  • This paper presents an equal 3-way planar-type power divider. In conventional 3-way Wilkinson dividers, it has been difficult to realize the circuit because of the crossover of isolation resistors. In the proposed divider, the isolation resistors can be easily attached to the planar structure of the divider. In addition, no phase difference is observed at output ports without extra line compensation because of its symmetric structure. The fabricated 3-way divider has a greatly improved bandwidth by 160 % in $S_{11}$, 22.4 dB, min of isolation, and in phase characteristics between output ports at 2.4 GHz of center frequency from measurement.

  • Nowadays, learning of agents gets more and more useful in game environments. But it takes a long learning time to produce satisfactory results in game. So, we need a good method to shorten the learning time. In this paper, we present a strategy for improving the learning performance of Q-learning with prediction information. It refers to the chosen action at each status in the Q-learning algorithm, It stores the referred value at the P-table of prediction module, and then it searches some values with high frequency at the table. The values are used to renew second compensation value from the Q-table. Our experiments show that our approach gets the efficiency improvement of average 9% after the middle point of learning experiments, and that the more actions in a status space, the higher performance.

  • The demand of a three phase PWM inverter for the purpose of power control or grid-connecting is increasing. This inverter is connected to a grid through an L-filter or LCL-filter to reduce the harmonics caused by switching. An LCL-filter can reduce the harmonic of a low switching frequency and generate a satisfactory level of grid side current with a relatively low-inductance than an L-filter. But the additional poles caused by the LC part affects a stability problem due to induced resonance of the system. This paper presents a compensation method using a power theory to improve performance, the designed LCL-filter system and to reduce the stability problems caused by resonance. The effectiveness of the proposed algorithm is verified by simulations and experiments.

  • Highly integrated MPEG-4@SP video compression engine, VideoCore, is proposed for mobile application. The primary components of video compression require the high memory bandwidth since they access the external memory frequently. They include motion estimation, motion compensation, quantization, discrete cosine transform, variable length coding, and so on. The motion estimation processor adopted in VideoCore utilizes the small-size local memories such that the video compression system accesses external memory as less frequently as possible. The entire video compression system is divided into two distinct sub-systems: the integer-unit motion estimation part and the others, and both operate concurrently in a pipelined architecture. Thus the VideoCore enables the real-time high-quality video compression with a relatively low operation frequency.

  • OFDM Modulation is used for multimedia transmission At Urban Train. Recently the application field about data transmission is expanding the image as well. The case which the number of OFDM carrier is big is advantageous because multipass fading is big 18GHz wireless frequency. Existing WLAN which an ethernet transmission is possible is not suitable to a great distance transmission because number of carrier is 64. In this paper, we developed OFDM modem suitable to transmit broadband data at high speed train. A doppler compensation block added to offset the doppler effect. Therefore, the effectiveness is expected to be very big in field of urban train.

  • As the demand for slim laptops requires low-height optical disc drives, vibration problems of optical disc drives are of great concern. Additionally, with the decrease of a track width and a depth of focus in high density drives, studies on vibration resonance between mechanical parts become more important. From the vibration point of view, the performance of optical disc drives is closely related with the relative displacement between a disc and an objective lens which is controlled by servo mechanism. In other words, to read and write data properly, the relative displacement between an optical disc and an objective lens should be within a certain limit. The relative displacement is dependent on not only an anti-vibration mechanism design but also servo control capability. Good servo controls can make compensation for poor mechanisms, and vice versa. In a usual development process, robustness of the anti-vibration mechanism is always verified with the servo control of an objective lens. Engineers partially modify servo gain margin in case of a data reading error. This modification cannot correct the data reading error occasionally and the mechanism should be redesigned more robustly. Therefore it is necessary to verify a mechanism with respect to the possible servo gain plot. In this study we propose the experimental verification method for anti-vibration mechanism with respect to the existing servo gain plot. Thismethod verifies axial vibration characteristics of optical disc drives on the basis of transmissibility. Using this method, we verified our mechanism and modified the mechanism for better anti-vibration characteristics.

  • In wireless power transfer (WPT) system, the conventional compensation topologies only can provide a constant current (CC) or constant voltage (CV) output under their resonant conditions. It is difficult to meet the CC and CV hybrid charging requirements without any other schemes. In this study, a switching hybrid topology (SHT) is proposed for CC and CV electric vehicle (EV) battery charging. By utilizing an additional capacitor and two AC switches (ACSs), a double-side LCC (DS-LCC) and an inductor and double capacitors-series (LCC-S) topologies are combined. According to the specified CC and CV charging profile, the CC and CV charging modes can be flexibly converted by the two additional ACSs. In addition, zero phase angle (ZPA) also can be achieved in both charging modes. In this method, because the operating frequency is fixed, without using PWM control, and only a small number of devices are added, it has the benefits of low-cost, easy-controllability and high efficiency. A 3.3-kW experimental prototype is configured to verify the proposed switching hybrid charger. The maximum DC efficiencies (at 3.3-kW) of the proposed SHT is 92.58%.

  • The conventional discrete circuit for ABS/TCS system was examined and the problems of the system were analyzed by computer simulation. In order to improve the performance of ABS/TCS system, interface IC which has error compensation, comparator and under voltage lock-out circuit was designed and their electrical characteristics were investigated. The voltage regulator was included to compensate the temperature variation in the temperature range from $-20^{\circ}C$ to $120^{\circ}C$ for automobile environment. ABS and brake signal were separated using the duty factor of same frequency or different frequencies. UVLO(Under Voltage Lock-Out) circuit and constant current circuit were applied for the elimination of noise, and protection circuit was applied to cut the excess current off. Layout for IC fabrication was designed to enhance the electrical performance of ABS/TCS system. Layout was consisted of 11 masks, arrayed effectively 8 pads to reduce the current loss. We can see that the result of layout simulation was better than the result of bread board.

  • In this paper, the measurement system of crane moving range is concerned with range recognition technology using phase and magnitude of radio wave. By the proposed technology, we design the radio transmitter and receiver and realize the measurement system, and save the data in disk that is earned from 900Mhz RF signal, middle frequency 450khz of analog signal. As a result of RF measurement, we got 9.3 dBm of RF output and 96 dBc@10khz of phase noise. Range information is earned the data through digital signal processing of IF signal. For the estimation of range measured, we analyze the difference between real range and measurement range, and also suggest the method to remove the measurement error using average processing and amplitude properties. A result is 0.12 and 0.00422 deviation in l0mn-30m and within 5m respectively, and then 2.4E-04 deviation in 4m by using compensation of level characteristics lately.

  • Moving-target detection using frequency-modulated continuous-wave (FMCW) radar systems has recently attracted attention. Detection tasks are more challenging with noise resulting from signals reflected from strong static objects or small moving objects(clutter) within radar range. Robust Principal Component Analysis (RPCA) approach for FMCW radar to detect moving objects in noisy environments is employed in this paper. In detail, compensation and calibration are first applied to raw input signals. Then, RPCA via Gradient Descents (RPCA-GD) is adopted to model the low-rank noisy background. A novel update algorithm for RPCA is proposed to reduce the computation cost. Finally, moving-targets are localized using an Automatic Multiscale-based Peak Detection (AMPD) method. All processing steps are based on a sliding window approach. The proposed scheme shows impressive results in both processing time and accuracy in comparison to other RPCA-based approaches on various experimental scenarios.
