and methods, and then proposes an integrated approach to formulating and solving the QFD process. This paper also discusses issues associated with the prescriptive modeling of QFD.

  • Nowadays, the demand of functional white milk has been augmented because of the widespread well-being popularity. Especially, in case of white milk, there are brisk efforts In segmentation of the functional product, in an effort to break through the limitation of creating new demands out of fixed demands and school meal service. The companies are also looking for the solution in the development of functional white milk in that they have no other way to increase the customers' demand, but the differentiation of the product, since the companies consider that content of white milks are exactly the same that there is no need to compete. Following this, the package design availed of the development of functional milk and took important charge of conveying and emphasizing the product's functional special quality and information to customers. Consequently, in this research, we will going to look at more desirable design differentiation strategy of functional milk by examining the basics of functional milk and by analysing the functional characteristic of current products and the expression strategy of package design.

  • As the aging society progresses and the functional cosmetics market is revitalized we have learned that the functional cosmetics that the silver generation is most interested in are wrinkle-improving products and we are making great efforts to develop functional cosmetics that improve wrinkles. The ingredients are actually making. From the early 2000s when the development of functional cosmetics began to the present the research trends of functional cosmetics for wrinkle improvement were analyzed by analyzing papers on functional cosmetics for wrinkle improvement. Research methods focused on literature search and SIRS paper search keywords. And the cosmetic material that needs to be researched focuses on the anti-aging function among functional cosmetics which is the anti-wrinkle function. The research results show the rapid growth of the Anti-aging market. As the population ages the generation of silver with high purchasing power will expand and a market for expensive anti-aging products and services for a healthy old age will be formed.

  • As a part of searching tot the natural components which inhibit the skin aging and wrinkle formation, the $80\%$ methanolie extracts of 121 species of traditional herbal medicines used to treat lung and skin disease were investigated for their in vitro anti-oxidative activity against 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) and superoxide radicals, and inhibitory activity against elastase. We selected 9 kinds of the traditional herbal medicines showing inhibitory activities of winkle formation. The effective concentrations of 9 candidates for anti-wrinke/skin firming activity was less than 0.1 mg/mL, and there is no toxicity to cell viability at these concentrations. Through analysis of human skin primary patch test data, the traditional herbal medicines represented non-irritant materials. We suggest that these 9 candidates with ability to help anti-wrinkle/skin firming may be useful for functional cosmetic materials.

  • The major purposes of this paper are (1) to explore korean rural planning as subplanning of nation planning and regional planning, (2) to explore functional change of korean rural areas, (3) and suggest appropriate policy for functional change of rural society in Korea. I divided korean rural planning into five periods according to its paradigm shift. In the first period of rural planning lay emphasis on food self-supply, antipoverty and improvement of living condition. In the second period of rural planning lay emphasis on food self-supply, green revolution and income gap mitigation between urban and rural areas. In the third period of rural planning lay emphasis on integrated rural development. In the fourth period of rural planning lay emphasis on multifunctionality of agriculture. In the fifth period of rural planning Korea government announced a new policy and lay emphasis on balanced national development. Food supply used to be most important function of rural areas, but it is weakened in recent days. The role as axis for balanced national development become another important function of rural areas.

  • Objective : To build a basis of patent analysis for development of Korean ginseng as a competitive medical product in the world market. Methods : Survey of all patents related to ginseng or ginseng products in Korea and other rival countries such as the USA, Japan or EU, using KIPRIS. Results : Korea has more patents of ginseng itself , however has fewer patents related to functional goods, higher value-added businesses or medical technologies using ginseng than rival countries. Conclusion : The Oriental medical world should make more effort to verify the pharmacological effects of ginseng, develop high value-added functional products or medical technologies using ginseng and apply for more patents in such fields.

  • Increasing knowledge on the link between diet and human health has generated a lot of interest in the development of functional foods. However, several challenges, including discovering of beneficial compounds, establishing optimal intake levels, and developing adequate food delivering matrix and product formulations, need to be addressed. A number of new processes and materials derived from nanotechnology have the potential to provide new solutions in many of these fronts. Nanotechnology is concerned with the manipulation of materials at the atomic and molecular scales to create structures that are less than 100 nm in size in one dimension. By carefully choosing the molecular components, it seems possible to design particles with different surface properties. Several food-based nanodelivery vehicles, such as protein-polysaccharide coacervates, multiple emulsions, liposomes and cochleates have been developed on a laboratory scale, but there have been very limited applications in real food systems. There are also public concerns about potential negative effects of nanotechnology-based delivery systems on human health. This paper provides an overview of the new opportunities and challenges for nanotechnology-based systems in future functional food development.

  • Nanofood is advanced functional food which food industry and food scientist try to develop process foods in near future. To be developed nanofood, nanofood materials are needed, such as biodegradable nanosphere material, biotechnical nanofood material, and protein and nanofood material. There are some food industrial applications with nanotechnology, such as nanoencapsulation, nanomolecule making, nanoparticle and powder making, nano separation, and nano extration. We can find several nanofoods and nanofood materials on the market. In addition, dairy industry is also in the first step for the development of nanofunctional food. However, nanoencapsulations of lactase, iron, vitamin C, isoflavone are developed for functional milk. Dairy industry needs various nanofood materials to be advanced functional dairy products.

  • The development of food science in the near future probably depends on the advance in functional food science. Actually, a number of substances and products with potential for disease risk reduction rather than simply for health maintenance have been investigated for their body-modulating functions. Some of them have been applied in practice to the industrialization of functional foods in terms of foods for health uses. Health is becoming a more important aspect of food. Consumers increasingly see the link between food and health, thus generating growing levels of consumer interest in more actively managing their diets and, by implication, their health. there is demand from consumers and strong manufacturer push towards the development of food as medicine. Pharmaceutical companies are currently focused on the medical aspects of food as medicine, but it is expected that there will be an increase in the rate of active ingredients for lifestyle application.

  • Presented in this study is a top-down functional requirement analysis procedure and the desired functionalities for PDM system development, and the benefits of top-down approach over a conventional bottom-up approach is also shown. For the purpose of top-down requirement analysis for PDM system, this study proposes 4P modeling view. 4P modeling view is defined as a modeling perspective for classifying functional requirements and integrating product-related information objects that must be man-aged within PDM systems. Based on 4P modeling templates, benchmarking analysis of commercially major PDM products is conducted and as a result of this analysis, this study suggests desired functionalities for PDM system.
