실배관 파괴특성 평가에 관한 연구 (I) (A Study on the Evaluation of the Pipe Fracture Characteristic (I))

  • In order to perform elastic-plastic fracture mechanical analyses, fracture resistance curves for concerned materials are required. 1T-CT specimen was used to obtain fracture resistance curves. But the fracture resistance curve by the 1T-CT specimen was very conservative to evaluate the integrity of the structure. And fracture resistance curve was affected by the specimen geometry and crack plane orientation. The objective of this paper is to be certain the conservativeness of the fracture resistance curve by the 1T-CT specimen and to provide the additional safety margin. For these, the fracture tests using the real pipe specimen and standard 1T-CT specimen test were performed. 4-point bending jig was manufactured for pipe test and direct current potential drop method was used to measure the crack extension and length for pipe test. From the pipe and the 1T-CT specimen test results, it was observed that the J-integral of the 1T-CT specimen test at the crack initiation point was very small compare to that of the pipe specimen test.

  • The effects of stitching thread on fatigue characteristics of polyurethane foam cored sandwich structures are investigated. Fatigue test and static test, being used in four point bending test, are performed with various diameters and distances of stitching thread. The Results show that the maximum load for bending tests is similar to each other, but after $1O^6$ fatigue cycles, the stiffness degradation of the stitching thread diameter $\emptyset$ 3mm specimen is a much larger than that of the $\emptyset$ 5mm specimen.

폐나일론을 이용한 섬유보강 아스팔트 콘크리트의 피로특성 및 경제성 분석 (A Study on Fatigue Characteristics and Economic Analysis of Discharged Nylon Fiber-Reinforced Asphalt Concrete)

  • 본 연구는 자동차 파쇄 잔재물의 활용성을 알아보고자 폐차과정에서 발생되는 폐나일론 섬유를 아스팔트 콘크리트에 첨가하여 일반 아스팔트 콘크리트와의 피로수명 비교, 경제성 분석을 실시하였다. 4점 휨 피로 시험을 수행한 결과 일반 아스팔트 대비 피로수명이 10% 향상되었으며, 이를 통해 경제성 분석을 실시하여 35년간 약 5.4억 원의 유지보수비용에 대한 비용 절감을 가져 오는 것으로 확인 되었다. 폐나일론 섬유 보강 아스팔트는 비용절감 효과와 더불어 폐자재의 환경처리비용 이점과 활용성 측면에서의 친환경적 공법으로 생애주기비용분석에서보다 더 큰 경제적, 사회적 효과가 발생 할 것으로 판단된다.

High Temperature Behavior of Oxidized Mild Steel in Dry and Wet Atmospheres

  • During the hot rolling process, steels develop an oxide scale on their surface. This scale can affect the mechanical properties of the rolled steel and its surface aspect. The main problem comes from the mechanical integrity of the oxide scales which could delaminate or crack, leading eventually to later oxide incrustation within the steel. The objective of the present work is to qualify the mechanical integrity of the iron oxide scales during the hot rolling process. The laboratory experiments use a four point bending test to simulate the mechanical solicitation which takes place during the rolling sequence of the steel slabs. The oxide scales grow on a mild steel at $900^{\circ}C$ under wet or dry atmosphere and the oxidized steel is then mecahnically tested at $900^{\circ}C$ or $700^{\circ}C$. The high temperature four point bending tests are completed with microstructural observations and with the record of acoustic emission to follow in-situ the mechanical damages of the oxide scales. The results show the role of water vapor which promotes the scale adherence, and the role of the temperature as the oxide are more damaged at $700^{\circ}C$ than at $900^{\circ}C$.

Simulation study on CFRP strengthened reinforced concrete beam under four-point bending

  • This paper presents numerical modeling of the structural behavior of CFRP (carbon fiber reinforced polymer) strengthened RC (reinforced concrete) beams under four-point bending. Simulation of debonding at the CFRP-concrete interface was focused, as it is the main failure mode of CFRP strengthened RC beams. Here, cohesive layer was employed to model the onset of debonding, which further helps to describe the post debonding behavior of the CFRP strengthened RC beam. In addition, the XFEM approach was applied to investigate the effects of crack localization on strain field on CFRP sheet and rebar. The strains obtained from the XFEM correlate better to the test results than that from CDP (concrete damaged plasticity) model. However, there is a large discrepancy between the experimental and simulated loaddisplacement relationships, which is due to the simplification of concrete constitutive law.

The Elastic Moduli and Fatigue Properties of Canine Trabecular Bone Tissue

  • The elastic modulus and fatigue properties of canine and human trabecular bone tissues (single trabecular) were experimentally determined on a microstructural level using four-point bending cyclic test, and they were compared based on microstructural characteristics and mineral density. The results showed that canine trabecular bone tissue had significantly lower modulus and lower fatigue strength than human tissue. The observed microstructural differences between the two tissues may be more responsible for the differences, although the lower mineral density in canine tissue might also have contributed to the lower modulus and fatigue strength.

4점굽힘시험에 의한 실리콘 다이의 두께에 따른 파단강도 평가 (Evaluation of Flexural Strength of Silicon Die with Thickness by 4 Point Bending Test)

  • 전자기기의 고집적화를 위해 실리콘 웨이퍼의 두께가 점점 얇아지고 있으며 이로 인해 제조공정 중 균열이나 파손이 발생할 가능성이 높아지고 있다. 본 연구에서는 300 ${\mu}m$~100 ${\mu}m$ 두께의 반도체용 단결정 실리콘 웨이퍼의 파단 강도 및 파괴특성을 평가하였다. 기계적 연마를 통해 두께 (300, 200, 180, 160, 150, 100 ${\mu}m$)가 다른 실리콘 웨이퍼를 준비하였다. 하나의 웨이퍼에서 40개의 실리콘 다이(크기 : 62.5 mm${\times}$4 mm)를 얻어 4점 굽힘시험을 통해 평균 강도값을 구하였다. 강도분포의 통계적 해석을 위해 와이블 선도를 이용하여 형상인자(와이블 계수)와 크기인자(확률적 파괴강도)를 얻었다. 취성 실리콘 다이의 시편 크기(두께)효과와 파단 확률이 고려된 통계적 파단강도 값을 실리콘 다이 두께의 함수로 얻었다. 관찰된 파괴양상을 측정된 파단강도와 관련하여 고찰하였다.

Finite-element analysis and design of aluminum alloy RHSs and SHSs with through-openings in bending

  • This paper presents a finite-element analysis (FEA) of aluminum alloy rectangular hollow sections (RHSs) and square hollow sections (SHSs) with circular through-openings under three-point and four-point bending. First, a finite-element model (FEM) was developed and validated against the corresponding test results available in the literature. Next, using the validated FE models, a parametric study comprising 180 FE models was conducted. The cross-section width-to-thickness ratio (b/t) ranged from 2 to 5, the hole size ratio (d/h) ranged from 0.2 to 0.8 and the quantity of holes (n) ranged from 2 to 6, respectively. Third, results obtained from laboratory test and FEA were compared with current design strengths calculated in accordance with the North American Specifications (NAS), the modified direct strength method (DSM) and the modified Continuous strength method (CSM). The comparison shows that the modified CSM are conservative by 15% on average for aluminum alloy RHSs and SHSs with circular through-openings subject to bending. Finally, a new design equation is proposed based on the modified CSM after being validated with results obtained from laboratory test and FEA. The proposed design equation can provide accurate predictions of flexural capacities for aluminum alloy RHSs and SHSs with circular through-openings.

AE를 이용한 탄소섬유시트 강화 모르타르의 파괴거동에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Failure Behavior of Carbon Fiber Sheet Reinforced Mortar Using Acoustic Emission Technique)

  • It was well recognized that the damages associated mainly with the aging of civil infrastructures were one of very serious problems for assurance of safety and reliability. Recently carbon fiber sheet(CFS) has been widely used for reinforcement and rehabilitation of damaged concrete beam. However, the fundamental mechanism of load transfer and its load-resistant for carbon fiber sheet reinforced concrete are not fully understood. In this study, three point bending test has been carried out to understand the damage progress and the micro-failure mechanism of CFS reinforced mortars. For this purpose, four different types of specimens are used, that is, mortar, steel bar reinforced mortar, CFS reinforced mortar, and steel bar and CFS reinforced morter. Acoustic Emission(AE) technique was used to evaluate the characteristics of damage progress and the failure mechanism of specimens. in addition, two-dimensional AE source location was also performed to monitor crack initiation and propagation processes for these specimens.

굽힘모드하에서의 코팅크랙킹의 분석II: 실험 (A Study on the Coating Cracking on a Substrate in Bending II : Experiment)

  • 앞 동반논문의 이론에서 기술된 기재위에 입혀진 코팅크랙킹의 파괴역학 분석을 4점 굴곡시험을 이용하여 실증하였다. 파괴역학 접근에 의해서 코팅의 다중크랙킹을 예측하여 코팅층에서 새로운 크랙이 생길 때의 변위에너지 방출량(G)을 구하였다. 여러 건조시간과 건조온도의 변화에 따른 금속 및 고분자 기재위에 입혀진 코팅의 변위에 대한 코팅 크랙밀도의 실험데이타가 in-situ 코팅의 파괴인성 값을 구하기 위해 사용되었다. 건조온도가 올라가고 건조시간이 길어짐에 따라 $G_c$는 감소하였다. 본 논문은 코팅의 파괴인성 평가에 있어 4점 굴곡시험이 얼마나 유용한지를 보여주며 in-situ 코팅인성을 구하는 방법을 제시하였다.
