Sensorless Control of PMSM by a Four-Switch Inverter with Compensation of Voltage Distortion and Adjustment of Position Estimation Gain

  • This paper proposes performance improvement schemes for sensorless PMSM control drive using a four-switch three-phase inverter (so-called B4 inverter). In the proposed scheme, the back-EMF estimation-based sensorless control algorithm is used to control the brushless PMSM without position sensors. In order to have stable operation, this paper presents a gain adjustment scheme that compensates the reduction of stable sensorless operation range as long as the rotor speed increases. In B4 topology, the center point of dc-link capacitors is connected to 3-phase load, and it is prone to have the load current distortion. Hence, to mitigate this problem, a distortion compensation scheme by modifying voltage commands using measured dc-link potentials is proposed in this paper. The validity of the proposed method is evaluated by simulations and experiments.

Power Flow Control of Four Channel Resonant Step-Down Converters

  • This paper proposes a new power flow control method for soft-switched, four channel, five level resonant buck dc-dc converters. These converters have two input channels, which can be supplied from sources with identical or different voltages, and four output channels with arbitrary output voltages. They are specially designed to supply multilevel inverters. The design methodology for their power flow control has been developed considering a general case when the input voltages, output voltages and loads can be asymmetrical. A special emphasize is paid to the limitations and restrictions of operation. The theoretical studies are confirmed by numerical simulations and laboratory tests carried out at various operation points. Exploiting the advantages of the newly proposed power control strategy, the converter can supply five level inverters in dc microgrids, active filters, power factor correctors and electric drives. They can also play an interfacing role in renewable energy systems.

H.264/AVC 복호기를 위한 고성능 연산처리 인트라 예측기 설계 (A Design of High Performance Operation Intra Predictor for H.264/AVC Decoder)

  • 본 논문에서는 H.264/AVC 복호기를 위한 고성능 연산처리 인트라 예측기를 제안한다. 기존의 인트라 예측기는 $4{\times}4$블록에 적용되는 17개의 예측모드를 효율적으로 연산하기 위해 공통 연산기를 사용하였다. 하지만 기존의 공통 연산기는 한 픽셀에 적용되는 연산 수식을 분석하여 설계되었기 때문에, 16개 픽셀의 $4{\times}4$ 블록을 연산하기 위해 4개의 공통 연산기를 사용하며 4 사이클을 소요한다. 본 논문에서는 병렬 연산을 위한 T3(Three Type Transform) 연산기를 제안한다. 제안하는 T3 연산기는 17개의 인트라 예측 모드를 3가지 형태로 나누어, $4{\times}4$ 블록의 16개 픽셀에 적용되는 연산 수식을 한 사이클에 처리한다. 제안하는 인트라 예측기와 기존의 인트라 예측기의 예측 수행 사이클을 각 모드 별로 비교한 결과, 제안하는 인트라 예측기가 평균 58.95%의 향상된 결과를 얻었다.

  • 현재 이기종 네트워크를 관리하기 위해 다수 관리자가 존재하며, 이런 상황에서 효율적인 네트워크 관리를 위한 새로운 프로토콜로 NETCONF가 제안되었다. 그러나 NETCONF 프로토콜 표준은 제정 이래 지속적인 개선을 거듭해왔지만 여전히 4개의 계층에 몇 가지 문제점을 가지고 있다. 특히 다수 관리자가 존재하는 상황에서는 Operation 계층에서 문제점이 크게 부각된다. 본 논문에서는 이런 문제에 초점을 맞추어 NETCONF 4개 계층 중에 Operation 계층의 연산 효율성과 유연성을 개선하였다. 추가적으로 개선한 연산을 기반하여 장치 설정에 대한 갱신 기법의 비효율성을 개선하였다. 또한 NETCONF 표준 프로토콜에서는 제안하지 못한 Content 계층의 장비 설정 데이터 구조를 생성할 수 있는 표준적인 기법을 제시하였다. NETCONF에 세 가지 개선 기법을 적절하게 적용하고 기존 NETCONF와 제안 기법을 4가지 실험 인자로 비교하는 실험을 수행하였다. 주요 비교 인자는 네트워크 기능 유지 확률, 명령 반응 속도, 제어 패킷의 수, Content 계층에서 데이터 생성 속도라는 4가지 인자이다. 이와 같은 인자를 통해 실험을 수행 한 후 본 논문에서 제안한 기법이 기존 NETCONF 보다 우수함을 실험 결과 분석을 통해서 확인하였다.

  • This paper presents a control and operation system for a remotely operated vehicle (ROV). The ROV used in the study was equipped with a manipulator and is being developed for underwater exploration and autonomous underwater working. Precision position and attitude control ability is essential for underwater operation using a manipulator. For propulsion, the ROV is equipped with eight thrusters, the number of those are more than six degrees-of-freedom. Four of them are in charge of surge, sway, and yaw motion, and the other four are responsible for heave, roll, and pitch motion. Therefore, it is more efficient to integrate the management of the thrusters rather than control them individually. In this paper, a thrust allocation method for thruster management is presented, and the design of a feedback controller using sensor data is described. The software for the ROV operation consists of a robot operating system that can efficiently process data between multiple hardware platforms. Through experimental analysis, the validity of the control system performance was verified.

Robust feedback-linearization control for axial power distribution in pressurized water reactors during load-following operation

  • Improved load-following capability is one of the most important technical tasks of a pressurized water reactor. Controlling the nuclear reactor core during load-following operation leads to some difficulties. These difficulties mainly arise from nuclear reactor core limitations in local power peaking: the core is subjected to sharp and large variation of local power density during transients. Axial offset (AO) is the parameter usually used to represent the core power peaking. One of the important local power peaking components in nuclear reactors is axial power peaking, which continuously changes. The main challenge of nuclear reactor control during load-following operation is to maintain the AO within acceptable limits, at a certain reference target value. This article proposes a new robust approach to AO control of pressurized water reactors during load-following operation. This method uses robust feedback-linearization control based on the multipoint kinetics reactor model (neutronic and thermal-hydraulic). In this model, the reactor core is divided into four nodes along the reactor axis. Simulation results show that this method improves the reactor load-following capability in the presence of parameter uncertainty and disturbances and can use optimum control rod groups to maneuver with variable overlapping.

Source Current Control Strategy of Active Power Filters for Unbalanced Load Compensation in Three-Phase Four-Wire Distribution Networks

  • This paper proposes a modified control strategy to improve the performance of three-phase four-leg shunt active power filters (APFs) for the compensation of three phase unbalanced loads. Unbalanced current cannot be obtained accurately by a harmonic detector due to the lower frequency. The proposed control strategy eliminates conventional harmonic detectors by directly regulating the source current. Therefore, the computational complexity is greatly reduced and the performance of the APF is improved. A mathematic model has been developed based on the source currents. The corresponding controllers have been designed based on the sinusoidal internal model principle. The proposed control strategy can guarantee excellent compensation performance and stable operation after an extreme disturbance such as a short circuit fault. In addition, the proposed technique can selectively compensate specific harmonics. A 50kVA prototype APF is implemented in the laboratory to validate the feasibility and performance of the proposed control strategy.

  • This study aims to evaluate future stream flow by the operation of agricultural reservoir group at the upper stream of the Miho River. Four agricultural reservoirs with storage capacities greater than one million cubic meters within the watershed were selected, and the RCP 8.5 climate change scenario was applied to simulate reservoir water storage and stream flow assuming that there are no changes in greenhouse gas reduction. Reservoir operation scenarios were classified into four types depending on the supply of instream flow, and the water supply reliability of each reservoir in terms of water supply under different reservoir operation scenarios was analyzed. In addition, flow duration at the watershed outlet was evaluated. The results showed that the overall run-off ratio of the upper stream watershed of the Miho River will decrease in the future. The future water supply reliability of the reservoirs decreased even when they did not supply instream flow during their operation. It would also be difficult to supply instream flow during non-irrigation periods or throughout the year (January-December); however, operating the reservoir based on the operating rule curve should improve the water supply reliability. In particular, when instream flow was not supplied, high flow increased, and when it was supplied, abundant flow, ordinary flow, and low flow increased. Drought flow increased when instream flow was supplied throughout the year. Therefore, the operation of the agricultural reservoirs in accordance with the operating rule curve is expected to increase stream flow by controlling the water supply to cope with climate change.

  • Bronchoplastic and angioplastic operation in lung surgery is appropriate treatment for a wide range of benign endobronchial lesions and low grade malignancies. Between March 1990 to February 1994, four patients underwent bronchial sleeve resection and one patient received left upper lobe lobectomy with pulmonary artery angioplasty. Types of disease includes two cases of endobronchial tuberculosis and three cases of lung cancer. The main operation performed are one pneumonectomy, two right upper lobectomy and one each of left upper lobectomy and left lower lobectomy. All cases received sleeve resection not due to decreased respiratory reserve but due to anatomic suitability. One patient who received pneumonectomy had postoperative complication of empyema thoracis.

제습로터의 운전특성을 재배하는 무차원 인자의 도출과 해석 (Derivation and Analysis of Dimensionless Parameters Dominating the Dehumidification Characteristics of a Desiccant Rotor)

  • In a previous work of the authors, the heat and mass transfer in a desiccant rotor was analyzed theoretically through linearization assumptions and four dimensionless parameter groups dominating the dehumidification process were arranged. In this work is verified whether the four dimensionless parameters also play the dominant roles in more realistic situations where the nonlinear factors affect the heat and mass transfer. The results show that the dehumidification characteristics are closely similar to each other as long as the four dimensionless parameters have the same set of values while the rotor configurations and/or the operation conditions are different from each other. The four dimensionless parameters are $\Psi,\;\chi,\;\sigma$ and N, where $\Psi$ implies the average gradient of relative humidity lines in the psychrometric chart, $\chi$ the heat capacity of the rotor and $\sigma$ the sorption capacity of the rotor, and N implies the number of transfer unit.
