  • To clarify whether the closely related species living in the same area is a population or populations ecologically, leaf morphology, specific leaf area, and fruit and seed production were studied in the natural group of sect. Pes-gallinaceua of Corydalis of Namhansansung area from 1999 to 2000. There were 352 plants in one square meter and total eight species or varieties were identified. Of the 352 plants, the number of C. turtschaninovii was the most with 103(29.3%), and that of C. ambigua was the next with 78(22.2%), and that of C. turtschaninovii var. fumariaefolia was the smallest with 9(2.6%). In the 28 plants having spotted leaves, central leaflet did not parted or again parted. The extent of partition with the plant was various from non-parted type to perfectly two-parted type (three leaflet). Between two extreme types, there were diverse types so that this character formed a gradient. The rate of length/breadth was in the range of 0.79~2.17. This character was related to the extent of leaflet partition but did not well expressed the distinguishing trait along a species. The number and the type of serration were diverse and there was no sharp borderline among the species or varieties. Ecological properties, specific leaf area, the number of fruit per plant, and the number of seed per fruit, varied with a wide range in a species or variety but differences between species or variety were not significant. Therefore, the Corydalis group studied was regarded as a population on the three criteria: (1) possibility of interbreeding, (2) continuity of leaf morphology, (3) irrelevance between character and species, (4) similarity of several ecological properties.

  • The wild Pyrus plants belong to the deciduous woody plants in Rosaceae family. Most are cultivated for fruit productions, but some for ornamental plants. There are 5 Pyrus species including Pyrus ussuriensis and 8 varieties cultivated in Korea. In Korea, these plants are populated near villages or on the hills, and they are easily propagated since their fruit are very juicy and quite big in size. Plant breeding to get improved cultivars is not difficult because the Pyrus plants are easy to cross breeding among its genus. Because not only this reason but there have been shown lots of variation in wild groups, the Pyrus plants inhabited in Korea are excellent deciduous woody plants and favorable fruit trees to develop ornamental plants. It is necessary to develop many kinds of fruit trees and ornamental trees containing genetically different character, so that it will be satisfied for many different people's taste and demands. Collecting lots of wild plant resource with diverse genes is necessary for plant breeding.

  • Bottle gourd, Lagenaria siceraria, is one of the oldest cultivated plants. To bigin with, its fruit was used as a complete liquid bottle or container. It was a very widespread cultivated plant in prehistoric times, for example (there) is a report from Peru as early as between 13,000 B.C and 11,000 B.C. The dug-out finds in Japan proved to be about 95,000 years old according to the /sup 14/C analysis. The bottle grourd was the most important plant before the invention of pottery in many areas of Asia, New Guinea, Polynesia, America, and Africa. I would like to suggest that there should be "The Bottle Gourd Age" prior to the Pottery Age. Bottle gourds are also used for various purposes such as food, masks, pipes, musical instruments, medicine, symbols, artistic products and also as penis-sheaths of men's attire. Their purposes number more than 220 including 70 varienties of containers or bottles. I consider that its utilization should be called a culture, as it were, "The gourd culture." The shape and the size of the fruit of bottle gourd have a larger variety than those of any other plant. As for the size, it is reported that they range from those that are shorter than 3cm to those that are ovoid and longer than 60cm in diameter. With regard to the shape of its fruit, the bottle gourd can be classified into 7 groups and even more than 30 races, considering the difference of the size. The seeds are so variable without two horn-like projections, with smooth surface or longitudinalines, white or brown, with smooth corky margin. Generally, it seems that there is no correlation between seem shape and fruit shape. My study shows that the seeds of gourd. My study shows that the seeds of gourd in Asia are so simple in shape and in color except for the size. But the seeds of those in Africa are various and seem to be beyond the confines. Explaining the great diversity of the seeds of those in Africa therefore, they appear to have no correlation among the types of fruit of the bottle gourd with African origin. It might be supposed that another 4 wild Lagenaria spp. distribute only in Africa. The intraspecies hybrid is confirmed between the bottle gourd, Lagenaria siceraria, and wild L. spehaerica. And Fl hybrid is sterile: it has no fertility. However, even though the shapes of the fruit and the seeds are different, they can cross with each other. Moreover, their hybrids grow up to be extremely vigorous and have normal fertility. Fruit shapes of Fl plants are similar to those of their parents, if they have the same character. Whereas, the fruit shape often became different from each other when the cross occurs between those with different fruit shapes. It is shown that dumbbell shapes, HYOTAN in Japanese, is recessive while its bitterness is dominant. Thus the character of F2 hybrids Is segregative. I'll give further particulars of the heredity of the groud in my lecture.

  • This study was carried out to investigate some morphological characters of fruit bodies of Ganoderma lucidum and to classify the fungus on the bases of the genetic character. Some of the isolates of the fungus which originally have the kidney-shaped fruit bodies produced the antler-shaped fruit bodies on artificial media and the latter characters were inherited. Pattern of the pileus surface and thickness of the pileus of the fruit bodies were also considered to be hereditary. Although morphology of the pileus margin and fruiting mode of the fungus were variable among the isolates, they were greatly influenced by environment conditions. Ganoderma lucidum could be classified into two groups and four strains according to the morphology of the fruit bodies on artificial cultivation media. Electrophoretic patterns of esterase, peroxidase, leucine aminopeptidase(LAP) and proteins of fruit bodies and mycelia of Ganoderma lucidum showed high genetic variation. Isozyme patterns of esterase of the mushroom mycelia were applicable for the classification of strains of the fungus. Patterns of proteins, leucine aminopeptidase and peroxidase did not indicate any genetic relation among the fungus strains.

  • Fruit characteristics, saccharinity, and antioxidative activity of selected clones of Rubus coreanus, grown in Korea, well-known as edible and medical resources, frequently used and which has an excellent pharmacological activity are examined and analyzed. The results obtained from this study can be summarized as follows; Result of surveying characteristics for the fruit and saccharinity variation by collection time, there are some meaningful differences between examined clones and the collection time, exception of the fruit width. From the clones, SG 3 is the biggest in size, the highest in the saccharinity out of five clones, on the other hand, CJ 18 and SH 3 are the opposite. Meanwhile, comparing examined saccharinity factor with maximum temperature and precipitation out of daily climates at Suwon Meteorological Observatory at the same period, on the day the highest temperature is $29.5^{\circ}C$, saccharinity distinctively ascends, but on the day the precipitation is recorded 121.5 mm and next day, the saccharinity descends. Also, five-day saccharinity until the precipitation lower than 0.1 mm per day shows from 10.4 to 11.5 Brix higher than the average saccharinity of 9.7 Brix. Fifteen clones including CA 6 about fruit characteristics in terms of collection layer and saccharinity variation were examined, there is significantly difference among examined clones, but about the collection layer, only saccharinity factor has meaningful significance. For clones, MJ 11 is the biggest and excellent character of 15 clones but the saccharinity, 10.3 Brix lows a bit, MC 9 and HAE 5 are the worst fruit in character but saccharinity is 13.4 Brix and 10.6 Brix which is higher than the average saccharinity of 9.8 Brix. About saccharinity for the collection layer, the fruit average saccharinity, collected from the upper layer which is good at lightness and temperature condition, is 10.2 Brix which shows higher than the one of the fruit, 9.7 Bix and 9.5 Brix collected from the middle or the lower layer. The saccharinity of fruit collected from the middle or the lower layer is lower than the average saccharinity of 9.8 Brix out of 15 surveyed clones. Surveying antioxidative activity resulted from free radical scavenging activity about 30 clones of fruit in total, there is difference between surveyed clones. Especially, Immatured fruit extracts exhibited higher free radical scavenging activity of 94.5 to 97.5% which indicates the similarity to Ascorbic acid, unlike other clones, on the concentration of 250 to 1,000 ppm.

  • The cultural characteristics of fruit bodies formation in the two selected strains(brown and yellow strain) of winter mushroom collected in Korea were investigated. The effects of various environmental conditions and physicochemical pretreatments were evaluated by the character of fruit bodies. There was no differences between two strains in non-selectivity of media, optimum temperature($11^{\circ}C{\sim}15^{\circ}C$), relative humidity(90%), and illumination(60 lux). In the application of alternated temperature (the best condition : $5^{\circ}C{\cdot}10^{\circ}C$ and $5^{\circ}C{\cdot}15^{\circ}C$), ultraviolet ray(30~50 seconds), electricity(5 seconds), thiamine hydrochloride(0.05~0.1%), urea, and IAA as a pretreatments, there was no differences between two strains. The brown strain had larger pileus and longer stipes than these of the yellow strain, while the yellow strain yielded more weight and number of the fruit body formation than the brown strain.

  • Started to get over the political difficulties, Juhee put his heart into solving the mystery of "I-Chingchamdonggye", and the final answer he got was right this. In his coordinate ideology system, he positioned "I-Chingchamdonggye", in other word Dan. No, actually he reconfirmed the uprightness of his ideology system through "I-Chingchamdonggye" and Dan. Justness of Juhee's scholarship which was accused to be false study is ascertained even in trifling Dan and the classics of Dan. The fruit seems to be "I-Chingchamdonggyegoi".

  • The cultivars of wine grapes 'Doonuri', 'Narsha', 'Cabernet Sauvignon', and 'Merlot' were cultivated in Modified-T (MT), Modified-T Cane pruning (MTC), and Geneva Double Curtain (GDC) trellises, and the changes in vine growth, fruit and wine characteristics were compared for two years (2018 and 2019). With respect to the vine growth characteristics, the wine grape cultivars cultivated in the GDC trellis were significantly inferior to those cultivated in the MT or MTC trellises. The grape yields of the cultivars cultivated in GDC trellise increased by 1.5 to 2 times cultivated in the GDC trellises compared to those cultivated in the other trellis, however, the fruit characteristics (total soluble solids, titratable acidity, and berry weight) did not differ among the differently cultivated groups. Moreover, the anthocyanin content and red color of the wine were significantly enriched in all red wine grape cultivars cultivated in the GDC trellises.

  • This study was to compare year variations of heritability, phenotypic, genotypic and environmental correlations as well as pathway coefficients for main characters of tea tree to provide useful selection information for improving tea tree. The data collected from the performance yield trials from 1979 to 1981 were used in this study. I. The genetic variance of fresh fruit yielding, dryed fruit yielding and fresh weight of root was not only greatly varied with year, but also the largest among all characteristies studied. Other characteristics showed higher genetic variance than environmental variances, and year variances were not large. 2. Both year and variety x year interaction were highly significant sources of variation for all yield characteristics, and year variances were not large. 3. All characteristics showed high broad sense heritabilities, and the broad sense heritability was not varied with year. 4. The genetic correlation coefficients between fresh fruit yielding and dryed fruit yielding, fresh weight of root and Gigolpi, dryed weight of root and Gigolpi were positive, and the year variation was not large. S. The pathway coefficients of the character was not only greatly varied with year and the fresh weight of root affected directly on the Gigolpi.
