  • The parameters of Debye's equation were applied to analyze the frequency-dependent ground impedance of horizontally-buried wires. We present a new method, based on Debye's equation, of analyzing the effect of polarization on frequency-dependent ground impedance. The frequency-dependent ground impedances of a horizontally-buried wire are directly measured and calculated by applying sinusoidal current in the frequency range of 100 Hz to 10 MHz. Also, the results obtained in this work were compared with the data calculated from empirical equations and commercial programs. A new methodology using the delta-gap source model is proposed in order to calculate frequency-dependent ground impedance when the ground current is injected at the middle-point of the horizontal ground electrode. The high frequency ground impedance of horizontal electrodes longer than 30 m is larger or equal to its low frequency ground resistance. Consequently, the frequency-dependent ground impedance simulated with the proposed method is in agreement with the experimental data, and the validity of the computational simulation approach is confirmed.

  • A relatively high operating frequency is required for efficient wireless power transfer (WPT). However, the alternating current (AC) resistance of coils increases sharply with operating frequency, which possibly degrades overall efficiency. Hence, the evaluation of coil AC resistance is critical in selecting operating frequency to achieve good efficiency. For a Litz wire coil, AC resistance is attributed to the magnetic field, which leads to the skin effect, the proximity effect, and the corresponding conductive resistance and inductive resistance in the coil. A numerical calculation method based on the Biot-Savart law is proposed to calculate magnetic field strength over strands in Litz wire planar spiral coils to evaluate their AC resistance. An optimized frequency can be found to achieve the maximum efficiency of a WPT system based on the predicted resistance. Sample coils are manufactured to verify the resistance analysis method. A prototype WPT system is set up to conduct the experiments. The experiments show that the proposed method can accurately predict the AC resistance of Litz wire planar spiral coils and the optimized operating frequency for maximum efficiency.

  • This paper proposes an adaptive methodology for setting of the underfrequency relays that is based on the initial rate of change of the frequency decline to protect for excess frequency decline of power system under large generator outage. The strategy of the load shedding is as follows : Let the load shedding of the first step occur when the frequency reaches 59.5 (Hz), and the load shedding power of this first and second step be one half of the total "Static Load Shed" value for any given disturbance size based on the initial rate of change of the frequency. As a results, it is verified that the use of the proposed method is more efficient than the conventional method in the characteristic of the frequency recovery. recovery.

  • In this paper, it is investigated in advance about the PZT-based composition for piezoelectric vibration device. The specimens of piezoelectric ceramics are made of Columbite method. The piezoelectric vibration device by this composition is designed by ATILA(Magsoft) program used FEM(Finite Element Method). The vibration device used for mobile phone must be driven in the frequency of $130{\sim}200Hz$, so the resonant frequency of piezoelectricity must adjust driven frequency bandwidth. The result of analysis by ATILA is appeared dependant property of length, width, thickness and dummy weight about resonant frequency of the piezoelectric vibration device. The size of manufactured actuator is $28{\times}12{\times}0.3mm^3(length {\times}width{\times}thickness)$ and this is bimorph type. The test of manufactured piezoelectric vibration device measure displacement, acceleration and power dissipation. The piezoelectric vibration device has the advantage more than electro-magnetic motor, however the size of manufactured device is larger than electro-magnetic motor.

  • To improve the separation performance of time-frequency overlapped radar and communication signals from a single channel, this paper proposes an effective separation method based on an improved empirical wavelet transform (EWT) that introduces a fast boundary detection mechanism. The fast boundary detection mechanism can be regarded as a process of searching, difference optimization, and continuity detection of the important local minima in the Fourier spectrum that enables determination of the sub-band boundary and thus allows multiple signal components to be distinguished. An orthogonal empirical wavelet filter bank that was designed for signal adaptive reconstruction is then used to separate the input time-frequency overlapped signals. The experimental results show that if two source components are completely overlapped within the time domain and the spectrum overlap ratio is less than 60%, the average separation performance is improved by approximately 32.3% when compared with the classic EWT; the proposed method also improves the suitability for multiple frequency shift keying (MFSK) and reduces the algorithm complexity.

  • Improving the mechanical properties of concrete in the construction industry in order to increase resistance to dynamic and static loads is one of the essential topics for researchers. In this work, vibration analysis of elastic nanocomposite beams reinforced by nanoparticles based on mathematical model is presented. For modelling of the strucuture, sinusoidal shear deformation beam theory (SSDBT) is utilized. Mori-anak model model is utilized for obtaining the effective properties of the strucuture including agglomeration influences. Utilizing the energy method and Hamilton's principal, the motion equations are calculated. The frequency of the elastic nanocomposite beam is obtanied by analytical method. The aim of this work is investigating the effects of nanoparticles volume percent and agglomeration, length and thickness of the beam on the frequency of the structure. The results show that the with enhancing the nanoparticles volume percent, the frequency is increased. In addition, the water absorption of the concrete is presented in this article.

  • We studied on the nondestructive evaluation of the elastic wave signal of SiC ceramics and SiC/SiC composite ceramics under monotonic tensile loading. The elastic wave signal of cross and unidirectional SiC/SiC composite ceramics were obtained by pencil lead method and bending test. It was applied for the time-frequency method which used by the discrete wavelet analysis algorithm. The time-frequency analysis provides time variation of each frequency component involved in a waveform, which makes it possible to evaluate the contribution of SiC fiber frequency. The results were compared with the characteristic of frequency group from SiC slurry and fiber. Based on the results, if it is possible to shift up and design as a higher frequency group, we will can make the superior material better than those of exiting SiC/SiC composites.

  • The biological active points (BAP) are known as low resistance spots or good electro-permeable points. In this paper, a new method for BAP detection using the bio-impedance measurement system based on the adaptive frequency tracking filter (AFTF) and the transition event detector is presented. Also, the microcontroller process continuous time demodulation of the modulated signal by multi frequency components using the AFTF. The transition event detector based on the phase space method is applied about each frequency using the BAP equivalent model which is proposed.

  • In this paper, different frequency scales in cepstral feature extraction are evaluated for the text-independent speaker recognition. To this end, mel-frequency cepstral coefficients (MFCCs), linear frequency cepstral coefficients (LFCCs), and bilinear warped frequency cepstral coefficients (BWFCCs) are applied to the speaker recognition experiment. In addition, the spectro-temporal features extracted by the cepstral-time matrix (CTM) are examined as an alternative to the delta and delta-delta features. Experiments on the NIST speaker recognition evaluation (SRE) 2004 task are carried out using the Gaussian mixture model-universal background model (GMM-UBM) method and the joint factor analysis (JFA) method, both based on the ALIZE 3.0 toolkit. Experimental results using both the methods show that BWFCC with appropriate warping factor yields better performance than MFCC and LFCC. It is also shown that the feature set including the spectro-temporal information based on the CTM outperforms the conventional feature set including the delta and delta-delta features.
