Multicast Coverage Prediction in OFDM-Based SFN (OFDM 기반의 SFN 환경에서의 멀티캐스트 커버리지 예측)

  • In 3rd generation project partnership long term evolution, wireless multicast techniques which send the same data to multiple users under single frequency networks have attracted much attention. In the multicast system, the transmission mode needs to be selected for efficient data transfer while satisfying the multicast coverage requirement. To achieve this, users' channel state information (CSI) should be available at the transmitter. However, it requires too much uplink feedback resource if all the users are allowed to transmit their CSI at all the time. To solve this problem, in this paper, the multicast coverage prediction is suggested. In the proposed algorithm, each user measures its transition probabilities between the success and the fail state of the decoding. Then, it periodically transmits its CSI to the basestation. Using these feedbacks, the basestation can predict the multicast coverage. From the simulation results, we demonstrate that the proposed scheme can predict the multicast system coverage.

The Optimal Subchannel and Bit Allocation for Multiuser OFDM System: A Dual-Decomposition Approach (다중 사용자 OFDM 시스템의 최적 부채널 및 비트 할당: Dual-Decomposition 방법)

  • The advantages of the orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) are high spectral efficiency, resiliency to RF interference, and lower multi-path distortion. To further utilize vast channel capacity of the multiuser OFDM, one has to find the efficient adaptive subchannel and bit allocation among users. In this paper, we propose an 0-1 integer programming model formulating the optimal subchannel and bit allocation problem of the multiuser OFDM. We employ a dual-decomposition method that provides a tight linear programming (LP) relaxation bound. Simulation results are provided to show the effectiveness of the 0-1 integer programming model. MATLAB simulation on a system employing M-ary quardarature amplitude modulation (MQAM) assuming a frequency-selective channel consisting of three independent Rayleigh multi-paths are carried with the optimal subchannel and bit allocation solution generated by 0-1 integer programming model.

Low Complexity PTS Scheme for Reducing PAPR in OFDM Systems (직교 주파수 분할 다중화 시스템에서 최대 전력 대 평균전력의 비 감소를 위한 저 복잡도 부분 전송 수열 방법)

  • In this paper, the PTS scheme generate alternative orthogonal frequency frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) signal sequences by multiplying all the time domain samples with phase rotating vectors to find an OFDM signal having the minimum peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR). However, it needs an exhaustive search which causes large computational complexity. In order to solve this problem, we propose two efficient methods based on the crest factor. The first proposed scheme is to select time domain sample with large magnitude to calculate PAPR, and the next scheme is to calculate the absolute value of real and imaginary part of the sample at each subblock. The simulation results show that the proposed schemes achieve better PAPR reduction performance than existing PTS schemes.

Hierarchical Power Management Architecture and Optimal Local Control Policy for Energy Efficient Networks

  • Since energy efficiency has become a significant concern for network infrastructure, next-generation network devices are expected to have embedded advanced power management capabilities. However, how to effectively exploit the green capabilities is still a big challenge, especially given the high heterogeneity of devices and their internal architectures. In this paper, we introduce a hierarchical power management architecture (HPMA) which represents physical components whose power can be monitored and controlled at various levels of a device as entities. We use energy aware state (EAS) as the power management setting mode of each device entity. The power policy controller is capable of getting information on how many EASes of the entity are manageable inside a device, and setting a certain EAS configuration for the entity. We propose the optimal local control policy which aims to minimize the router power consumption while meeting the performance constraints. A first-order Markov chain is used to model the statistical features of the network traffic load. The dynamic EAS configuration problem is formulated as a Markov decision process and solved using a dynamic programming algorithm. In addition, we demonstrate a reference implementation of the HPMA and EAS concept in a NetFPGA frequency scaled router which has the ability of toggling among five operating frequency options and/or turning off unused Ethernet ports.

An Approximated Model of the Coefficients for Interchannel Interference of OFDM System with Frequency Offset (주파수 오프셋이 있는 OFDM시스템에서 채널간간섭의 간섭계수 근사화 모델)

  • In the conventional interchannel interference self-cancellation (ICI-SC) schemes, the length of sampling window is the same as the symbol length of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM). Thus, the number of complex operations to compute the interference coefficient of each subchannel is significantly increased. To solve this problem, we present an approximated mathematical model for the coefficients of ICI-SC schemes. Based on the proposed approximation, we analyze mean squared error (MSE) and computational complexity of the ICI-SC schemes with the length of sampling window. As a result, the presented approximation has an error of less than 0.01% on the MSE compared to the original equation. When the number of subchannels is 1024, the number of complex computations for the interference coefficients is reduced by 98% or more. Since the computational complexity can be remarkably reduced without sacrificing the self-cancellation capability, it is considered that the proposed approximation is very useful to develop an algorithm for the ICI-SC scheme.

The method which it sees when it reduces a communication frequency, it stands but is the user, it proposes the efficient group key distribution method it will be able to accomplish.

Equalization Digital On-Channel Repeater for Single Frequency Network Composition of ATSC Terrestrial Digital TV Broadcasting (ATSC 지상파 디지털 TV 방송의 단일 주파수 망 구성을 위한 등화형 디지털 동일 채널 중계기)

  • In this paper we consider technological requirements to broadcast digital television signals using single frequency networks (SFN) in the Advanced Television Systems Committee (ATSC) transmission systems and propose equalization digital on-channel repeater (EDOCR) that overcomes the limitations of conventional digital on-channel repeaters (DOCRs). Since there are no forward error correction (FEC) decoder and encoder, the EDOCR does not have an ambiguity problem. In addition, since an adaptive equalizer in the EDOCR removes multi-path signals, additive white Gaussian noise (A WGN), and feedback signal due to low antenna isolation, the EDOCR may have good output signal quality with high power.

  • We develop the signal processing method for adaptive implementing direction of signal and the frequency sensitivity of human visual system(HVS). Existing multiband energy scaling method makes ringing artifact because it does not consider signal direction. To solve this problem, we use block gradient for signal direction in addition to existing method. And we use the fact that frequency component of signal is more sensitive than value of signal over human eyes. we enhance the signal according to contrast sensitivity function(CSF) which is the model of frequency sensitivity of human eye. Compared that the existing analysis models only improve the efficiencies in the existing systems, the developed method can process the image signals to be more desirable and suitable to HVS.

  • To represent the accurate feature of signal and system, many researches have been done in many fields of basic and engineering science which led a great development of modem society. Even until currently, in order to acquire useful information from signals at high speed, many methods and transforms have been processed. In these methods, the Fourier transform which represents signal as the combination of the frequency component has been applied to the most fields. But as transform not to consider time information, the Fourier transform does not provide time information of the time and presents only overall features of signals. The wavelet transform, which is proposed to overcome this problem and recently expands the range of the application, presents time-frequency localization and many kinds of the wavelet can be applied according to the environment of application. In this paper, we detect the features of signals using the function which is considered as the wavelet and do research for filtering locally in the wavelet plane.

A Study on LLCL Filter to Reduce Harmonic Current of Grid Connected Power Inverter (계통연계형 인버터의 고조파 전류저감을 위한 LLCL 필터에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, the new LLCL filter is proposed for grid connected three-phase PWM inverter for passive damping. LLCL filter inserts a small inductor in the branch of the capacitor of the traditional LCL filter to compose a series resonant circuit to reduce the switching-frequency component on grid current. Using LLCL filter, the switching-frequency current ripple components can be attenuated much better than the LCL filter, leading to a decrease in the total inductance. However, the resonance phenomena caused by zero impedance from the addition of LC branch in LLCL filter can be a big problem. Resonance phenomena of LLCL filter can be a source of grid system instability, so proper damping methods are required. However, it is difficult to apply a passive damping method in the conventional LLCL filter, because the damping resistor increase impedance of the LC branch. Therefore, switching frequency component of grid current can not much attenuated by low Q of LC series resonance effect. In this paper, a new LLCL filter is proposed to overcome the conventional LLCL filter with passive damping. The validity of the proposed method is proven by simulation and experimental result.
